My guess is that GW just didn't realize that the 'everyone gets a trophy' mentality was so prevalent in the gamer community! ;)

I agree with you, though I would call it psychology over "whining" (if I may paraphrase you). Disincentives in the last days of a KickStarter are bad. It's not encouraging sales for the KS to have a nice graphic of "Daily Deals" you can't get because you wanted to pledge at the end.

I thought the same thing one day one of the KS with the 2000 limit for the first month of beta, which GW has now backed away from.

The Daily Deals were a great idea to keep interest up, but the implementation was wrong. Instead of the traditional KS look what else you get (like meeting bonus tiers), towards these last few days it has become, to the needed new pledge makers, look what you don't get. I realize the desire for the earlier pledges, but I think (no proof) that it hurt more in the long run than helped. Unfortunately, the Daily Deals were promised as one time only, and GW has painted themselves into a corner.

I'd be fine with them selling them for $1/per day that it was on the list!

So if you wanted the Goblin Sword you could donate $28 bucks. Great for you, great for the KS campaign!

They see him troll'n, he bait'n. All because their white n' nerdy.

And they keep feeding, so reckless. All because their white and nerdy.

Guilty as charged on the nerdy part at least. And proud of it. :) :) :) :)

Personally, I'd be more upset as a non-Kickstart backer or even an early adopter who couldn't afford some of the add-ons than I would be about the daily deals.

Specifically this add-on:

"Twice-Marked of Pharasma:

All characters in Pathfinder Online are marked by Pharasma and are thus able to return from the dead at the soulbinding points. You bear the same mark as all other characters but you have a second, distinctive mark as well. None know why you bear this mark, nor what it may portend in the future, but be sure that Fate has many surprises in store for those who are Twice-Chosen by the Lady of Graves. The bearer of this second Mark will have access to content and mechanical benefits distinct to those who are Twice Marked! You may purchase this add on multiple times" (emphasis mine).

So if you purpose that add-on you have access to content that others in the game don't. Now it may not be a lot of content, but that's pretty big, and if it was me who didn't do the kickstarter I'd be more upset about loss of content with mechanical benefits that were unique than I would be about loss of vanity items. Now you might lose acess to the normal marked of pharasma with that character, but you can easily experience that content with another character that doesn't have the twice-mark.

Goblinworks clearly wishes the project funded and are offering some really sweet deals to try and get that done.

Everyone had an equal opportunity to get in the game. It isn't Goblinworks' fault that some people are out of work and can't afford to contribute.

Should they work for free because there are people who aren't employed, or who are underemployed? I don't really think so. Look at the homeless outside the grocery stores. Should the store give away all their food (thereby putting them out on the street and homeless as well) because homeless people don't have the money to buy food?

No, the store owner/employees might give food to the homeless (and probably do) but that doesn't mean the store as a business is going to give food away.

Except there is nothing saying that the 'Twice marked' trait cannot be purchased through a MTX store or earned in some other in game manner.

Were this to be the case, the same could be said of every single thing offered by the kickstarter with the possible exception of the daily deals. The words 'exclusive' or 'only available' are not used once in the entire campaign page. Besides that, if most of these things were available elsewhere, it'd be a pretty big slap in the face to backers of the kickstarter since inability to get elsewhere is a pretty big draw of being an early adopter. This would also make this particular add-on pretty inconsistent with basically every other add-on which seems to indicate that they are kickstarter exclusive.

The only thing that claims to be exclusive to the KS is the secret salute.

It would be perfectly reasonable if everything account-based was available as MTX- once open enrollment starts and the MTX store opens. That's a 9-month exclusive...

The daily deals will probably be available on the open market; perhaps there will even be people who buy and sell them, hoping to make a profit on changes in the market price (Early sellers might be selling in a depressed or inflated market)

What? Can someone point me to where this was changed? I really liked that I was going to be one of the first 2000 in to the game.

Crowdforger Reward Bonus - $1 Million Early Enrollment Upgrade

We've heard a lot of concern from people who want to switch reward levels, but don't want to lose their place in line. We want to make sure everyone has a chance to get into the best reward level for them. We looked at the numbers pretty carefully, and we believe it will only stretch our enrollment slots by about 1000 people to offer this benefit to the Crowdforger pledges up to $1 million.

We're going to allow all Crowdforger pledges received before the $1 million milestone into the first month of Early Access. So go ahead and switch levels around however you wish over the next day or so, and don't worry about losing your place in line. Once we hit $1 million, the normal system will be back in effect.

I too expect pretty much every add-on reward to be purchasable in the MTX store at one point: this is why I am not buying into them right now.

They may be more costly then they are now (as add-on) when they hit the MTX store for the first time, but if there is one thing that MMO's with a mtx store like to do, it's discounting........especially when things need a boost. Add to this that we really do not know the true benefits of some of the rewards, has made me decide to wait these out.

Still happy with early enrollment and the Daily Deals, though I would be perfectly fine with them opening these up for every pledger. After all, the number of "pledgees" will still be a tiny percentage of the entire future player-base, so the items will still be exclusive (and tradable, which I love).

EDIT: to be honest, I was kinda surprised at some of the add-ons to begin with: since I feel that they are not exclusive to the kickstarter, some of the add-ons are nothing more then a pre-sale, with the added disadvantage of not really knowing what you are buying. I would have expected some of these add-ons (like the twice marked of Pharasma) to be an extra incentive for pledging in this kickstarter and expected them to add them to certain pledge-tiers as a bonus. The amount of players who would get these addons for free(as a pledger) would still be a tiny percentage of the total playerbase (and even those people would still buy more when they want more characters).

I think they missed a chance to make the rewards even more enticing. Pledgers should be coddled untill the Kickstarter has succeeded! After that they can be treated like regular customers, but not before. :)
