Sources on the Hold of Belkzen

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hi All,

I'm pondering starting a new campaign focusing on the orcs of the Hold of Belkzen. Beyond the information in the Inner Sea World Guide, are there any good sources for this region (sourcebooks, adventures etc.)

The only thing I can think of is 'Skeletons of Scarwall', though I admit my Golarion-fu is weak!

The Orcs of Golarion book has some bits on the Hold of Belkzen.. not a huge amount, though.

The Pathfinder Gazeteer also has general nation info on the Hold, and a bit more info on it. Couldn't find anything else though. Would be an interesting place to have a campaign in, though. Orcs!

Belkzen:

Belkzen, Hold of
SAVAGE HUMANOID HOMELAND
Alignment: NE
Capital: Urgir (28,700)
Notable Settlements: Wyvernsting (11,320)
Ruler: Prominent orc champions and their respective
clans include Grask Uldeth of the Empty Hand, Tulluk
Clovenface of the Haskodars, and Hundux Half-Man of
Murdered Child
Government: Numerous tribal hordes vie for dominance
Languages: Orc
Religion: Rovagug, Lamashtu, Zon-Kuthon

AP11 Skeletons of Scarwall has a (6- or 8-page, I forget) gazetteer of Scarwall.

EDIT: Once again I forgot to read the whole opening post! :p

There is just a part of a paragraph in Dwarves of Golarion:

In –3708, the unthinkable happened and orcs successfully invaded Koldukar, a Sky Citadel in what is now the Hold of Belkzen. In the Battle of Nine Stones, orcs breached the walls and drove the dwarves from Koldukar, slaughtering any who courageously stayedbehind to fight. Seven thousand years later, orcs remainfirmly in control of their greatest stronghold, which they named Urgir and set as their unofficial capital. The dwarves’ loss of Koldukar is a source of great shame for
their entire race, and many dream of retaking it and ending the orc menace forever.

Belkzen is an interesting place. I'm hopeful for a Player Companion or (wishful thinking?) campaign setting based on it in the not-so-distant future. I was a bit disappointed in the content in "Orcs Of Golarion" on the subject, myself.

The wiki page has some good information (mostly from the sources previously mentioned) as well as links to additional pages to some of the noteworthy features of the region. I like Belkzen myself. I would like to play in a party of orcs from Belkzen someday if ever one of our group decides to run something like that. *grin*

Some of the later Eando Kline story goes to Hold of Belkzen - I think it was there for 2-3 chapters

Eando Kline, I'm not familiar with his story. Is it a novel series or part of the Pathfinder journals in adventure paths?

I've been developing my campaign idea. The rough scaffold is that the PCs are guards (not too original I grant you) hired to protect a caravan travelling from Vigil, along the Flood Road through the Hold of Belkzen to eventually trade with the Mammoth Lords.

With this in mind, any good sources on Lastwall and the Realms of the Mammoth Lords?

For Lastwall: the ISWG and Cities of Golarion, which details the city of Vigil. For the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, again the ISWG, and the upcoming People of the North.

For the story of Eando Kline, check out the "Pathfinder's Journal" section of the first three APs. If you don't have them all, you can also buy the complete Journal from Paizo.
