Man, really want this thing to go through. My group committed $500 for our early ticket to Beta, but it looks like it'll all be for naught. Now I wish I had money during the first Kickstarter.
EDIT: Threw another $35 at it personally. Be cool to get that awesome megadungeon thing. Please, PFO, make it to $1 million.

No worry - actually it looks quite good right now. I was a lot more pessimistic a week ago but there is a good chance that we get 500+ new backers just today and that would place it very good for the last 2 1/2 days.
Helaman
The whole idea of the daily deal was to entice players to join early. There might be a few guilds that don't have all spots filled. I'm not 100% sure how they work with the daily deal when you upgraded inbetween. I was on Crowdforger Buddy from day 1 and changed to Guild level 10 days ago.
It was said that you wouldn't lose them when you upgrade - does this mean I have twice daily deal from the start and twice from 1.st January or 6 times from the start?
I guess I will find out.

Daily deals start from the first date you pledged, no matter how many times you modify your pledge (given that you keep within the levels that actually get the daily deals :).
And you will "grandfather" all your buddies when you up your pledge, so all 6 will start from the date of your first pledge.Keovar Goblin Squad Member |
Thod, others:
If you had a DD-qualifying pledge before they started, and have not reduce your pledge or selected reward below that since then, you will keep all the Daily Deals. If you have a 'buddy' pledge, both accounts get them, and all six 'guild' pledge accounts get their own set.
So for example, say you started with the 35$ pledge and selected the 'adventurer' reward the day before the goblin dogslicer was offered. You didn't drop your pledge after that point, and at the end you suddenly had friends wanting to buy in on a 'guild' pledge. All those accounts would get all of the DDs.
Entrance into the Early Enrollment is a little different. Say you got a 'pioneer' pledge on day one, easily getting into the first month of EE. Then a friend convinced you to convert to 'buddy', which was fine since there was still plenty of 1st-month room on the 'buddy' level. The 'pioneer' space filled in behind you and is now in its 2nd month (over 2000). If you were to switch back to 'pioneer', you would not get your old spot back, you'd come in at the second month of EE.
At this point, 'pioneer' and 'buddy' are into their 2nd month, but 'brewmaster', 'geography', and 'guild' still have 1st-month space left.
Of course, if you go 'alpha', you not only get in on the first month of EE, you get all the DD items too, regardless of what date you started.

Well, if we look at how the last Pathfinder Kickstarter went, there is a good reason to be hopeful these last 3 days could topple the million dollar mark.

The major difference between the two is that the technology demo secured its funding during the first two days. People are more likely to later jump into a Kickstarter campaign if they already know it's succeeded. Stretch goals (like the ones we saw with the technology demo Kickstarter) are also likely to help a project that has already gained a lot of funding to keep its momentum.
Then there's simply the question of volume: asking for 50,000? Not a lot, really. Asking for 1,000,000? That's a whole different kind of beast.

I'm probably going to add $115 for the print-pack add-on. I curse the fellow who mentioned the idea of going to the buddy level to double up the minis and other goodies - now I'm thinking about it!
Having not played MMORPGs before, the in-game add-ons don't resonate with me. My main motivation was Emerald Spire, but I entered at the Crowdforger Pioneer level to reserve an early entry into the game thinking I could just reduce my amount later if I changed my mind. I didn't, and now I look forward to trying it out.

Well there seems to be no Linux client, so I be staying at original $100. To all the Windows and Mac users, enjoy the game with all these wonder add-on benefits. I will be staying with TT PF.
He didn't say there wouldn't be a Linux client he said there wouldn't be an announcement about a Linux client during the Kickstarter.
We will not be making a Linux support announcement during the Kickstarter.
IE they may make an announcement about it after the Kickstarter once they've had a chance to research it further.

Sadly I doubt we be seeing you in game. I can't afford to loose about $400 on add-ons for absolutely nothing (unable to use game) in return.
I will never purchase Windows. I believe the OS for computer should always be free to make the hardware work. Also include simple applications for communication and simple document creation should be standard and part of the OS. All other applications can come with a price, including fancier application of the core application included in the OS.

I don't know why I keep hearing Eeyore's voice when I read DarkOne's responses. Actually, I do.
The game is years from release. The whole Linux client thing has plenty of time to shape up.
2 other things . . .1) a little optimism can be refreshing and 2) even if you are right about your idealistic view of how operating systems ought to be, to live is a perpetual state of disappointment due to the fact that your ideals are not shared by all has very little utility.
Why be the guy at the Walkman release party going around saying, "But it does't play eight tracks. . . I own music on 8 tracks." ??

68 hours to go, maybe they will announce something about Linux in the next 24 hours. Just keep an eye on it. I hope they support Linux in the end, but this is why I have always been a windows person. its the most common so for gaming its a sure bet for a client for your os.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting to back a project for a game that may or may not be supporting your system, why donate money to it if you can't play it?

That makes perfect sense.
Just consider. . . Most of the world is not backing this project, but, thankfully, most don't chime in to justify that choice.

Directly from Lisa Stevens
No this product will ONLY be made if we reach the $1 million funding goal for this Kickstarter. None of the print products will be made. Could we eventually do a much smaller Fort Inevitable sourcebook? Sure. But it would be something like 32 pages and wouldn't include a Superdungeon with an all-star cast of authors. The ONLY way that is getting made is if we get our funding.

That is Thornkeep, not Emerald Spire, Thornkeep was from the last KS, Emerald Spire is from this KS.

well gooooooo kickstarter lol
If you're just looking for the book, waiting (and hoping it funds anyway) is probably the most effective strategy. However, it's worth noting that (if you're planning on grabbing the other stuff like flipmats, cards, novel and so forth) waiting until after the kickstarter will almost certainly cost you more than the $100 here.
Timing is timing, of course - stumping up $100 in the next few days might be impossible, and no doubt some people just want the book. Nonetheless, it's something to consider - the kickstarter is offering some pretty decent deals for TTRPG players, even if they just pretend there's no MMO content (the $100 pledge gives you $300 of PDFs, as another example - which could well be a bargain, depending on what you want and what you already have.

I don't think DarkOne is the only person who has pledged $100-$200 strictly for the tabletop items. At least I know if it turns out that the game is not for me at least I got my money's worth out of it.
I feel the same way. I honestly don't expect the game to be a style I enjoy, but I figure US$200 plus shipping is worth pledging for the non-MMO stuff that comes with it.
And who knows, I might just turn out to be wrong about the online game too. If I am, then that's going to be pure gravy from where I'm standing.

Thanx for understanding my reasoning for not pledge more than $100. I still want the KS to succeed so the Windows and Mac users can still get to play PFO earlier, and I can still get the consolation price of the PDF super pack and the Emerald Spire PDF.
I would love to get the hard copies to, but until Paizo decides to use courier companies for international customers, it is pointless trying to get them. They already know the hell I went through to get just 1 book as a result of using normal mail services for international customers. Thankfully Amazon uses courier company with tracking numbers, so I can still get my required books.
