Breakdance Robot Build

Sorry basing it off of the Stat Block I am looking at for a build you inspired... It was a 25 PBS...

Decreasing INT to 7 before Racials could get you the STR 13.

Grand Lodge

This is 20 buy.

I know. My personal build is an Android Fighter.

Yours if you use my Second Array you can drop INT down and increase STR and maybe another Stat.

Grand Lodge

I think I can bring that strength to 12.

Dawnflower dervish bard gets double self inspire courage (which is competence bonus), and dervish dance as a bonus feat at 1st so you don't need to take weapon finesse. That's tough to beat.

Maneuver master monk dip for free maneuvers. Trip and disarm?

Paladin of holy light and vengeance (blue steel!).

Bard 7, Monk 2, Paladin 11?

Str 13, Dex 16+2, Con 14, Int 7+2, Wis 7, Cha 16-2.

You could ditch the paladin levels, save those for android zoolander instead of hansel, and take more bard with some fighter for feats... Bard 13, Monk 2, Fighter 5?

Grand Lodge

Would not the Unarmed Fighter be better for this low wisdom build?

Also, this PC is anything but Lawful, so that nixes Paladin.

If the DM allows, maybe Antipaladin?

You still need Weapon Finesse for the To-Hit.

STR: 13
DEX: 14 (+2)
CON: 15
INT: 07 (+2)
WIS: 07
CHA: 17 (-2)

Final Tally:
STR: 13
DEX: 16
CON: 15
INT: 09
WIS: 07
CHA: 15

Put the level bonus in CHA and there you go.

Grand Lodge

Still struggling with feats beyond 5th.

Any suggestions?

Vital Strike Feat Line might be good.

Grand Lodge

That would not sync well with the Dervish Dancer.

The Rain of Blows ability is a sort of "Haste plus more" ability, that only works on a full-attack.

Could work with the Dawnflower Dervish(Bard) though.

A I forgot Rain of Blows.

Hmm, I am not sure about what feats would be best.

Grand Lodge

Harmonic Spell, Weapon Focus, Skill Focus, or Spellsong seem possible.

Yeah those feats do seem good.

Though you might look for a Bard Guide.

discordant song gives those under the effects of your performance d6 sonic damage.

Does not that only apply to damage spells?

Discordant Voice seems to apply to all weapon damage.

whoops, ya discordant voice. was going to take it with my inspiring commander but it quite specifically changes the bardic performance away from supernatural

Grand Lodge

That's a lot of skill points in the wrong Perform, but seems worth it.

It also seems usable with Rain of Blows, as it is supernatural.

What do you mean away from Supernatural?

Grand Lodge

For it to work, you need to create a spell-like or supernatural effect, and Rain of Blows is a Supernatural ability.

Yeah, what you mean john?

sorry i was referring to the character i am currently playing. i am using the inspiring commander archetype for my cavalier. it gets a limited amount bardic performance, but it is considered an extraordinary ability as opposed to supernatural.

the battle dance of dawnflower dervish or dervish dancer both retain their supernatural quality so you should be peechy keen to get the extra sonic damage.

Now it makes sense.

Grand Lodge

Perhaps it can be flavored as the "oomph, oomph, oomph" of techno music.

I like it...

Grand Lodge

I am going to Necro this, as I actually have a chance to actually run it.

Everything is pretty much the same, as far as restrictions go.

Any advice?

I know there is more material now.

Grand Lodge

With the Agile weapon property available, is there still incentive to nab the Dervish Dance feat?

I will be bringing this PC in at 12, so the gold is there.

Oh, and I realize things like Inspire Courage, and Inspire Heroics will not effect the Android.

Actually, reading it, you can still benefit from inspire courage. The bonuses to attack and damage are competence bonuses. You still lose the bonuses to saves though (but half of that was fear saves....so no loss). Inspire Greatness looks unaffected, and you still get the dodge bonus for Inspire Heroics.

I'd go with the dawnflower dervish for bards. The bonuses mentioned above get doubles (although only for you...but with numbers that high that quick, you might actually give many fighters a run for their money). And do not worry too much about getting a large score in CHA. Most bard spells are either mind affecting or buffs. Focus on the latter and your CHA score will only matter for getting bonus spells per day and extra rounds for your performances (which could be more easily obtained through a feat really). Since you want to dump int and wis (with a bard's skill points and will saves, it is no real loss), you can easily work off of this with a 20 point buy: STR: 13 DEX: 16 CON: 14 INT: 7 WIS: 7 CHA: 16

The incentive for grabbing dervish dance is that you do not need a +2 weapon in order to actually do damage. Just a masterwork scimitar that could be grabbed from any blacksmith would work. You can go on to enhance that weapon however you like, without using a specific +1 enhancement to get it to do any real damage. So over all, it is price and ability to replace it in case it is lost, stolen, or destroyed. Plus the satisfaction that you are the source of the dex to damage, rather than relying on magic.

Grand Lodge

So, it's the double competence bonus that beats Dervish Dancer?

If going Dervish Dancer, and picking up the Dervish Dance feat, how would it compare to the Dawnflower Dervish?

Is there newer feats that would be better choices?

Well, that is a +2 to hit and damage rolls at level 1. That is comparable to a barbarian's rage (well, barbarian gets more raw damage since they can two hand the weapon). It ends as a +8 at level 17. This is per hit too. That doubles what fighters get from just weapon training.

Although... that would be good grounds for making a TWF build as well. Maybe a pair of agile light weapons. It would be worth getting some throwing knives for when you can't go into melee and full attack at least. Maybe a full archer build could work too. All the raw power this archetype throws around can actually make bards more versatile beyond merely being a dervish dancer or buffer.

Grand Lodge

Should I dip at all?

Grand Lodge

What combat feats benefit this build the most?

You can never go wrong with weapon focus (x).

Grand Lodge

Well, that seems a given, I suppose.

What about Combat Reflexes?

Would that be worth it?

Silver Crusade

Combat Reflexes is never a bad idea if you're gonna be in melee and have 14+ Dex.

Grand Lodge

Is there any way to create my own background music while fighting?

The Harmonizing armor enchantment is all I can come up with.

It is really expensive though.

For pure flavor, I feel like this bard should be able to make its own background music.

Admittedly, this might only be a reflavored perform(sing) (that is what I'd put humming under at least...and this would just be very ADVANCED humming...kind of), but it might still end up awesome. I think you might be able to get this approved if you were not using it as part of a bardic performance, but rather simply adding onto your perform (dance). No real bonuses, especially since the people who would be impressed would not be able to benefit from the battle dances anyway for either of the main archetypes we have discussed. No, it is simply cheese.

What the-

So uh if you do not find a way to cast irresistible dance as part of this build like some insane Michael Jackson moonwalker saga genesis power up I will be very disappointed

Grand Lodge

Well, there is the Clamor Box, but I am not sure if it is one use.

That would suck if it is.

Silver Crusade

You totally need to put ranks into perform (beatboxing) so you can make your own music while dancing.

But it is an android. I think it could autotune its own voice... or even fake other instruments depending on the music software.

Would just a simple ghost sound work? I mean, the spell itself references how it can be used with silent image, so I would imagine that you can do other things while the sound is going on (unless they meant that one person can do audio, the other video). Yeah, looking at it, it is more like a recording that is made and played once the spell starts. Just use that.

But the real draw is this: Permanency. Make your own theme song, and have people hear it every time you enter the room. Now if only that had an off switch...

Grand Lodge

I thought about Ghost Sound, but then there was casting, concentration, and what not.

Is Ghost Sound listed under Permanency?

The spell itself references permanency. At least it does here. I can't say whether it will be connected to a person, or a specific place (such as adding a dragon's roar that plays occasionally within an old cavern, which would discourage people from snooping). If it is the latter, I can at least see some one making a fantasy rave club, with a continual "doot doot doot doot doot."

I may be wrong about this, but it looks like the effect of ghost sound is round based and does not involve concentration. This would make sense since it says "You choose what type of sound ghost sound creates when casting it and cannot thereafter change the sound's basic character." It is a bit like saying 'summon invisible CD player.'

Can't say anything about casting time though. That is why I kind of suggest it for making a dramatic entrance.

Grand Lodge

Huh, 2,500gp, for a Permanent Ghost Sound on an object or area.

Grand Lodge

So, resurrection here, but previously, this build fell through, and I could not play it.

Now, I have a chance to run it, in Carrion Crown, with 25 point buy.

What suggestions to updating this build?

What is new, that could add to this build?

Grand Lodge

Actually, I just got shut down again.

I will store this build for future games though.

Grand Lodge

Necro!

With a new book, comes new possibilities.

Mainly, this new feat:

People of the Stars wrote:

Empathy

You have learned to experience emotion.
Prerequisites: Cha 13, android.
Benefit: You lose the emotionless racial trait. You can
gain morale bonuses, and can be affected by emotion-based
effects and fear effects. You lack the +4 racial bonus on saving
throws against mind-affecting effects.

Thoughts?
