[Roll20] Looking for players / GMs!

Recruitment

Hello,

I've recently found the VTT, Roll20.net and I'm looking to see if there would be interest in running one of the Paizo APs or possibly even Society games using the tool on a weekly basis. I've no preference for which AP would be run although I'd probably shy away from Kingmaker to begin with as it seems like an AP that would be best run in a group that has some experience together.

Who would be interested, and able to set aside an evening (as yet to be determined) for an ongoing game? I am GMT, btw.

Grand Lodge

Hiya,

Just went past Roll20.net and made an account. That product looks pretty good, and if possible I would not mind trying it out.

Time zone : GMT+1

I may be interested as well, depending on the game and the time. Any candidates for GM?

Time Zone: EST, aka GMT -4

~A

I've only played Society games, so while I won't be able to GM, I'd be interested in playing. I'm on GMT-6 with an erratic, but typically empty schedule, so time's not too much of an issue.

Dark Archive

wood not mind Gm'ing jade reg.
EST+0 (do not know what it is GMT)

Hi KM,

You're in the same time zone as I am-- EST / GMT -4.

I would love to play Jade Regent. I started with a campaign once, but we didn't get that far.

~A

So with our differing timezones, what is going to be the time least problematic for people getting on for a few hours a week?

What is the latest that DickovDK can play until? I think he's got the latest timezone. We can calculate backwards from that.

I can do anything but Monday evenings (6 pm-12 am CST). I'm very flexible outside of that. And with -6, -4, -4, +0, and +1, maybe using -3 as a standard point to work from would be good?

Just as a jumping off point lets say Kestarr could play 11pm - 3am

Thats:
+1: 11- 3
0: 10- 2
-4: 6- 10
-6: 4- 8

Thats if we played on a weekday night. With such diverse times, a Sunday aft/evening might be better:

+1: 9- 1
0: 8- 12
-4: 4- 8
-6: 2- 6

Just some examples for people to think about.

I am GMT -4 but we don't observe daylight savings here in Grenada. I have an open schedule until classes begin in February.

How long are the sessions you plan to play. I have all the time in the world right now, but classes begin again in late February and I will only be able to play 3-4 hours, once a week, at the absolute longest. I wouldn't mind having to drop out early but I'm in medical school and studying waits for no one.

Shadow Lodge

I would be interested in joining. I am a completely new player and only have access to the core book online (hard copy is being shipped). I have a character already made that is pathfinder society legal and ready. If you are not doing a pathfinder society game with chronicle sheets etc just let me know so I can whip together another character. I have a melee Abyssal sorcerer I'm holding onto for for PFS, but have a character concept I'm working on with a Fight/sorccerer mutlticlass that uses the devil blood line that I could substitute for any open ended scenario. I have a working mic and a roll 20 account (aswell as maptools). I also have skype but can migrate to whatever voice program you want.

I would prefer evening or late night games, and as a big favor I would ask that I not be required to speak gibberish, wave my hands wildly or voice change when Rping. I am -5 GMT and available all days. I would like to note one more time if you accept me into the group I am extremely new( will most likely be my first game by the time this starts). I have read the core rules extensively and have been using the rules / advice section of the forum to shape my character and to iron out problems, but I still may ask a bunch of questions during game time.

Hi ET!

the fantastic thing about Paizo is that *all* the rules are available for free here:

www.d20pfsrd.com

Whether its from core rulebook, advanced race guide, ultimate magic, or a specific campaign... its all there.

Hi MP!

I can't play more than one night a week myself with other commitments.

As far as the campaign, rules used, and time we play, I guess that will depend on the GM, which looks to be Axolmotl, and hopefully Kastarr since this was his original interest check.

Ehm, I said I wouldn't be able to GM, but Killer Munch said he would right below my post, so there could be the source of the error or confusion or what have you. I'm not exactly confident enough with my GMing abilities to even run a game with good friends. I am but a humble salamander.

If we could make it 8-12 on Sunday, that would probably be better as I have to be up to work early on Monday mornings.

I'm guessing that's 8 pm-12 am? Which is 2-6 here, which is perfectly doable. 2-6 am could also work, if needed, though it might be a bit tougher.

If 8pm - midnite GMT 0, Sundays works for both Kastarr and Killer Munch. And if they are both happy with a Jade Regent campaign...

Then it looks like the next step would be for Killer Munch to set the parameters... how many players, character creation guidelines, any other questions that would-be players have brought up, etc.

I'm fine with Jade Regent and the time, so just toss me some guidelines, and I'll get right on brainstorming. My only question is about when we're starting. Seems my computer's decided to wreck itself, and my replacement hardware bits did it no good. I've already got it back to the person who built it in the first place, so while it should be back soon, I doubt I'll be seeing it by this Sunday, and though the amount of usefulness crammed into this phone is astounding, it doesn't support Flash. However, if we're so ambitious that tomorrow will be the first session, I might be able to borrow an old laptop from someone.

For the record I normally go to bed around 1am (GMT+1) that prove the needed 5 hours of sleep.

but I know that barely would make it evening for most guys. If that is an issue then I can just "lurk" when ever I have the chance.

I doubt we'll be starting until at least next week, as Killer will need to set up the various locations that we're likely to get through. Might be worth creating characters though.

Alrighty. Starting on characters would probably give us both something to do, and time to make sure we've got at least some variety in roles. Will you be setting guidelines for character creation, or just handing all the GMing shenanigans over to Killer?

Yeah, I'll let Killer set the parameters.

20 points for stats is a good start avrage gold may use all books but leef a url.

So what are you guys thinking?

Shadow Lodge

I just finished making a new character since this doesn't seems like an official PFS.

I have a PDF file with all his stats backstory feats etc. it doesn't seem like this forum will let me attach it though. I used the PCgen 6000 to make him. He has all the legal requirements posted. He's a level 1 fighter named Loke Ardon. I can email or w/e the pdf file or I can just post the entire bulk of the text here if you want.

I'm down for sundays just let me know in advanced.

Barring more eccentric builds (anchor-wielding improvised fighter, scrollmaster/cyphermage, other oddities I make out of boredom), I'll probably use some flavor of summoner. How does everyone feel about Tiefling/Aasimar variant features and heritages, or just non-core in general?

Shadow Lodge

I'm sticking to core personally none of the other race/classes in the advanced or ultimate books interested me.

If there are any rules / special cases in the other books being added I would like to know as I have been reading up only on the core and PFS guidelines.

Dark Archive

Do not mind you can post hear but the ARG will be hard as i do not have it.

I can get you all the info you'll need for any non-core stuff I use, so it shouldn't be too difficult to go through what I'll make.

Shadow Lodge

what is an ARG?

Advanced Race Guide. It has a lot of non-core races, sorta special snowflakey to some people.

Shadow Lodge

PCgen had a way to export a text file so here's the guts of it. Hopefully this will be legal for your campaign I can adjust things as necessary.

Full Description
Loke Ardon stands 6 feet 6 inches tall. His wide muscular frame does little to impede his remarkable dexterity and speed. His skin is brown and a simple dark fade rest on his head. Piercing green eyes sink into what is otherwise an unremarkable plain face.

intro:
I am Loke Ardon and I wish to see the wonders of this world. My reasons are my own.
Background
Loke Ardon has been an adventure for as long as he can remember. His parents raised him on the open road as they sold their wares throughout Golarion. At a young age Loke was found to be quite adept at the martial arts. His father had Loke trained by the captain of his caravan guard. What started out as simple war games and mock battles evolved into brutal military training that shaped Loke into the man he is today. As he came into adulthood it was planned for Loke to take over as the captains successor. None could rival the young warriors speed in battle. What he lacked in power he more then made up for with brutal precision, inhuman reflexes, and unrelenting assaults. All would go as planned until one night in a dream Loke was assailed with vision of a goddess. Her skin was ashen covered with white hot symbols that blazed over her entire body. Her hair was a bright red mess of tangles as if spewed from a volcano. She stood proud and indomitable despite her malnourished appearance and sad eyes that now rested their gaze upon Loke. It was only after looking into the eyes of this inconceivable figure did her story project itself into his mind.

A woman, born into a clan of warriors, she alone was destined to to wield the cursed blade they had protected for centuries. An immeasurable evil had thrown her clan into war with a mad king from distant lands. This evil sought the cursed blade rumored to bestow the wielder with the power of a god. With this heavenly sword they could strike at the heavens themselves unopposed. The war was hard fought and the dangers numerous, however in the end the woman defeated the evil taking the cursed swords power for her own. In doing so she paid with her body and soul damning herself to the nine hells. The vision fades and Loke stands before the goddess once more. " We were born under the same star you and I." she strains a weak smile. " You must find Kai's tomb and free me from this torment." her figure begins to fade. "Find the blade, reject the blade, and give my sacrifice justice." the voice resounds no more.

Loke arises from his hauntingly real dream assured of what he must do. He will seek out the wonders of this world and in doing so gather leads on Kai's tomb. His boring life as a caravan guard captain will be put on hold until he can release the goddess. Even if he must storm the nine hells themselves Loke Ardon will free her, and so he sets off for adventure and destiny.

Hi all, quite a late arrival to the tread, and i see there are already 6 players that dotted interest.

Im dotting my interest as well. Im on GMT -5 and the suggested time works for me (would be Sunday 3-9pm my time). Im new to Pathfinder (had done only PbP games so far) and have never tried the Roll20 VVT or an Adventure Path. Will go ahead and make a character, more than likely a druid, and keep tabs on the tread. Thanks and happy gaming!

I forgot to ask earlier, but how many, if any, traits will be allowed? I was just playing around with this character using a standard PFS limit of two, but I suppose less could work, if that's going to be the case.

Dark Archive

2 and you may use 3pp if you wish.

I'm going to go Zen Archer, a Monk archetype.

Killer Munch/Kastaar,

I'm in Tulsa, so I'm on Central time. Sundays would be fantastic.

May I recommend using an AP that is sanctioned for PFS play?

Otherwise, may I recommend that you keep to core assumption books?

If you're up for that, I'll be happy to both play and possibly run some sessions.

(I'm also good at setting up events, coordinating schedules, reporting session sheets and all the other GM stuff nobody seems to like!)

I have a large college population in my Venture-Captain region, so when finals roll around in December, I'm down to a very small group.

Let me know if you'd like an extra hand.

Best,
Rob

Ehm, what I've got right now is a fetchling, and I don't have a boon for one, if we're going to be using PFS, and it's also not core. I've sorta hopped on board with the whole VTT thing specifically to avoid PFS rules, but if the hosts feel like changing it to that, it's their call. Just wanted to throw my two cents in.

Yeah, I wasn't think PFS specifically with this. I was just thinking a regular Pathfinder session.

My two coppers worth is... i've been roleplaying for 30 years. I've played all the elves, halflings, and dwarves that I care to, and usually yearn to try things that are different. So PFS and core races and classes would probably not suit me.

Its up to the gamemaster of course. Its perfectly fine if he chooses to go that way, but I probably will not join in that case.

Best,
A

Dark Archive

I like it the way it is (even if i do not know what VTT stands for).

Virtual Table Top-- Playing Online together with a shared map and character tokens using something like Maptools or Roll20. Are you familiar enough to host the server? If not, maybe someone could host it for you. I'm not tech proficient enough myself, but I probably have the speed for it if someone walks me thru.

Dark Archive

Well i can do that am not good at maps

Shadow Lodge

I'm going to withdraw from the group. Thank you for the consideration.

With all respect to Killer Munch, it doesn't look like he is familiar with the format (VTT- roll20) that is being requested by the OP. Perhaps he could recruit for a Jade Regent Play by Post, and in the meantime the quest for a Roll20.net GM could resume.

Also perhaps the Original Poster would want to check out Roll20.net directly. Games are being posted that are open to new players. There are a couple that are open now.

Best to Everyone
~A

Yes this seems like is going to be a no go... So I will pull out as well. Good luck all.
