Npc build: reincarnated Druid 5 + what class?

Advice

I want to build an immortal npc, but not ridiculously powerful. I'm thinking reincarnated Druid 5 then five-ish levels of something else. The pc's will run into this character after surviving a subterranean death trap. This npc will be able to offer some insight into what happened.
I'm leaning toward rogue or ranger for the 5 levels for skills and general feel. Ranger could be good if the animal companion stuff stacks.

Going straight Druid could be fun, but I'm using the opportunity to playtest the multiclass options available.

Maybe fighter levels. I'd like the character to be somewhat optimized, though not ridiculously so.

Clearly this is a very open concept at the moment.

Anyone have opinions on what I should do and/or experience with a similar character?

Maybe zen archer.

I have plans for a similar character to meet the party sporatically throughout the campaign, who then goes Time Oracle with a huge UMD but that's an obvious Dr. Who build...

More relevant I do have another build where the Druid goes Monk afterwards since there is a nice synergy with wisdom between the 2 & it adds a lot to flavor. So while mine wasn't a Zen Archer, I'd second the zen archer for multiclassing.

Ranger seems the most natural mix, especially if he takes natural weapon style for use with his wildshape ability. (This does make a very dangerous-in-battle NPCs, be aware.) The Boon Companion Feat will make most of his non-druid levels count towards his animal companion, regardless of what you go for.

Fighter is good if you want to not have to worry about the casting progression of the druid.

Rogue is powerful in it's own way, but also implies a lot more about the chars personality than other classes might. THis could be both good and bad, depending what you want.

Druid/Ranger sounds like a winner. If it's primarily underground, do with deep walker archetype.

The sensei monk is another interesting monk archetype for a druid.

Ranger/druid with the Shapeshifting Hunter feat is solid. Maybe the trapsmith ranger, if you don't want to mess with a pair of stunted spell progressions. He'd also have insight into deathtraps, in that case.

Reincarnated Druid with 4 levels of Ranger taking Boon Companion and Shape Focus could make for a very nice build for a recurring NPC.

Hummm... So many choices.

Pathfinder Delver, boy oh boy are you a hard to kill person. Fits with your "survived a deathtrap" idea as well. The 5th level ability really makes you into a cockroach.

Zen Archer, or any monk

Why is that a good combo?

Edit: nevermind. I get it.

You become a ridiculously hard to kill rogue with 3rd level druid spells. If you do die you come back again later.

I've also puttered around with Dawnflower Dissident reincarnated druid, but I've had trouble picking up channel energy (as in the named ability, no just one of the channels that affects elementals)

I'm leaning heavily toward ranger or zen archer. Probably the latter.
