I received reports of boon trading not going as it should - i.e. people are paying money for boons and/or boons are being sold but not sent. I would remind everyone that while trading is encouraged, selling is discouraged and not holding up an end of a bargain is disreputable.

It is heavily frowned upon to sell these boons. I provide them as a way to boost support to a con. At this time, there isn't much I can do about it. If it becomes a rampant problem, then we will reevaluate. This is similar to someone who wins a autographed book at a con and then puts it up for auction. Once it is in the person's possession, it is their property to do with as they wish. But, selling free boons doesn't sit well with me. It is the reason I don't make these boons better than they currently are. I can't tell you no to sell them. But, I would ask you to use some judgement and restraint in the matter as this kind of thing greatly disappoints me. Thanks to the seller for removing them.

I need a tiefling for Paizocon. Spending a thousand dollars to go to a convention to find out that I can't play my main is honestly making me feel really distraught. I guess I can't Charlie Bucket this and say that I deserve to be able to play it more because I want it more, but then, I am writing a novel about her and she is a character featured in a (I think) somewhat prominent upcoming 3pp book.
The only boon I have is the Emerald Potion thing from the online game. I'd be willing to part with any or all boons I get AT Paizocon. Or work something out. Or beg. I'm begging.

I'm willing to bargain on my friend's behalf, and/or add to his Emerald Spire Boon. I don't have much, but I do have a bit! Namely, Psychic Dilettante, Prophetic Dream and the ACG boon Heirloom Relic (lets you get a card of the next tier as an upgrade as soon as you tier up for free)

As someone who is for the first time able to go to Gencon.. I wouldn't consider doing all the work required for T1 without a more exclusive reward.
It worries me that making the race unexclusive might bump something like the prestige classes from paths of the righteous into those rewards. In my opinion that be a complete disaster.

If it is Vanara, that is super disappointing. That was indeed GenCon T1 Boon 2016.Eight months as an exclusive is disappointing?
As opposed to Samsaran that has had 2 years? Yes.
Don't get me wrong though. I have no problem with gencon tier boons becoming seasonal gm boons. But statistically, grippli, ratfolk, and samsaran had a significant amount of exclusivity than the vanaran.

As someone who is for the first time able to go to Gencon.. I wouldn't consider doing all the work required for T1 without a more exclusive reward.
I wish you a lot of fun there; and I don't begrudge you getting a nice exclusive boon or more.
I suppose I kind of envy you for being able to go there; when you're living in Europe it gets a bit expensive to fly to the US for a convention.

I wonder though if the threshold to travel to a Con elsewhere in the US is lower than it is to travel to elsewhere in Europe? I considered going to Paizocon France (before stuff happened) but that's a significant language barrier. Meanwhile, over here a successful Con is one that beats the 15-table requirement to count as a Con in the first place.
I don't mind so much for the boons (by now I've got a pile I don't get around to using because I've run out of low-level scenarios to play). But it quite sour when last year Through Maelstrom Rift (a storywise very relevant scenario) was restricted to Cons with at least 24 tables.
Maybe Paizo should consider whether some of those "we're saving this for the biggest Con in an area" limits should be more relative instead of absolute numbers?
Being told "you have to travel to a foreign country to play this scenario" gives that swell "nose pressed against the glass" feeling.

I guess I'm more concerned it be a charity raffle reward. That's too exclusive for so many prestige classes.
In general I like some level of exclusivity though. It makes it feel like an actual award.
Also the U.S. is very big guys. Just because the travel is domestic doesn't mean it isn't a very large distance.

I'll be honest I thought it was going to be changeling since it was T4-5 last year and that it be rotated off the Gencon sheet.
It also could have been Fetchling since it has been been a long time since that was available.
I'm fairly sure Samsaran will never be given out like it was in the past. Maybe as a reborn samsaran only. There's a reason it wasn't on Gencon 2016 boon.

I mean, in addition to the boon we got free lodgings for GenCon, plus a free copy of a hardcover (Horror Adventures last year), plus a sizable sum of store credit that was good for use within the Paizo Store at the convention. (I ended up buying ALL of the flip mats used in Cosmic Captive with my store credit.)
Exclusivity for a character is okay and all, but having gotten HUNDREDS of dollars worth of other stuff I certainly don't feel like I lost out.
(Seriously, it was like four or five flip mats!)
