Ok, enough with debating on this thread. Take it over to the rules forum.
Ok guys we need help to:

Seems he is saying nothing has changed.
It functions much like the Boot Blade, Barbazu Beard, Dwarven Boulder Helmet, Ratfolk Tailblade, Kobold Tail Attachment, or Unarmed Strike.
Did rules team answer this somewhere?.
I don't see a FAQ entry here for the Core Rulebook, yet.

Likely cause they don't feel there is any ambiguity.
There's no reason to suspect that one needs a hand free to kick!

Of all the "hands-free" weapons, Armor Spikes seems to get the most hate.
Makes no sense, and doesn't change how they function, but that's how it is.
Depending on the armor and PC, I tend to flavor it as a shoulder check, or pelvic thrust.
The pelvic thrust....really drives you insaaaaaane....!
