15 gold a day is rather spendy, unless your an adventurer, think of what that would really translate to, in terms of people who arent raiding dragon hoardes weekly.
if it's that much of a bother, buy a ring of sustenance and spend 15g a week.
Paladin 3. Pick fatigue for your mercy. As long as your Charisma is at least 10, you can lay on hands to remove fatigue once per day, obviating the need for sleep as long as you don't care about spellcasting.

In Psionics Expanded there is an alternate racial trait for Duergar (the Psionics Unleashed version) which removes the need to sleep. You still have to meditate for 4 hours to gain the benefits of sleep, but you are fully awake and aware.
So that "power" lets them do exactly what WotC elves can do....yay!

technically DnD vampires dont need to "sleep" they return to the coffin to regenerate after being dropped to 0 hp, but they dont HAVE to sleep.
