I have put all Venture Officers on the reserve GM list, but as you've (foolishly) said this I will move you to the top! We are finalising GMing duties and tables so I will let you know very soon if you will get your chance to inflict, er I mean to GM some players.
If you are in a pickle you can count on me as well Dave.

We just need someone to GM... :-)
I agree! I know my ego counts as a full party....but somehow paizo won't recognise that....so hey, players and GM wanted!

To be clear, this is NOT for anyone who is already signed-in to play the adventure on Sunday afternoon. It's for those who must leave early for planes and trains and therefore would miss it or at least miss the end of it. They have first call, but it would also be a good slot zero for an GM who wants to play it before running it.
I don't think we have finalised a venue yet.

So very much looking forward to this, especially "Siege of the Diamond City" - got a Paladin level 8 waiting to kick some demon ass :-).
I'm really looking forward to GMing this! It looks amazing.
The only problem is that I'm stuck in a limbo state at the moment: I don't know whether to start preparing in earnest now (and it needs some preparation) or wait to see if the pre-release PDF gets updated over the next couple of weeks...

Early play for Rivalry's End
Dear Auke and crowd
I have spoken with Gosta Green pub and they would be delighted to have you on the Friday afternoon. They will save you a table if we remind them closer to the time. I said you were mostly well behaved and probably wouldn't break any furniture or start any barroom brawl...so be good or I’m in trouble. The contact there is Stefan (0121 359 0044) and they are open from 11.00am.
Would anyone who is playing this please let us know because we will need to re-format the tables on Sunday to make up for the gaps. Thanks v much.

That's a pretty good offer, but you have to pay upfront and there's no refunds for cancellations (I'm a pessimist).
Also, I don't get paid until next week anyway, so I can't afford it yet :-/

Anyone else available to play a game (or two) on thursday/friday?
Maya Deva, Veleda (8) and me will be arriving on thursday, and I find myself needing two scenario's to get to the level 5 I told warhorn I would be :) We have a semi-selfsufficient table (with the use of an iconic); we've played a lot of earlier scenarios, with not that many year 3's and no year 4's.
See you next week!

I can't guarantee that I'll be available to play/run on Thursday/Friday, but I'll be your GM on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to give me a shout about anything I can help with, here I am!

Motorway Roadworks in the vicinity of Birmingham (and of PaizoCon UK 2013):
M6, Southbound, Junctions 7 to 6
Scheduled to be closed between Monday (15th July) and Thursday (18th July).
***

Ongoing repairs to the underside of the viaduct are not expected to affect traffic on the motorway, although may result in the closure of the A4031 which runs underneath the viaduct.

Repairs to the Pendock Sledge Green & Queens Arms ‘overbridges’ and to the Ripple and Bushley Viaducts may result in lane closures in these sections of the M50.
Other Notes

Weather forecast for this weekend currently (as of 16th July, 2013) looking hot and sunny for Birmingham by UK standards.
And we'll be indoors all day, sat around a table :-)
Thank goodness for windows! Make sure those are open, otherwise it'll get a little... aromatic!
Less than a week!

Curry...I just realized where we will be eating Friday evening. I sure hope they have non-hot/spicy dishes (or the option to have them not spicy) as my stomach is very sensitive and doesn't agree with that kind of cuisine.
Sebastian, they can do a non-curry option by advanced request. See here for menu and details.

For those playing We be goblins too! (singalong version (nasty)) characters will be provided, other goblins will only be accepted if they meet the silk/pollard/Evans/Harrison cabal's approval, in writing, or those who play the kazoo and eat a madras the night before. Choir practice at 7am sharp, Saturday.
I would like to remind players that bribes are not accepted by the gm the night before.
Mnnnnnnarrrrrrrr!

Yup a Balti is a curry and the curries that they serve in Birmingham's Balti Triangle tend to be quite fiery. Adils is no exception and it is a set menu.
We don't want to exclude anyone and we offered to take orders IN ADVANCE for omelette and chips as an alternative main course. So far I only have two requests. I can probably still arrange it if you let me know NOW.
There are also fish and vegetarian options in the shared selection of dishes.

I would just like to point out that Mr Pett uses the term 'cabal' loosely in his above post and doesn't mean to imply that several of the Paizocon UK organisers are evil flesh-eating cultists seeking to conquer the world with legions of multi-headed firebreathing bees. Just to pick an example totally at random, I mean.

Flesh-eating cultists are soooooo last millenium. Now *THIS* may be last millenium, too, but does it ever go out of date?

Ok then! Well, that's good to know. Adil's don't do a Madras (unfortunately) but I'll see what I can do. Also missing my kazoo as my youngest has managed to lose it in his bedroom. I think he would make a good goblin to be honest.
Singing wise, as long as I get given lyrics I'm there with bells on! I've sung on the telly y'know!
Finally, I don't mind which goblin I play, as long as they are good at running away
It's really hard using this forum with an Android browser!

Considering how close we are to the Con now, this board is pretty quiet ( I'm getting deja vu right now...)
It's the heat - it makes the packets swell up and they get stuck in the internet tubes.
I'm currently fortifying myself with pies before braving the M25 and M40. The car is currently groaning under the weight of the applied-at-the-last-minute roof box. For some reason, the boot is full of tiny bottles of paint...

Okay, I feel for you.
But I'm riding with Snorter.
Wish him luck!

UPDATE ON SITUATION IN BIRMINGHAM
The Birmingham Mail today announced in its main front page article that rival political protests are apparently scheduled to take place on Saturday (20th July, 2013) in Chamberlain Square and Centenary Square (in the area around the Town Hall and Museum/Art Gallery). Lots of police and road-blocks are expected in that part of the city centre.
Whilst hopefully this is sufficiently remote from Aston not to directly affect us, travel in/around the city centre from late morning to early evening that day may be disrupted.
Paz |
I've not seen it mentioned above, but I may have just missed it:
The A38 tunnels in central Birmingham are closed from tomorrow, and will stay closed for six weeks. There is further info, including alternative routes, on that site.

Well, at least some people made it to Aston University, even if one or two of our foreign visitors may have had to call off at the last minute for reasons of illness or business.
Balti night hopefully under way by now. Hosts were massing at the Gosta Green in the rear 'pub garden' prior to the pre-taxi photo when I left.

An excellent weekend! For any UK (or further afield, this was a truly internationally flavoured weekend) roleplayers who haven't yet attended, I thoroughly suggest that you do. Organisation was brilliant, from my viewpoint anyway, and everyone was very welcoming.
The Balti Night was a great icebreaker and served to let people get to know each other before the carnage the next day.
Indeed, my only complaint was that it had to end. That, and that I've now got to get two planes back to work, but I wouldn't have it any other way! :D
So... 2014? ;)

A great weekend of gaming! This was my third PaizoCon UK; the first one was great and each year is an improvement on the last.
I'll post more detailed thoughts later, but for now I just want to thank:
the superb organisers for doing an excellent job,
the GMs for running some great games,
the players for getting stuck in and creating some great moments at the table,
and Paizo for their support of the event and convention play in Europe as a whole!

One more PaizoCon - and I enjoyed it a lot once more.
It always seems stressful - getting a whole family organized with last minute character audits and leveling up, preparing scenarios, getting all my scenery with me.
And I really hate the drive from East Kent on a Friday afternoon having to get around Dartford and part of the M25
But the great atmosphere and meeting up with so many friends is always worth it.
This time I actually managed to play a game. And I enjoyed the players at my table - some faces I had seen before - some new to me.
So thanks to the organizers and the players at my table who made this a journey worthwhile once again.
