Now that everyone's had a chance to recover from the excitement of 2012, (and get a summer of sport out of the way) it seemed about time to get a thread rolling for PaizoCon UK 2013.
Although PaizoCon UK 2013 is still a ways off yet, I will mention (as Rob does on the PaizoCon UK site) that OddCon is coming up in Telford in mid-October.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

I see that the PaizoCon UK site has a banner saying that next year's event is 20-21 July at Aston Uni; is this confirmed? If so, I'll book some accommodation now as there are some very cheap deals on offer this far out.

Any idea when con booking will open?

Scarab Sages 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Captain, Isles—Online

those dates are confirmed
dont forget the friday night balti...

Those dates are confirmed.
I intend to open bookings as soon after Conception as possible.

Just booked at Aston Business School and the rates are now over £50.00 per night at the discount. This is roughly, the person I spoke to didn't do the VAT add-on and I don't quite remember the price, about £43 I think, which would make it 51.60) - is that correct?

I believe that is correct. That price should include breakfast.

It does include breakfast, but please compare with the following, from laterooms:

Conference Aston Hotel ASTON STREET THE ASTON TRIANGLE, BIRMINGHAM, B4 7ET

Arrival date Fri 19 July 2013
No. of nights 2
No. of rooms 1

Room One - Classic Single Room sleeps 1

Mr Matt Devney

Cooked Breakfast

No. of Adults 1
No. of Children 0

Room cost £76.00
Breakfast cost £13.00
Total cost of stay £89.00

Isn't that cheaper?

It is. Unfortunately we have no influence over the deals Aston make with Laterooms or anywhere else. My understanding is that booking through Laterooms carries some other risks - particularly that other customers have priority if too many rooms get booked.

Really looking forward to it! We are hoping for a respectable* Irish contingent this year.

Minor point: a few of us have stayed at "The Old Coach House" in Digbeth during the last couple of years, and I'm afraid to stay we've been very disapointed each time. Might I suggest it's not promoted on the site this year?

[* In terms of numbers rather than reputations anyway!]

I´l have to look into it as soon as possible.

Very keen to come to this!

Only played in one Pathfinder Society game and had great fun. Missing UK Games Expo so determined to get to this!

More places this year. We are looking at 150+ places which would give us plenty of space as we will have three rooms booked.

I may be moving to the UK from the Seattle area. It will be nice to go from PaizoCon in the Pacific Northwest to PaizoCon in the UK. I am pretty excited!

Time to get on with some more ape-related shenanigans.

We never found that escaped girallon, did we, Dazylar?
It's probably still out there, biding its time to STRIKE!

Not sure I ever played with you last year Snorts - Dave probably got complaints from before and kept us apart...

Dave, please ensure this year I get to pester Snorter in at least 2 sessions (depending on tier, of course :-)

also, still awaiting booking opening!

I shall make it so!

We hope to have booking open very soon so please bear with us.

Booked for Sat and Sun GMing one game. I likely won't stay for the Saturday evening session though so I will play 3, run 1. Looking forward to it!

Mrs. PFS and I are signed up. I'm scheduled to GM a couple of slots as well!

Liberty's Edge 1/5

I just signed up for my games, I barely had space to sign up for my GM slot! I elected to run 4–22: Halls of Dwarven Lore (Tier 5-9), higher tier than I would have liked, but there you go, with my first PFS character bordering on level 6 (running this scenario will take him up to 6) I guess I will have to get used to higher tiers and all that entails :)

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

I assume there are plenty more tables to go up on Warhorn... at least I hope so, or this is a much smaller con than last year!

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

I imagine the number of warhorn tables will increase as the number of people signed up increases. Also each GM has to email Dave or Rob to get access to the sheet, so I imagine they're taking care not to put up too many more tables than they have signed-up GMs at any given time.

Argh! I've been signed up to a new trade show that weekend. it's only a one-dayer though so I my be able to wrangle either Friday balti and Saturday morning or Sunday. If I can I'll sign up to GM for you Dave. Of cause You'll be getting a Mogs either way ;-)

I didn't need to email to sign up to GM, I guess because I paid for Sat & Sun GMing 1 game. Unless you're referring to something else?

Huh, I thought somewhere it asked GMs to e-mail the organisers, but maybe I'm just making that up. Entirely possible. Ignore me!

The Exchange 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Mediterranean

GMs should feel free to email me about running games. The online stuff is more for organising players. There will certainly be more tables as we'll be even bigger than last year.

Digital Mage - if you would prefer to run something lower level then email me and we can sort it out. I find personally arranging such things is far easier than trying to fit into the online stuff.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/5

As Dave says, it is very, very early days and we still have plenty of capacity for more tables of any adventure. It would have been foolish for us to open up 20 plus tables and find there wasn't enough demand or to split the adventures half low level and half high level and find we had a very heavy demand for low level adventures.
By opening up just a few tables we will gauge player demand and tailor the mix to meet demand as we go along. At the moment we have a lot of smart, organised GMs who have registered very promptly. We need a lot more players to sign up before we know how we need to deploy our GMs.
Warhorn offers GMs and players the flexibility to change their choice of game. We'll keep that facility open until much closer to the event.
When you REGISTER, you/we get sent and email advice. When you PAY, you/we get an email advice. When we CLEAR you, to book into games you/we get an email advice. Then you can click on EDIT PROFILE and choose your games.
Warhorn isn't our own software and it isn't entirely intuitive or forgiving. If anyone has serious problems they can still send in a booking form and a cheque, dirty fivers or a bank transfer and I will be delighted to set up their Warhorn registration and game booking for them. Don't hesitate to ask.
Everything will be just fine. [Famous last words.]

Scarab Sages

Registered on Warhorn for both days. I'll fill out the specific table info when I get back home.

I've booked the room, but the parking seems to be a different price (£4.50 during the day, £1 overnight). Am I doing that right?

Scarab Sages

Received a confirmation email re the parking, they're offering £7.50 for the whole weekend, Friday afternoon through Monday morning, which I'm happy with.

You're going down Friday afternoon?! And back on the Monday? Bloomin' 'eck! I'll see you when I get there Bob! And leave you there when I come back on Sunday!

Also, I'll be late for the balti (I'll be in New Street for 8pm), but please try to save me a seat!

Dave, when does the last game finish on Sunday? I know Warhorn says 6, but is that a median of all the end times for the various GMs?
Basically, if I get a train at 7, will I miss the end?

Demolition/rebuilding work on New Street Station expected to move into a new phase as of the end of April, 2013. Looks like Games Expo may have made a good call deciding to move out to the NEC this year.
Will try to keep an eye on what level of chaos ensues to see how badly impacted those planning on travelling by train via New Street may end up being. At the very least the current taxi rank is disappearing and some of the current station entrances/exits are due to be closed.

Thanks Charles - I'm going to presume they'll let me out/in to catch my train, but any updates will be very welcome!

You should be fine with a 7pm train from New Street.

Be aware that the Balti is in a different location to last year.

Depends if your PCs can hit the broad side of a barn, or not.

And if Mike allows the villains to escape via speedboat, so only the summoned critters can engage them, eh?

Scarab Sages

Sent £36.40 to you, Rob. I don't think I managed to include the Balti cost in that figure, so do I need to send supplementary funds?

And Matt gave me the heads-up on my mention on the site.
I am suitably flattered, but mine isn't the best article in that issue, and I'm sure I can't be the only contributor attending. I would like to one day sit down with Gworeth and zhlphrx(?) from Euroland, as well as one day meet Lilith, Shiny, Hugo, Ashton or any of the other regulars who've been so supportive of Mrs Snorter's art.

I booked my places last night. Apart from the 'Goblins!' slot (which is run with pregens), every other event puts everyone into a large pool, from which they'll presumably select tables based on the declared PC levels.

I wasn't sure if the chronicle from the Goblin game would be applicable to any PC, like last year, so one of my games I may go in as level 6 instead of 5, but I've picked slots that allow for that levelling up.

I think you'll be a level or two behind my primary PC, in each slot, so we won't meet, unless I change my mind and run my grandfathered Season 0 Rogue PC.
I'd rather keep him in reserve in case of accidental death, and because part of the reason for playing PFS for me is to test newer material in a non-home setting.
Though, given the fact that he's blown up or burnt down most of the places he's sent, a dalliance with Alchemist may be in order?

Scarab Sages

Not everyone has declared what PC they're planning to use, maybe they expect to get some games in before July?

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

It's more down to the fact that I don't know what everyone else will be playing. I will have three characters of approx. 5th/6th level by July, so will want to play subtier 5-6 of a tier 5-9 scenario, but I don't know if my cleric, ranger, or gunslinger will be most appropriate. Warhorn doesn't let you put in just a level (leaving the class blank) as far as I can tell.

It's entirely up to you Bob - I missed out on Paizocon 2011 (I hated 2011) so the gap is to be expected. I don't mind playing up a tier though - paladins are pretty hardy...

At least I'm with you at Mr. Pett's table. Should be fun :-)

Yikes; I'm at that table too...

We'll try not to pimp out your PC in exchange for a boat trip, this time.
I can't imagine there'd be many takers, anyway; not for Chuffy Lickwound, or Skabby Boilgurgle, or whoever you get.

I could be the handsome one: -2 Cha isn't that bad...

although saying that, I am kinda ignoring the fact we'll be goblins (too)...

Will be good to play with you Paz - even if it is 'painful'!

Unless Richard actually hits us as we play. He would be right about it not being fun then (masochists excepted)!

Train ticket back booked!

£13.50 one way to Leeds isn't bad.

Now let's just hope nothing awful happens to Snorter's car between now and July or we're both scuppered!
