PROJECT ETERNITY is now PILLARS OF ETERNITY, complete with some highly promising gameplay footage. No release date, though a window of mid-to-late 2014 is still expected.

More info. Sounds promising: the 15-level mega-dungeon is in and insanely big. Apparently one of the approaches is to periodically return to it throughout the game since it is far too tough to clear in one pass.
On the length of the overall game, apparently one of their testers took a full working day (presumably 8-10 hours) to complete just three quests. It certainly sounds like the game will be huge.

That's some really great, concrete info. It sounds like development is really progressing. This next year is going to see Kickstarter's first huge CRPG releases, and it will be fun to see if their critical and commercial success translates to another round of insane funding. And it sounds like Obsidian wants to do another one? My wallet is ready.

SHADOWRUN RETURNS is already out and apparently did pretty well, well enough for them to expand the expansion from a modest new campaign to something much bigger. But that was relatively low-key compared to BROKEN AGE, ETERNITY, TIDES OF NUMENERA, STAR CITIZEN, ELITE 4 and WASTELAND 2. Apart from CITIZEN and NUMENERA (both due in 2015), all of them are coming out in 2014 so yeah, this year is going to be the biggest test of it.
Apparnetly Obsidian are talking to RPS again tomorrow and will be discussing their next project, which they will also be taking to Kickstarter and won't be PILLARS OF ETERNITY II.

Honestly, I wouldn't want their next project to be Pillars of Eternity II. I want them to wait, recharge their ideas about the world and the game, and hear feedback. For the first 2 years after this one gets released, I hope they don't do anything but jot down ideas for the next one in a to be discussed later folder. Trying to push out too much just leads to burnout.

Yeah, from what I understand (I haven't played it myself; still idling in my Steam library) Shadowrun Returns is fairly limited in terms of out-of-the-box gameplay. While it does share the $1+ million space with those other games, I have trouble considering a CRPG large if it doesn't manage to pack at least 30 hours of gameplay into it. And 40 hours really strikes me as the gold standard for these sorts of things.

All my dollars.

I still have to finish Baldur's gate too (the first, plus the expansion pack Tales of the Sword Coast).
Check....Baldur's....Check.....OK
Don't even remember where i left (but in the meanwhile my Icewind Dale party consists of Human Paladin 26; Human Fighter 30; Half elf Thief 30; Elf Mage 24; Elf Druid 30; Dwarf Cleric 30).
Am eager to play Pillars of Eternity!!!

Where Shadowrun Returns really shines is it's content generation tools. The build in campaign was a little short, but there is A LOT of player generated campaigns out there, some of which are as good as the official one. The Berlin expansion is going to be released in January which will be another 30 hour full length campaign, and will have several other gameplay improvements.
I was very pleased with my decision to fund it, and still play it.

U can still give them ur money because they have their backer site up. That trailer was freakin awesome! Gah so glad I backed that one. Wish I coulda backed wasteland 2 but they have the demo for sale on steam. Divinty origins of sin I think sounds really ppromising as well.
Why o why can't their be more hours in the day reserved for strictly gameplay? Sigh father of 4, full time job, dm every week.....dammit I want to finish up morrowind so I can go back and play fo1&2, and baldurs gate 1&2....but I know I will be purchasing wasteland 2 tomorrow...
Sigh this has been a blessing and a curse.

PILLARS OF ETERNITY will now be published by Paradox.
This doesn't affect anything at all - it's a partnership, not a subordinate thing - apart from the fact that ETERNITY will now have more of a marketing campaign and Paradox can push the game on their huge European fanbase a lot more, as well as Obsidian being able to target Western markets. The game will be released via GoG and Steam as planned (a physical release hasn't entirely been ruled out either) and backers will still get a copy of the finished game plus their other rewards.
Good news all around, I think. The game is still due to come out in late 2014.

Good news! Paradox are pretty awesome.
Of course, now's their chance to spontaneously turn evil and, I dunno, take The Pillars of Eternity alpha build and release it as a full game tomorrow! And then blame all the bugs on Obsidian.
(Disclaimer: This is just a joke and would, obviously, never happen in the real world.)
