RP good / neutral cleric control undead

Advice

Hey so first off. I only play homebrew.

Now. I'm a cleric, who happens to be neutral.

I've taken most of the channel feats (selective, improved, versatile, command undead) but need an awesome reason why I always have skeletons with me.

Be it body guards, anthropologist, just something.

We have quite a creative table, and nothing will sound to dumb. Esp since I'm reading this and can't hear it ;)

Shoot me some suggestions por favor.

It would be nice to get some specifics on the god, church and the religion in general. Other thing that matters is how being undead affects the soul. If it binds the soul(be it all or some undead) only reason not destroying them would be that the soul in question is too dangerous to be left unattended or as punishment.

But I could see it as pure practicality, if left uncontrolled these creatures would be a problem, now they can be used to further worthy goals.

My first concern would be regarding how your deity feels about the undead. Also, unless your homebrew changed the spell descriptor, Animate Dead is evil.

That said, are these skeletons just random people that you animate, or are they specific people? Depending on the scenario, you may gain some ground explaining that the skeletons are the animated bodies of willing volunteers from your faith that offered their physical remains to be used in service of their deity.

oh my god. my god. he is alvis. god of drinking and revenge. but not a revenge on a small scale.

on a world domination scale. (i'm a big fan of 80s super villans and booze).

these will be random skeletons. i will bluff my way out of whatever trouble i get in. yes, i took faith in wisdom so i could lie effeciently. muhahahah.

ok im at work and i'm going to lunch.

You and a friend have a running bet for a bottle of fine (incert booze) that the other could not have more undead up for long then the other. The two of you are childhood friends so the honor system is used and understood neither of you would lie, beside if you either did the other would raise the lier's mother as a zombie. You check in with each other yearly to drink, share stories, claim your prize, and set the terms of next year's bet.

My first thought, for what it is worth.

The corpses could be donated to the church if using animate dead and not just channeling. Would not be far fetched in my opinion that some of the followers would give their bodies to the church if they were used as guards of holy sites and such usually.

Other idea would be the punishment thing I mentioned earlier. Since this is god of revenge, I would wager that the god would not be the forgiving kind so the church could have taken a habit of using the remains of their enemies as tools to fight for them. Some zealots from other church made a crusade against the church as their dogma forbid drinking, they where slaughtered and now their remains(and souls if it is so in the setting) serve the church or something like that.

pretty good.
