Okay. I'm 99.92% locked in on a title; pending Erik getting back to the office tomorrow with approval, I know what this AP is going to be called. I'm not gonna announce it here yet, but when I do, I'll do what I can to explain why some of the other common themes in titles DIDN'T get selected, and I'll list the titles that made the short list and explain why THEY didn't get selected since folks seem to want a glimpse behind the scenes as to what makes a good title for us...

SO! No more need for titles, and tomorrow I'll head on back with the news!

And thanks again to everyone who threw titles out there... Awesome!!!!

Thanks for letting us participate in the process. It's been a blast.

Aww... Missed it by *that* much! Now I just have to wait for the official title to be posted and I could be a wiener and claim, "That's exactly what I was going to propose!" :P

Seriously, this AP name rolls off the tongue.

All this talk of musicals and Glee made me smile, but I wasn't going to comment or add to the various jokes.

But then I had a vision of James, Rob, Adam, and Wes—for good measure and round it out to an even four, made into NPCs who act as a Greek chorus commenting on the actions, feelings, motives, and the progress of the PCs.

.....Alright, I'll go for that. :D

Not important. The Wabbit is bait for the Rex Trap.

After "classic" business hours. Paizo doesn't truck with that. Specifically... MY business hours at Paizo run from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

That said... please hold!

My suggestion would've been something like...

"All Hope Abandoned"

As a reference to what Dante wrote was inscribed on the gates of Hell.

Ok. Got the clearance from Up High.

Here are the titles that got written down in my Moleskin notebook as possibilities, along with reasons why they ended up NOT being the right title:

The Worldwound Redemption: "Worldwound" is a somewhat awkward word for some folks to say. It's also not a word that means anything to someone who doesn't know about Golarion. Since our distributors don't necessarily know about Golarion stuff, this word doesn't mean anything to them. Using the word "Worldwound" in a single adventure title is less onerous than branding an entire Adventure Path with that word. Furthermore... the adventure path isn't actually about redeeming the actual Worldwound, and that's the BIG reason this title didn't make it—it's just not accurate.

The Apocalypse Plague: A cool name, but not for an adventure path about fighting demons. "Plague" means sickness, and disease and sickness may have metaphorical elements in this adventure path, but there's not an actual plague going on. Again... this title is not accurate. Also... it abbreviates to AP. The AP AP sounds silly.

Mythic Crusade: Too generic.

Demonbane: I like one-word titles when we can get them, but in the end, "Demonbane" is just not descriptive enough. It's also a made-up word, although it's pretty obvious what it means... it's still not as strong as a real word.

Wounded World: "Wounded" is still kinda hard to say for some folks. And it's not the WHOLE world that's suffering.

Dawn Crusade: A cool name, but Dawn is more associated with Sarenrae than Iomedae, and while Sarenrae will have some play in this AP, Iomedae's the more important one. Naming the AP after someone other than Iomedae is silly.

The Redemption Crusade: Same basic problem with "The Worldwound Crusade."

And those were the ones that got written down. If folks want to ask about other popular ones that I didn't think were worth writing down... ask away.

As for why I chose "Wrath of the Righteous"...

1) Everyone I mentioned the title to here at Paizo liked it. That was not the case for any other suggested title, including ones I'd come up with.

2) It abbreviates to WotR which isn't a disguised curse word and doesn't match any other AP abbreviation. It could end up being called the "Water Adventure Path" but I'm fine with that.

3) It has alliteration with the two "R" sounds at the start of each word, which makes it easy and fun to say out loud.

4) It is accurate in describing the Adventure Path—this is the adventure path where the good guys go in and kick some serious ass. The good guys have HAD ENOUGH!!!!

5) The word "wrath" is a deadly sin, and demons are associated with those things, so it fits thematically with an AP that's about lots of demons.

Heh, one letter/word away from being a disaster:

If he had gone Wrath of the Crusaders, we could have had the WOTC AP.

I like the Wrath of the Righteous, nice and alliterative.

It's also probably the best associate to demons among all the seven sins, with devils taking the bulk of the other sins.
