Iormel |

"How is it that you have guards of the town helping you out by loading crates from your barn into a wagon? This sounds like you are using town resources for your own purposes? How can you be so selfish to take advantage of the town guards when there are other elderly folk that could use their help? I'm am surprised that you are letting them do the heavy work for you. I thought you had more morale fiber, Fortkeep! If you were a decent sort you would dismiss them immediately!"

Durgin Fortkeep |

Suddenly, Durgin Fortkeep places the ring on his finger and exclaims in a voice much more sure of himself than before.
"I will not have you telling me what to do, Iormel! Begone and don't bother me again! Go take care of your own house and I will see you when this battle is over! I just wonder who will still be standing in the end!"
Durgin draws his sword and approaches the two town guards who are loading up the wagon with the crates.
"There is no need for you to continue! Did you hear Iormel, from the town council? He wants you out of here helping the elderly! I will finish off the work with the wagon. I will even explain it to Captain Soranna. Now scram, before the horde comes in and crushes you! Go help somebody who really needs it!"
Intimidate 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
The two guards look at each other, shrug their shoulders and depart.
Once the guards leave, Durgin continues packing up the wagons himself with the crates from the barn.

•Sunday, Rova 30, 4710; 3 hours after noon •
Crossing the ferry and making your way through the town, you are met by Norro Wiston coming out of the old Toll House.
"Hello, my friends. Thank you again for all of your help. We are making progress, and think we will have the town evacuated by sundown. I cannot thank you enough for all you have done. So where will you go when you are finished here? I suspect your work will not be done until the horde reaches the walls of Brindol!"

Tirion Jörðhár |

If I could have remained on Bofus' side of the river, I would have preferred that. In case something happened. I trust the halfling, but we all know that there is something seriously wrong. If I had my choice, I would have asked the Captain if we could hold up in the guard post.

I'll stick around to see whether Durgin actually loads the crates, or gets "distracted"

Mornin' m'lords! Like Othrek says, Oi'm Thordak, son of Throtgar. he says, resting his hands on the table and looking around. Oi came here te muster tha Holds because tha Vale is under attack. Now Oi'm not sure how much ye all already know, but here's tha short version. There's a horde o' hobgoblins, giants, manticores, some dragony-things, an' at least one big red bastard of a dragon. They call themselves "The Red Hand," an they worship some dragon lady. Oi think they're plannin' te raise some undead in tha Blackfens, too. Te tha best of moi knowledge, they're about three thousand strong, an' headed fer tha vale. Now Oi was able te take down tha bridge over Skull Gorge in order te slow 'em, but they'll make it 'round 'ventually. Oi'm headed te meet up with moi friends who're helpin' evacuate towns in tha way. Oi'm headed to Nimon's Gap, where we're gonna try fer a bottleneck. After that, we'll make fer Brindol to make use o' tha walls an' defenses there.

Durgin works quietly but diligently loading up the wagons with the remaining crates of red steel weapons. After he completes the task, he covers the back of the wagon with a canvas tarp, climbs aboard and clicks the horses onward.
"Giddyap!"
Driving out of his yard, Durgin leads the horses westward along the Dawn Way away from Drellin's Ferry.

"Of course you are welcome to stay here in the guard post." Soranna pulls out her keys and unlocks the door. "Please make yourselves at home. These are pretty simple buildings, but whatever we have you are welcome to use. Do you think there is any reason to be concerned? My men will soon be finished up loading the wagon and the rest of the town will soon be ready and we can begin the exodus to Brindol. Durgin himself seems quite normal at the moment. Well, aside from his love of that ring. But I suppose that is in character too. Well, if you need me, I will be back at the Old Toll House. I will see you soon. Fare well."

well, in THAT case . . .
I'll boogie back to the guard house and see who's there. Once I arrive . . .
Huff--huff--huff--Durgin . . . fooled Brother D . . . me too. Phwew. OK . . . Iormel came to Durgin's farm, and they had a bit of a pissing match. Iormel called Durgin out for getting help from the guard with loading the wagon, "Others need help more!", so Durgin sent them away with Iormel. Durigin laoded the wagon, but he's headed *west,* toward the gorge, not east toward Brindol, with those weapons! We've got to stop him before he gets too far.
(if the captain is still there I'll address her) Captain, we'll try to capture Durigin, but I can't guarantee that deadly force won't be necessary. He's clearly very, very wily and has more tricks up his sleeve than meets the eye!!
.
Ready gentlemen?? Let's stop that wagon!!

Tirion Jörðhár |

Anyone need a horse to catch that wagon?
Cast Mount twice. Once for me and Bofus to share.
Once for Mantooth. Not sure whether Mutamba needs a horse or can ride one.
Lets go and get is some weapons.
We all get the horses running after where the wagon is heading.
Once we begin to catch up to Durgin, we will command him to stop. If he does not, then I will cast Web to stop him and the horses. Casting it so that he is barely caught in the back of the web and will have to push the horses through the entire 40' of web to continue down the road.

Mantooth Longbrow |

Mantooth mounts either the horse that Tirion has cast or he will remove Vartak from his hitch and pull himself onto his war horse and give chase with the group.
Once the party catches up to Durgin, Mantooth will do his best to convince him to stop.
"Durgin, pleases stop this wagon! You are going the wrong direction!"

Durgin Fortkeep |

""Durgin, pleases stop this wagon! You are going the wrong direction!"
"Where the hell do you think I'm going with it, to Brindol to sell them at market? I can't believe you heroes are still alive and kicking. I was sure the barghest was going to eat you for dinner? So what do you think you are doing out here anyway, B...b...b..b.Bofus, Tirion, and M..m...m..Mantooth?! Who is your little black friend? Is he your new slave? Either way, I'd say its time for you to return to B.B.B.Brindol and start hiding out behind the walls!"

Mantooth Longbrow |

Mantooth holds onto the reigns with his left hand as he straightens in his saddle to draw Magnimarana with his right hand. "Durgin, do not be a fool! We put down that wretched creature, and we will stop this carriage in its tracks if you do not do so under your own power. Please stop now!"
Diplomacy 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Mantooth looks to Tirion to drop the web, certain he will not be able to convince Durgin to stop with his words alone.

Durgin Fortkeep |

"Durgin? Oh yes the little stuttering hero of Drellin's Ferry. Well, he has stopped the wagon well and good hasn't he, especially since T...t...t.Tirion smothered it in a web! So are you going to use that blade of yours against the stuttering fool, M.M.M.Mantooth? Perhaps you might prefer trying one of these weapons! I think you will like the results!"
Durgin pulls out longsword of red steel and holds it up defensively.
"What do you say, paladin? Do you want to fight?"

Tirion Jörðhár |

Bofus and I would have shared a horse. Combined we only weigh about 80 pounds with gear. I will deduct 2 first level spells for the mounts.
I cast Web centered at H7 - DC17 Reflex or grappled, difficult terrain, if Durgin or an horse tries to move, they must make a DC17 reflex save or become grappled.

Well Oi'm not sure, Dwelgar. Remember it's not just tha hobgoblins, it's a whole lot o' diff'rent beasts. It could be magic, it could be evil, or it could be both. In tha end, it doesn't really matter, does it? They're comin' te destroy our home an' we've gotta stop 'em. But we could use that to our advantage. If we take out tha leaders or wotever's keepin' 'em all together, they might split up, an' we can hunt 'em down when they're all broken up. But firs' things firs': We've gotta get our troops te Brindol to aid in tha defense. Now Oi've sent a letter te tha elves in tha Westdeep, but it may take a while fer them te get here. We don't wanna have them get there before us an' kill all tha hobbies, do we!? M'lords, if ye can rally yer troops an' make fer Brindol, Elsir Vale will not forget it. Thordak says, looking around seriously as he stands up.
Now if ye haven't got any more questions, Oi should be makin' moiself about moi journey. Oh! he says, turning back and pulling some parchment from his pocket.
Here, Oi made some drawin's of a machine that might help against tha dragons an' bigger creatures. Oi haven't got tha time or tha resources te make one moiself, but if we've got extra hands...well, ye know. Basically a giant crossbow with wheels. Mind, tha spears it shoots'll have te be magical or blessed or somethin' te do anythin' against a dragon, but it may prove te be a big help.
May yer beards ne'er fall out M'lords! Thordak says, saluting before he leaves.

Mantooth Longbrow |

Mantooth slips off his horse, his sword still in hand, and moves towards Durgin. He leaves at most 10 feet between them or enough so that he is not in the web. Mantooth also casts Detect Evil on Durgin.
"Durgin - or whoever you are, I do not have an interest in fighting you now, and I have no desire to use one of those cursed swords. Please lay down your weapon or we will subdue you."

Durgin Fortkeep |

""Durgin - or whoever you are, I do not have an interest in fighting you now, and I have no desire to use one of those cursed swords. Please lay down your weapon or we will subdue you."
"Hehe! The Durgin you know is long gone now! Now you have to deal with me! Oh, and by the way, no! m..m..Mantooth, I am not going to lay down my weapon while you subdue me!"
I cast Web centered at H7 - DC17 Reflex or grappled, difficult terrain.
Reflex Saving Throw 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
With remarkable agility, Durgin dodges most of the web and remains untangled from the thick sticky mesh.
"Nice try, T.t.tirion! So you think you can stop me?! I would just like to see you try! I think its time for you to meet some of my friends."
Suddenly, arrows begin to fly as several bladebearers come rushing out of the woods.

ROUND 2
I look quickly around at the changing battle landscape.
We're divided, all fighting different battles . . . I can't take these archers down myself quickly enough to make a difference . . . I have to flank with SOMEone in order to do some damage . . .
I look at Mutamba, facing two guys on one side, and Mantooth facing three and getting surrounded--with the squishy Tirion behind.
OK, decision made!!
I drop my bow (free action) and quickly move to G19 while drawing rapier (move action) This will draw an AoO from bladebearer at E15.
Sorry Mutamba. I'm helping Mantooth, we'll take those guys down quick. Get out if you need to!!
Then I stab the dude at H19.
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16 <--plus an additional 4 if he fell from Tirion's spell OH FOR THE LOVE OF . . .
ROUND 3
Undeterred, I stay where I am and continue to stab H19.

Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (4, 6, 4) = 20
Haste Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (2, 3, 1) = 11
IF HE FALLS I'll 5' step to H18; otherwise stay put.
I almost forgot . . . if H19 had fallen, and tries to stand while I'm there . . .AoO!!
AoO: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (6, 1, 6) = 17

Tirion Jörðhár |

I am confused at what round we are in. My goal was to take down the ones flanking Mantooth so that he would get AoO when they stood up and also would not be flanked. If Bofus takes any of them out, then divert one or more of the missiles to Durgin and anyone next to Mutamba.
