Raging Rogue

Rules Questions

If you're a Barbarian/Rogue, is there any issue with sneak attacking while raging? The Rage line about requiring patience or concentration is a bit vague I think, or at least subjective. I'd assume the Tengu Swordmaster's Trance ability (described as an intense meditative trance) is impossible when raging, but was unsure about sneak attack.

No, its all good. Don't go looking for a reference saying that you can do it thought. Rage tells us everything that you cannot do, and none of them limit ability to make attacks.

Am I right in thinking you can't rage and enter the Swordmaster's Trance? Would there be any RAW for that, or is it a DM call, because the character I'm making is for Society play?

Grand Lodge

If it is not on the list on what one cannot do during rage, then you can do it.

GM call, for social play though, I believe there is a special message board space where you can ask such a thing.
My guess is you can sneak attack and rage, hell you can sneak attack with a two handed hammer, it's not all about stabbing the right spot with a dagger.

The problem is the clause "... or any ability tha requires patience or concentration". The Swordmaster Trance is explained as entering an intense meditative state. Now Concentration is a mechanic word, 'patience' is not to my knowledge. So I'm unsure how to judge that one.

I don't think either patience or concentration is used in a mechanic way, it is just plain english. As a GM I'd say you shouldn't combine the two, the fluff doesn't match.

Concentration is used to keep some spells active.

You can't rage and play Jenga.

You can rage and stab vital spots.

That's why the Urban Rager was made

I was actually planning on using the Urban Ranger, but while it lifts the skill use restriction, it doesn't seem to lift the patience/concentration restriction.

I'd call it a no. the Trance seems to be the antithetical to a raging style.

Rage and vital strike or deal other types of precision damage works both as RAW and RAI. Get angry and go for the eyes.

Now... technically could a barbarian delay or hold an action? Sounds like patience to me.
