last one for tonight. i am sure this has been answered a hundred times, but empower spell says that it multiplies all variable numeric effects (including bonuses to those dice) by 150%.

does this increase the number of dice, or the final result? for a 10th level fireball, does it make you roll 15d6, or do you roll 10 and multiply it by 150%?

and most importantly, how does this feat interact with intensify? if you are 15th level, and casting fireball... does intensify increase it to 15d6, and then you multiply it? or do you increase it by 5 more d6 because of empower and then intensify has no effect? thanks for the answers!

Because of other possible effects on the spell, it is usually handled by rolling the extra dice, not just multiplying. (E.G. Maximize, you get the base dice Maximised, but not the dice provided by Empowered)

IMO, you would Intensify the spell first, then Empower it based off the dice it does when Intensified.

Example:
12th level Wizard
Fire, Intensified, Empowered (6th level spell slot)
12d6 Intensified + 6d6 Empowered

Empower does NOT add extra dice. You actually multiply the sum by 1.5.

(10d6)x1.5.

The non-stacking part is a caveat of the maximize metmagic feat

An empowered, maximized spell gains the separate benefits of each feat: the maximum result plus half the normally rolled result.

Maximise and Empower are the only ones that work together like that.

If you Maximise, Intensify, and Empower a Fireball at CL 15 (15*6)+7.5d6. Or, as Ravingdork put it here, (15*6)+15d6/2.
