I'm just curious ... have you done anything with the Legend of the Five Rings? Your avatar name seems awfully familiar, and I thought I'd seen it somewhere. Maybe I'm tripping.
I like L5R for their storyline ... I found them through the old D&D 3rd Edition OA, which included the Rokugan setting, and went from there, to eventually end up playing the CCG, which is incorporated into the "official" storyline for the RPG. So it's (sort of) an organized play campaign.

There actually is an OP campaign for L5R: Heroes of Rokugan.

I never got into any organized play campaigns before this one. For the longest time I didn't have an interest in PFS either. Since my groups are pretty unstable at the moment, and the latest group was running it, I've decided to give it a try, at least until I have a stable group to run homebrew campaigns with.

TOZ, the nature of organized play's ability to survive group stability dynamics and to fit in well with an adult lifestyle (play four hours...go home...miss next week, no problem) is one of the major draws for me. Organized play for me is something to add to what else you play, but by itself it can be a somewhat tame diet in comparison to the depth of play that can be achieved in a well-run home campaign. Enjoy it for what it is.

I have been playing since about 1977, and tournament play (but not OP) in different games in about 1983. Off and On played tournaments and such for minatures (Battletech, Wh40K, Harpoon, microarmor) until I found Living Greyhawk. Up to then it was home gaming in D&D, Traveller, Morrow project and a load of others.
I played in LG from 2003, and ran a few events for the campaign in Florida. I also did Legends of the Shining Jewel OP, and some LFR OP. I tried to get Ashes of Athas OP started here, no avail.
I do a lot of convention organizing in Florida, and a few game days. I a improperly inverted in my game style than most organizers who do game days and the occasional convention.
My organized play experience started with Living City (back in the AD&D 2E days). The memories that stand out most from those days are my very first game at a convention in Orlando (MegaCon?) and a BI in Pittsburgh (3 Rivers). At the end of that first session, there was a cert for a +1 nongsword that would have been perfect for Devan, my newly minted paladin of Lathander. Unfortunately, I lost it in a die toss to a guy with a higher level bard who wanted it, not to use himself, but for trade bait. Bastard. I recall the BI being a lot of fun, even if I don't recall any specifics.
During those (g)olden days, I also remember dabbling in Living Jungle ad Living Verge.
I caught the debut of Living Greyhawk, but missed the rest of the campaign thanks to surgery residency (which was a lot like going to prison or basic training for five years).
In addition to PFS, I still play some LFR. I have played some Witch Hunter, CSE (the Living Arcanis successor campaign), and Shadowrun Missions.
Oh yeah, some friends and I tried Ashes of Athas. The four of us experienced five character deaths over three sessions. It sucked. I will never play it again.
