ok this will probably seem like a dumb question, but i cannot find improved invisibility anywhere. what is it? i own all the books, and have tried searching here and the srd, but to no luck, even though i am seeing it referenced alot lately.

People tend to reference it by the 3.5 name. In Pathfinder it's greater invisibility.

In 3.5, it's greater invisibility also. Spell Lists

Hmm...so am I thinking back to 3.0 then? I must be.

As for the ARG, I don't know what to say. I haven't picked it up yet so I haven't seen it. There's no improved invisibility in the game that I know of. I don't know how you could get a better invisible spell than the greater version, short of making it resistant to see invisible.

Hm... it's actually listed 2 times in the ARG....

p36: True Chameleon Mutagen: The saboteur’s chameleon
mutagen now acts as if he was under the effects of the
improved invisibility and spider climb spells, using his
alchemist level as the caster level, for the duration of the
mutagen. The saboteur must possess the grand chameleon
mutagen discovery to select this grand discovery.

p158: Wispy Form (Ex): At 10th level, the wind listener gains
the ability to become airy and translucent as a standard
action, gaining DR 10/magic and the effects of improved
invisibility for a number of rounds per day equal to his level.
These rounds need not be consecutive. Like the natural
invisibility universal monster ability (Bestiary 2 299),
this ability is not subject to invisibility purge. This ability
replaces the bonus feat gained at 10th level.

At least we're not the only ones still misplacing the term 'improved'. We know what they're referring to though.
