Family Man, Community Leader, Murderer

Advice

Grand Lodge

So, I am building up a Duergar Heratic Inquisitor of Cixyron, and I want to play him as a well to do, respected member of the dwarven community, a family man, and the go to guy for taking down troublesome members of society.
My questions are:
What is a fitting alignment?
What class abilities/skill should I be sure to focus on?
How do I fit this character into Golarion?
Are there any equipment that synergize well with the concept?
Are there any traits that fit to the concept?

That the gist of it?

In a sense, yes. Quite fitting.
I want this PC to genuinely like the other PCs, and be liked by the citizens of his homeland.
Also, be a horrible murderer, when convenient, or required.

Well, it sounds like NE or LE for alignment. You want social skills on this character, he's got convincing arguments and has little need for lies, since he will do horrible things to people that get in his way if they can't see things from his point of view (start with diplomacy, back it up with intimidate if it fails(optional), do horrible things to them if you must).

Stern Gaze helps you with Intimidate, so you can get a pretty nice bonus there. Are you sold on Heretic? Bluff seems a little out of place on such a character. Losing Monster Lore isn't a big deal though.

I thought there'd be a good feat for this as well, but I can't remember it.

Grand Lodge

The stealth abilities of Heretic play well into the low dex, but stealthy knife in the dark portion. Bluff help with the distraction/hide portion.

I'd probably say Lawful Evil, considering you're looking for someone who is a community leader.

I'd go with LE.

This made me think of Mr. Brooks.

Remember Lawful evil characters can be good friends and good neighbors, they can be the kind of people you can trust to act with honor and even justice is all situations. It's just if the honorable thing to do in a situation is kill your enemy, they are not going to have any compunction about doing so, and the pleading from the enemy will be met with a complete lack of empathy.

I'd actually say make him a dwarf instead of a duergar. My reason being, when the players finally find out about the truth and that he is a duergar, it'd feel less of a shock. People expect duergar to be evil. They are in many respects the drow of dwarves. But if he was just a crazy dwarf that's evil, I'd feel it would illicit a more shocked response from your players as it is something no one would ever see coming.

Grand Lodge

Well, that's part of the deal. Duergar is key. That is why bluff is important. Some members of community may know that he is a Duergar, but because of his status, and contributions to the community, they don't care.
He is a Duergar that likes Dwarves, at least those he calls friends.
When there are those that find out, and plan to out him, he silences them.

Any evil person can act like your good friend. Thing is, they are always furthering their own agenda first, and if it comes to time to dump you in it, you are in it up to your neck and they aren't visible for dust.

How do I fit this character into Golarion, as far a place to have this character be from, perhaps a community that accepts the occasional evil act, or is at least indifferent to things like slavery?

Are there any equipment, props if you will, that will play well with the concept?

What is a good inspiration for adventuring, that fits within the concept?

In a place the size of Golarion, a lot of places.

Most nations accept slavery in one form or another.
Most nations are also have large distances between settlements, so isolated places are plentiful.

That said, Cheliax (or any of its satalite nations) springs to mind as the most accepting of this level of mildly prevalent evil, and Katapesh is also very accepting of slavery.

Grand Lodge

Hmm, Katapesh sounds cool. A member of a trade family, involved in Pesh and Slave trade.

What real world country best resembles Katapesh?

Silver Crusade

The caliphate is the feeling I get from Katapesh.

I would say Persia, back in the Silk Road days where all commerce passed through the area.

Ustalav is also pretty okay with the "Do what you must to deal with your problems" mindset, routinely organizing witch-hunts and burning everything, plus the Duergar's somber skin colours fits in with the general theme of Ustalav, despite it being mostly populated by Varisians.
Irrisen, Nex and Geb are also good places for such a character to blend in, somewhat.

Grand Lodge

Ah, yes, Ustalav is certainly the fantasy Transylvania. I think the Persian feel will give me something new to work with.

I still need a reason for leaving the beloved community to adventure.
I am having a hard time coming up with that.

Any suggestions?
