Why is it now dead? The weapon is still the same weapon that they have the +1 trait bonus with, so it still applies.

Wow didn't realize they nerfed Heirloom weapon. Its worthless now.

you don't get the +1 trait bonus to attacks anymore.
Page 30—Replace the Heirloom Weapon entry
with the following text: “Heirloom Weapon: You
carry a non-masterwork simple or martial weapon
that has been passed down from generation to
generation in your family (pay the standard gp cost
for the weapon). When you select this trait, choose
one of the following benef its: proficiency with
that specific weapon, a +1 trait bonus on attacks
of opportunity with that specific weapon, or a +2
trait bonus on one kind of combat maneuver when
using that specific weapon.”

Yeah, the more i talk about it on here and read my comment, the more i realise how bad it really is. I keep making excuses because i want to play and this is the only local game i have been able to find. DMing is probably the way i should go, but i would like to find another game to join because the simple act of creating a character and their story is the funnest part of the game imho.
Well when all is said and done i appreciate you all listenning to me b$&%& and help me out. Thank you.
Good luck, Eternal1481. Glad you can recognize a bad situation for what it is.
Not from New England itself, but I've gathered from friends in the Boston and Providence areas that the gamer community's pretty healthy around there, so I'm sure you'll find a group that's fun to play with.

Where are they getting the +1 trait bonus to hit with their weapon?
Heirloom Weapon no longer includes a blanket +1 to hit trait bonus.
You can choose a +1 to hit with AoOs trait bonus, but that isn't going to help much with a firearm, since you don't get AoOs with it.
You can choose a +2 to a specific combat maneuver with that weapon, again something that won't play well with firearms.
Or you can choose proficiency with a specific single weapon. Not gonna help much with a Gunslinger who is already proficient with his firearm....
Heirloom Weapon is a worthless trait for a gunslinger using it for his firearm.

Your Dungeon Master obviously is trying to show up the rest of the party(as you hinted this is often the case). Its not even a matter of him having a high to hit, it is that the DM appears to want to bend the rules a bit to give him an edge over everyone else.
A DMPC is rarely a good thing for a party. I do recall having a Dungeon Master one time have a rather strong NPC in our party. He played the character well to make sure no one was replaced or outshined by him. It also helped Dungeon Master made him like a cohort for the whole party. This fighter has his own personality and goal, but you could always convince him to do a more specific task (with a relatively easy diplomacy check, or no check if the argument was sound). The main reason we even had this DMPC was because we had lost a couple of people over the course of the campaign and needed to fill our fourth slot.
The best tip I can give for avoiding a serious problem from a DMPC is make sure that the Dungeon Master does not become attached to their NPC in the party. As the attachment grows you will start seeing the Dungeon Master bend rules just to make sure their character survives those tough encounters.

Well i had a talk with him and he has killed off the DMPC. he will still have one to assist with plot progression and because we have an irregular who will assume control when he's around. This new char is not combat oriented and the only skills/spells it will have are buffs/party assist so he cant take center stage. well see how this works out.

Black_Lantern |

Black Lantern, just replace human w/ goblin, "barbarian" with "urban barbarian" (can rage for +4 dex), enlarge person w/ reduce person, and bull's strength with cat's grace. And heirloom weapon w/ MW weapon....heirloom weapon was nerfed into the ground, doesn't really do anything now.
Alch 2, Barb 1 Goblin
Dex 22
Potion of Cat's Grace (Accelerated Drinker) 26
Reduce Person 28
Mutagen 32
Rage 36
Weapon Focus
Masterwork gunTo hit:
2 (BAB)
13 (Dex)
2 (size)
1 (MW)
1 (Weapon Focus)Total: +19
And yes, that is ridiculously optimized and reliant on consumable items and a 15 min. adventuring day. And the damage is crap.
I like my build better.
