Fire Resistance stacking

Rules Questions

If a sorcerer with the infernal influence trait which grants fire resistance 1 selects the infernal bloodline and advances to level 3. The sorcerer then gains fire resistance 5. Would he now have fire resistance 6? I know that other forms of energy resistance do not stack but does that include traits too?

Unless it specifically says it stacks, it does not stack.

Neither the trait nor the blood line says it stacks, and neither one says it improves any existing fire resistance, so they don't stack. You would have fire resistance 5 in this case.

yup Jeraa's right, just like with DR, you take the highest one.

Thanks to both of you. I thought that was the answer but I just wanted to be sure.

I know this question is a year old, but I also was wondering something similar. If I am playing the 3rd Party class Pyromancer, which grants FR 5, and my race is Ifrit, which grants the same bonus, does that mean I have FR 5 or 10? I thought 10, which at level 1 is a rather high resistance, but after reading this, it seems like I might have FR 5.

Thanks!

You would have fire resistance 5, unless the pyromancer class specifically says that it improves or stacks with existing fire resistance. If it just grants fire resistance 5, then it won't stack.
