There was talk some time ago of implementing this, as many of us PbP GM's like to use the short description to quote a character for example, or set up various links to useful resources or character sheets, etc.
Pretty please? 250 characters is not particularly accommodating and the short description box has the potential to be really useful :).

Not sure if it helps your use case, but I have an extension/script that provides a character information pop-up window for PbP games.
It requires Firefox or Chrome. If you're using Firefox, you also need the Greasemonkey Add-On for Firefox.
Install the paizo_pbp_stats_v1.user.js extension/script by clicking the link here.
After that, you can see how it works on this PbP game:
Eberron The Days Of Futures Past Siberys Group .. mouse over the picture of my character Elvombor Isebring and you should see the pop-up window (with information) instantly appear.
The information appearing in the pop-up comes from the profile text of Elvombor Isebring. Way down at the bottom, you'll see:
{popup}hp 19 | Temp 0 | NL 0 | Total hp 19
AC 13 | touch 13 | flat-footed 10 | CMD 14
Fort +1 | Ref +3 | Will +3 (+2 racial bonus vs enchantments)
Immunities magical sleep{/popup}
Everything between the {popup} and {/popup} curly tags is what gets displayed in the window.
Again, not sure if it helps your use case or not. Just thought I'd mention it in case it was useful.

Looks like I'm not the only one with this on their mind lately. Here's the original thread if needed:

The change doesn't seem to have taken-
In this campaign, for example, i'm attempting to create a series of useful links for my players (frequently used maps for example), separated by the | character. Only a very small amount of the space available is used before it cuts off anything beyond a certain amount of characters and deletes it. Each time I have saved the example above, the third URL should read "the Desolation", not just The.
Edit: In other words, the change doesn't seem to have taken.
