The way magic works in my world.

Homebrew and House Rules

I m looking for thoughts and ideas to help me refine this into a good method. This is what i have so far. Pls tell me what u think and ways to better it.

There are those in every race that upon birth have been giving the what i call demigod gene or mark. These creations go on to become sorcerers or alchmist while those merely blessed become those whom become above average versions of that race ( the adventurers of the world) . This makes sorcerers high up. Wizards are normal and thus use the blood of those with the mark or gene to write there spells while alchmist have the mark and use their own blood to create their source.

Trying to get if right but thats the underlaying of what i m working on.

Sounds plausible and interesting enough. You may want consider social standing as part of this as well, like in Dragonlance wizards are very rare and secretive, they don't let just anyone in and they're usually quite powerful. The same could apply to sorcerers, but it could be more like an order of near divine or special individuals who are placed high in society, immune to certain laws, ect.

I could see in the history a great war due to there being just so many of these people with a special gene raising up building great cities that soon become ruins. I m kinda working out wizards. Since they need the blood of those with the gene or mark so to speak how would this shape if fewer people in future or present were around that had the demi god mark.

It depends a great deal on how the wizards obtain the blood component they need. Do they hunt sorcerers in secret and murder them for their blood? Do they work out a deal with them, exchanging blood for other aid or services? How many wizards are there compared to sorcerers, and if there are more how desperately do they seek the source of their magic?

In general I would say that the wizards would either hunt down the last few with the mark in an attempt to capture them and use them for their own purposes, or failing that they would have been nearly crushed by previous groups with the mark and more power so that wizards are now very rare and must strike from the shadows with what little magic they can gather and horde.

Ok i can see that it first starts off as a hunt being wizards vs sorc. But giving that wiz need sorc blood eventually there will be a union and the sorc and wiz will have to work togather. Mine u its a loose alliance there will be renegade wizard out there killing mark ones. I really see sorc ending up being the dominate ones perceding over the others. What are your takes

More on topic at hand.

So as I see it there are your basic gods and then there are the Demigods that break down beliefs into alignments. Well the classes all have a favor god. The Demigods, that each fit to one of the main, come down and either breed with mortal, Bless, or alter a newborn of whichever race it feels like at that time. This would be what spawns why adventurers are more fit than say your average person. Since those demigods are tied to main gods the mortal leans more to that field of expertise as they grow up. Divine is more of a blessing from their class god. Sorcerers have it flowing through there blood and magic is natural to them. Wizards well they are basically mortals whom found out about the mark ones (Direct offspring of the demigods that have it flowing in their blood. Not the divine ones cause its more of a blessing.) Still debating on having those that are blessed or just everyone that is a adventurer has it in their blood. I found that perhaps wizards learn through Alchemist of the Mark Ones blood properties. Alchemist figure out they are themselves Mark Ones and they use their own blood in making potions and their spells to give it magical properties. Wizards have to have this blood in writing their spell books cause its the blood that enables them to cast. They became protective of their main spell book as they need it to cast the spells. If that is too dependent then they use the blood much like mana and need to replenish it.

Please give me your thoughts and ideas.

Sounds good. Did you plan on changing mechanics in any way, or just the fluff? Like, will Sorcerers be much stronger?

No change to Mechanics.. I just see them being better than wizards in this society given they work magic naturally.
