What kind of awards would you give the player characters for winning a mass combat? I'm referring to army vs army battles. I'm working on adding alot more mass combat starting in adventure 2, but I think I need to supplement the pc's with some BP so it doesn't dramatically stunt their kingdom's growth.
So what kind of rewards for winning, especialy BP wise.
Another possibility might be units, or even whole armies switching sides.
Depending on how the players kingdom is governed, and the armies run, it may make more tactical sense for an opposing unit, company, or army to switch sides and be absorbed into the standing army. Whereas there is an upkeep cost, it is a group of soldiers that take 0 time to train/build.
In the game I'm running, I'm building the backstory of famine and war in Brevoy happening at the same time as the player's kingdom getts founded and begins to grow. Depending on how they run it, they might get mercenary companies up to whole battalions swiching sides for food and a land of prosperity.
Other options may be that the general/leiutennats are kitted out with some fancy magic items, or perhaps a treasure map to a forgotten cache?
If they capture the leader of the enemy army alive, they may be able to get a ransom for the prisoner. This depends who the enemy is, of course; I don't imagine Hargulka paying a ransom for the return of one of his henchtrolls.
