Cheating causing problems

Advice

I have a player that I suspect is cheating. He plays through video feed on the laptop, so his rolling is basically through the honor system. I have talked to him about it before but he insists that he is not cheating. He basically never rolls less than a 15 on a d20 and never rolls less than 1 point away from max damage.

Worst part is, it is starting to effect the other players and the game itself. They are getting more and more irritated, they are feeling they are being overshadowed, and I think they are starting to cheat now because of it. The game is supposed to be fun.

We are all good friends, so kicking players is out of the question, but I feel this issue is starting to grow out of control. Any advice is welcomed.

Thankyou.

Good friends don't cheat at board games.

Anyways discuss it with him. If you feel he is still cheating you need him to either play IRL (I assume he is across the country or something) or roll his dice yourself.

Just ask that everyone to use old fashioned dice at your table. In fact, ask everyone to use old fashioned character sheets. The fillable ones that many use on their laptops are printable. Say you want more focus on the game, less distraction.

You could require them to show you the roll over video feed. I'm just trying to work out the logistics of how to make that work with different cameras. Mirrors maybe? Could be tricky.

The simpler (but not so fun) option is to do all of the rolling yourself. This way everything is fair and unbiased, but then nobody else gets to have fun with polyhedrons. =(

There are online rolling systems where someone can roll and then everyone can see the result. They're even built into many chat programs. Something like http://dicelog.com/dice works as well. That seems like a simple, fast no-nonsense solution.

Give him a last warning and do it where everyone (the other players included) can hear it. State that if you are not convinced that roll cheating isn't happening then you will move to a system that lets you check everyone's rolls. Or barring that you will roll for them in the open. Explain that you do not want to do this but if it is the only way to preserve the balance and fun of the game then you will.

Isn't there a time/style, of DMing ,where the DM does all the rolling?

That, or just get him to roll on camera.
Joyd's suggestion is a good ideal. If all the dice rolling is done by the com, its hard for him to cheat.

Someone may have suggested it, but there are way to roll dice online.

Once is invisiblecastle.com. All he would have to do is copy and past the result to you. You can also verify his post by visiting the site.
