Gaining Slow Experince and Leveling Confusion

There is a PC that has 32.5 xp and is on slow advancement for level 11. This character then plays a module that yields the max of 1.5xp. This bumps the PC to 34xp (level 12.1). Does this mean that the PC has to play slow for the rest of level 12 as well or can the PC elect to switch to fast after gaining the level, but stay at 12.1 for Eyes of the Ten?

In guide 4.3 it states, "At character creation and each time your character gains a level, you decide if you would like your character to be on the standard or slow advancement track for the entirety of that level."

It doesn't say anything about extraneous experience gained above a level other than, "entirety of level." does this mean you can lose the extra experience to stay at 12.0, or does normal advancement start at 12.1.

What is the CORRECT way to handle this situation?

The answer is yes, you take all the experience and stay on slow track. You are only allowed to switch to or from slow track at exactly enough xp to level. If you go past a level due to a module, you have to stay slow for the second level as well.

As a note, as per the new guide you can ONLY start Eyes of the Ten if you have exactly 33xp. So if you are past that and at 34xp, that character would be ineligible for Eyes of the Ten, although he can play in any 12+ modules. The "rollback" rule is no longer legal.

Plan accordingly.

Great! Can you please reference where that is stated, specifically?

Seekers (previously known as retired characters) are offered the opportunity to accomplish one last major mission for the Pathfinder Society: participating in a Seeker story arc (previously known as a retirement arc). To play a Seeker (Tier 12) story arc, the character must start it with exactly 33 XP. If a character is used to play an 11th-level module starting at 31 or 32 XP or a Tier 12+ special scenario at 12th level, thus ending the module or special scenario with more than 33 XP, the character receives full credit for the module or special scenario, but may not play any part of a Seeker story arc (except for a few grandfathered exceptions—see the Pathfinder Society FAQ).

So, if this PC plays a module and earns more than 33 XP, he is NOT eligible for Eyes of the Ten!

Edit: I hadn't previously noticed the removal of the rollback rule (reducing the module's reward by ~1/3 gold and 1/3 PP for each XP beyond 33 that you couldn't take).

Also of note, I could not find the grandfathered exceptions in the PFS FAQ that are mentioned here.

Great! Thanks for the info... My search-fu just wasn't working today.
