does 5 foot step work different for large and larger than large creatures?
I mean... a 5 foot step for a medium creature. they take up 5 feet of space and a 5 foot step represents a quick step or two in a direction as they do something.
but what if the creature is a really big monster taking up a 15ft by 15ft space. is their equivalent of a 5 foot step a 15 foot step?

nope. makes no sense... a 5 foot step represents a movement as you take an action... like a boxer stepping forward as he throws a flurry of blows at his opponent or a wolf lunging forward to bite at something close.
why would a 60 foot tall titan be limited to the same tactical movement limitation as a 6 foot tall human?
I mean... i understand its a game and certain things are just done to simplify the rules... but its just counter intuitive.

In addition to simplification, it also provides much needed balance.
If you let a large creature take a 10' step, it can full attack each round and force a smaller foe to use a move action to approach, forcing it to provoke an AoO and limiting it to a single attack each round it wants to fight.

... sounds dumb.
guess there is a lot of dumb rules like that though.
No, what would be dumb is basing "more than 5 ft" steps on size. If you're 50 ft tall but cover the same distance in a round as a human, you're clearly not very swift or agile on your feet.
If anything, it should be based on speed. But then spellcasters would just use buff spells and get the most benefit out of it.
So...I'm fine with the rule as it is.
