I'll admit to having 'fallen out of' BBC Being human, but I think the American version is completely 'off the rails' plotwise, compared to the BBC version.
It does look like we have more of an Underworld (and V:tM) vibe going with the vampires.
Sign me up for season 2 :-)

I have to admit that losing Aiden Turner (John Mitchell) took the wind out of the sails of the UK version for me. I think he was central in the success of the the show. I knew he was leaving to do The Hobbit but it still wasn't any fun.
As for the US version, the story has gotten much more interesting than the first season. That's what keeps me watching. However, I still have issues with the three main characters. They still seem like cardboard character to me. The ghost girl in the US just comes off way too whinny to me and does not have the vibrant spark that Lenora Crichlow has. The US vampire is lacking the easy personality of Turner's Mitchell and the US werewolf is missing Tovey's geeky, twitchy humor.

I very much enjoy the UK version and at first watch found the US version a week rip-off. Despite that opinion I have begun re-watching the US version and on the second viewing I am seeing a rough jewel beneath the surface. I'm beginning to like the US version as it is slowly differencing itself from the UK version. Each week the story line goes just a little more off center from the UK version and soon it will inhabit a similar but completely different mythos, kind of like the differences between UK and USA cultures. If the second US season can start bringing in it’s own storylines I will continue to watch.

@Keltic,
I have to disagree. There seems to be a theme of addiction running through this season, based on the trailers. 'Our' Sally is going to be interacting more (Which Wardrobe has to love) with mortals and consequences. while Aidan is a gateway to a bigger vampire structure, dealing with the temptation of eating the living. (as a long time player of Vampire, I could almost feel the humanity loss as the new vamp 'got better'. I'm also hoping he kills the new doctor) Josh I'm not sure on. I think he's going to be the stable one, or he's going to learn to have more control over the wolf.
Sally's story seems to be about 'maturing' as a ghost. The kid she's working with (who I'm enjoying the 'old soul' ability of the actor) seems to be a lot stronger and more experienced than he lets on. I'm hoping he's honestly trying to be a guide, and not going to eat her or something.

Myself, I'm watching it mostly for the Werewolf plot.
To me: the ghost is very very whiny. If I were the other two, I'd have Exorcised her just to get some peace and quiet. Or moved. or both- just to save someone else the pain.
Aiden is very much the kind of vampire I hate. Not his personality but the whole "put on sunglasses and parade out in the sun". Seems staking them or locking them in a room and revoking access to the house is the only way to kill them. All he needs is a nice sparkle to his skin in the daylight to fit right in with the new crap going on.
The Werewolf is, to me, the only slightly decent guy. Not only is he actually a freaking WEREWOLF. (not some dude who hulks out with hair to go bash heads in) but he hates and despises it and actively tries to prevent it from doing any harm while having no control over it. And best of all- his one indiscretion totally turns around and bites him on the rear. (so to speak). He's guilty as heck for doing that to her but also feels completely responsible for her now that its happened.
he, to me, is the only one that's real or interesting.
That, of course, is just my opinion on it :) but it keeps me a fan of the show nevertheless.
Its one of the 3 that I make sure to watch every week. (along with Walking Dead and Lost Girl. and slowly adding Person of Interest and sometimes Unforgettable to that list as well lol))

Disclaimer: I don't know how much slack I'm giving Sally because I find Megan Rath attractive (I'm a Hermit, not a Saint)
I enjoy the conflict with all three. I've not watched last nights yet. Josh is the moral compass, and even then he screws things up for all the right reasons. Sally, I think Sally's trying to find her place in the (next) world. In some ways, she could become a 'guide' to the ghost world, helping people find their door, but at the same time, she wants/needs resolution. I've noticed 'our' Sally isn't mastering Manifesting as fast as 'their' Sally seemed to.
Aidan's going to get someone (he cares about) killed.
As to last week.

Well with the complete scrapping of BBC's Being Human I'm giving the american version a closer look and come to the same conclusion as the british version.
Ghost = whiny, annoying and totally useless. LEARN TO SPEAK when something important happens. Gawd half the problems she has is because she never tells anyone any details about the problem.
Vampire = Just stake it already. The whole I'm too cool for you and irrational acts he does to cover up his addiction. Be a functional addict, thousands of people do it every day, get your routines and supply lines setup and then go do your job.
Werewolf = Only interesting character in the whole show. Knows he's a monster and hates it while trying to do something about it. He makes mistakes, owns up to them and tries to fix it.
He's human and the only one who actually GETS what it means to be a monster. (stay out of the limelight, try to protect others from YOU and handle yourself with some discretion and common sense)
The plots for the British version where better and made more sense but the american is a bit more exciting.
It get's a C+ from me so far.

Ok now that I'm finally caught up...
Sally: Killed every spirit close to her, completely out of her mind, but not realizing it. Not sure if she's crossed the Moral Event Horizon or not.
Josh: Trying to hold on to his humanity has cost him so much. He's kind of the opposite of Aidan, in that in trying to be human, he's driven people away. The lastest bit with the ghost (gods that actor still annoys me) just complicates things.
Aidan: Um, yeah. He's pretty low on the humanity scale. He still protects 'his own' but if you're not part of his group, you're screwed. And look what he's gotten for embracing his monster. Food, power, hot girl... This won't bite him in the aft, no...

Was it just me or did Aiden start tonight's episode by hovering over the Ghost with a stake in his hand?
(and double curses on him for going out in the day with just sun glasses.. why couldn't have the wolf gone out? Its -day time-. geez.)
-S
I officially dub this show Being Wolf.. cuz the other two characters are crap.

Lolz, that's pretty much the truth. The only character in the show anyone is capable of empathizing with is the Werewolf and that's because he's the only human in the bunch.
The viewers of the british version are all saying the same thing.
Now if you had seen the original ghost from the Pilot now that was a character I'd like to have seen more of. Massively more entertaining character and the mythos there was much darker and more compelling.
