My games of 2011 - Thank you to all my GMs

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I think we too seldom thank our GMs. With another year nearly gone I had a look back at my games in 2011. Putting them all together in a list was great for me and gave me back fond memories. But also some bits I had forgotten.

I also felt I should say a Thank-you to them all. So here they are:

The year did start early with Cathlessra. The first game was a great start - which saw Szran for the very first time - my Barbarian. His 1:1 Duell in the bar with the Eidolon was epic and only his ferocity and some cheating (well timed healing) ensured he was the winner at the end.
But this is about the GMs. This was the very first game as PFS GM for Cathlessra. Starting at 'my' Lodge he soon formed his own and also GMed at two conventions - PaizoCon UK and Dragonmeet.
I expect him to get his second star this year.

Cathlessra games - 11:

Jan 2, 2011 UK Sunrise Lodge - Deal Cathlessra #2-01: Before the Dawn—Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise (PFRPG) Szran
Jan 24, 2011 UK Sunrise Lodge - Deal Cathlessra #48: The Devil We Know—Part IV: Rules of the Swift (PFRPG) Yandu
Mar 2, 2011 UK Sunrise Lodge - Deal Cathlessra #1: Silent Tide (OGL) Szran
Apr 14, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra #17: Perils of the Pirate Pact (OGL) Szran
May 28, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra #2-15: Shades of Ice—Part I: Written in Blood (PFRPG) Kai
Jun 30, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra #2-17: Shades of Ice—Part II: Exiles of Winter (PFRPG) Szran
Jul 10, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra #2-24: Shadow's Last Stand—Part II: Web of Corruption (PFRPG) Ilandros Sweetsong
Jul 27, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra Pathfinder Module: We Be Goblins! (PFRPG) Ilandros Sweetsong
Sep 15, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra #3-01: The Frostfur Captives (PFRPG) Hyjg Drohg
Oct 26, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra Pathfinder Module: The Godsmouth Heresy (PFRPG) Yandu
Nov 10, 2011 Hunters Lodge UK Cathlessra #6: Black Waters (OGL) Szran

Crispy was my second GM of the year. Thanks for your hospitality. CrispyCon was a great experience and I loved to play my first module - The Godsmouth Heresy.
And thanks for offering me the 7th seat at Conception for Rescue at Azlant Ridge.

Games Crispy 1 module 1 scenario:

Jan 8, 2011 CrispyCon Crispy3ed Pathfinder Module: The Godsmouth Heresy (PFRPG) Szran
Jan 28, 2011 Conception 2011 Crispy3ed #2-02: Before the Dawn—Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge (PFRPG) Szran

A special Thank-You for Deathboy. Fantastic to hear you are now a Venture Leutnant - well earned. Deathbow went out of his way to organize a game specially for me while visiting Groton, CT. This was the second time he was doing this for me. A shame it is unlikely I will be back to Groton in the future as this was my last business trip there as they closed down our side.

Game Deathboy:

Feb 5, 2011 Citadel Game Celler deathboy #2-06: The Heresy of Man—Part I: The First Heresy (PFRPG) Theodum

The next thanks go to PhantasyPhil. Thanks for coming down to my Birthday Con - and to volunteer to run a great Murder Mistery for us

Game Fantasy Phil:

Feb 18, 2011 JensCon Zero fantasyphil #2-13: Murder on the Throaty Mermaid (PFRPG) Szran

Moon Madness did GM one of only three scenarios I did with Theodum - my very first character. I had a lot of fun to use my Staff of Fire for the very first time - and thank you for not sending us into oblivion when I tried to burn with a wall of fire what shouldn't have been burned.

Game Moon Madness:

Jul 9, 2011 PaizoCon UK 2011 slot 0 part 2 moon madness #20: King Xeros of Old Azlant (OGL) Theodum

Mythrasus had the honor to GM the most useless troop ever to set foot into the Fallen Fortress. We nearly got defeated after the first two encounters due to lack of basic equipment - like a rope.
Thanks for keeping up with us. It was great to have the opportunity at Games Expo to GM with my daughter.

Game Mythrasus:

Jun 3, 2011 UK Games Expo 2011 mythrasus Pathfinder Module: Master of the Fallen Fortress (PFRPG) Ilandros Sweetsong

And of course - I can't miss out Wintergreen - our VC in this list. He came over to my Birthday weekend of gaming to allow me and my guests to be one of the first to play The Midnight Mauler. It was an epic game - I've never seen a single scenario that took that long - and everyone enjoyed every single minute.
I also had the very special honor to play at Dave's Four Star game at OddCon and to share that honor with my son and my daughter.

Games Wintergreen 3:

Feb 20, 2011 JensCon Zero Wintergreen #2-EX: The Midnight Mauler (PFRPG) Theodum
Jun 4, 2011 UK Games Expo 2011 Wintergreen #2-21: The Dalsine Affair (PFRPG) Hyjg Drohg
Oct 14, 2011 Oddcon 2011 Wintergreen #2-19: Shades of Ice—Part III: Keep of the Huscarl King (PFRPG) Ilandros Sweetsong

Someone who still might make it on my list this year is Nostrus - who currently GMs for the Nevis Lodge and First Steps Part 1 online here. Thanks for bringing the group together.

Special mentioning:
GM Wellard - he is my online Serpent Skull GM. Thanks for keeping the game running !! Amisis enjoys it a lot.

Stephen White - VC Australia. I really appreciated the time you took earlier this year giving me advice. You know what I'm talking about.

Painlord - thanks for the badge (yes - I can be bribed as GM). I hope one day we sit at the same table. I hope if the business goes well that I'm back to GenCon next year and this time I should be able to tell more than a week in advance that I'm coming.

Mike Brock - I sometimes feel sorry for Mike as posters like me sometimes cause grief to him. Thanks for the time you spend replying to my e-mail. It is very much appreciated that you took that time out of a busy schedule while discussions here on the boards were raging.

And off course - a Thank You also to all my players. But you are too numerous to mention - and this thread was meant to thank my GMs.

If you had good experience with GMs this year - feel free to share. I think we can't say Thank-You often enough to them.

The Exchange 3/5

Wow, Thod.

Great post. You rock.

I, of course, am honored to have you GM me in our PbP, which I enjoy immensely. I should be thanking you more often for that.

Thanks for the reminder to thank our judges...too often we don't say it enough.

Great Post! Thanks you Thod. You've done a great job of playing, running, organising and supporting Pathfinder games. Makes my job so much easier!
Looking forward to more games at your place!

Sczarni 4/5

Thod: sorry to hear that you won't be headed back to CT anytime soon. I had fun playing with you on your first trip over here

Painlord, Dave, Cpt Kirstov

Thanks for your replies. It always feels good to see nice replies about myself here. But it wasn't about me. The intend was to make a start for others to share their good experience over the last year with GMs and organizers as well.

There must be hundreds more GMs out there who deserve a thank-you as well.

Grand Lodge

Great Post. Thank you for all you bring to the Society!

I agree, and I'm bumping this thread because today, March 4th, is GM's Day.

PFS didn't get started locally until this past December. So far I've played with three GMs:
Dinketry
StrangePackage
StumbleDuck

Thanks guys for running some great games. Also thanks to the other local PFS GMs whose tables I haven't yet had a chance to sit at:
Zylphryx
Luthril
Stupottery
Thorynn

Dinketry and Zylphryx have done the lion's share of GMing and deserve extra thanks.

I think Venture Officers are even more under-thanked than GMs are. Since VOs are in a sense "super GMs", I'm gonna bundle my thanking into GM's Day.

Our local Venture Captain, Del Collins, deserves thanks for the support he's provided. He GMed a table at our second session, and has been quick to jump into our very active Lodge thread when we needed some help and guidance.

Silver Crusade 3/5

I'd like to send a special thank you to Eric Brittain and his team of GM's (George Smith, Nutation and spacemage9508) for being so accommodating to myself and my wife on our honeymoon last year in San Diego. You guys rock :).

Thanks to Wintergreen, Thod, Crispy, Novalord, Sad, Pete Pollard, Sune_Sunflower and of course Angel_Gabriel for your fantastic games throughout the year. Special mention must be made for Sune_Sunflower's amazing peanut butter fudge!

Finally thanks to all my GM's last year at GenCon: Mike Alchus, Thamius, Andrew Christian, Justin Sipla, thelich, szarkel and Lora Massey. Particular thanks must go to Lora Massey who GM'ed for us on the last 8am session on the Sunday having run every session at the con. The poor girl looked dead on her feet but she bravely soldiered on and ran a great game. Also I must apologise to thelich for my halfling's foul mouthed rant in the direction of the head of the Quadiran faction. In my defence the scumbag deserved it...

Thanks to all my GM's and here's to many more great games this year.

Awesome post, Thod.

Of course, I'm a PFS slut, and have played under way too many GMs to thank by name, but I hope you all know who you are.

Moreover, as a coordinator, I want to make it clear that I can't do what I do without everyone who GMs in my store. You certainly all know who you are. You're all awesome. Thank you for everything you do.
