Can you have both? Is there any point to having both?
Do you mean Arcane Bond (Sp): bonded object?
Then, if you have something saying you get both, and nothing saying you can't have both, then you can have both. They do fairly different things.
For instance, a Sorcerer(3) with Serpentine bloodline gains a Viper familiar. If he then takes a level of Wizard, he could choose either a bonded object, or to add his wizard level to advancement of his familiar.

I was curious if there would be any advantage to it or if you would simply cause a systemic paradox and disappear in a blinding flash of light and thunder . . . .
Have you looked at what they do?
The bonded object is a free masterwork item that lets you cast a spell once per day, and you can add magic abilities to it without the feat. The downside is you must use the object while casting, or have a concentration check vs failure.
The familiar is a magical beast that grants you a few minor benefits, the alertness feat, and most importantly, another set of actions.
The only thing they really have in common is that they are both options for the Arcane Bond class feature.
