Thanks for the fantastic run! I really enjoyed getting back in the saddle and seeing everyone. As usual, you did an awesome GM'ing job. And also thanks to my fellow players for a great job in dealing with that annoyingly difficult module. Maybe it wouldn't have been guite so difficult if we'd had a trapper, but some serious creativity and stick-to-it-iveness won the day :) Great job and I look forward to doing it again with ya'll.

Thanks. :) It did run longer than I anticipated, but the split group slowed things a bit. All in all though, I think it went pretty well (sorry about the late end time though).

I have to say the end game was well played (though a PC with higher Perception would have made that search quicker;) ). I really didn't see the split party (part 2) coming, but it worked ... and way to go nerfing the BBEG. ;)

And as to the option I kept hinting at during the break ...

Spoiler:
the ranger could have taken out the "priest" who was watching over y'all and could have given you a person on the 'inside', so to speak.

Silver Crusade 1/5

I have this Saturday off from work, so will run a 12:30 and a 6:00 game. haven't decided which ones yet, I do have intros 1 and 2, rise of the goblin's guild, and shades of Ice 3 all ready to run, I have in Shadow's Wrath I can prep or could possibly pick up another scenario if anyone tells me what they would like in the next couple days for this weekend.

I think some of our problem was in the assumption that there were a LOT of enemies there, so if our cover was blown, we were as good as dead. That seems not to have been the case, given the size of the encounters at the end. It certainly would have been a lot worse if we'd had to deal with the white, grey, and black robes all at once, but I was thinking there were at least twice as many of them there, and if we caused enough trouble, town guards would have been called in as well.

As to your spoiler, I have no idea what hints you're talking about. Maybe you talked about that with others during the break and it never got passed on? I'm also not sure how I would have single-handedly taken out one of the leaders. The only reason I survived the black robes was because I grabbed the mcguffins and jumped out of the window.

I can't do:

The Infernal Vault
City of Strangers 2
Citadel of Flame
Crypt of the Everflame (module)
The Frostfur Captives
Shades of Ice 1, 2, or 3
Silent Tide
The Icebound Outpost
Rise of the Goblin Guild
Masks of the Living God (module)
Voice in the Void

Thirteen, my gunslinger, could use Intro 3.

Ívarr, my ranger is 5th, Keovar, my wizard, is 2nd, and of course, I could make another character for intros other than 3.

If people know of scenarios in which you can capture an enemy spellbook or some arcane scrolls, that would be helpful to know. Keovar would also like to group with another wizard or magus with whom he can trade spell-scribing access. I'd like to make a virtual library that I could share with the other spellbook-users of our local lodge when I group with them.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

I'm running a test this weekend and have two people signed up and possibly another and need two or three more! starting at 2?

The jammed door helped us there, we proboly would have had to deal with many more if not for our Gunslinger. And if you'll remember we ran after we got the goods, granted my eidolon and I where almost full health and had lots of fight left but I think it went verry well.

There were additional people, which y'all managed to get stuck behind a jammed door (thanks to the gunslinger), and the time y'all made your move was a slower time inside so fewer active folks, hence the delay in arrival.

The one watching y'all was a grey robe, not black. so between you, your wolf and the bard, after the higher ups left, could have taken him out pretty handily I think (y'all did take out two upstairs in a couple rounds after all).

Be sure to spoiler your text when talking about particulars. ;)

Well yes, we all survived and completed it, so it went well enough... but my point was that earlier on, it seemed like there were many dozens in the place with a quick reinforcement of city guards if we caused enough trouble.

I didn't have my wolf with me once I got back with the group. I couldn't very well abandon him on the street, so I took him back to the Forest's Bounty. I'm not sure when the higher ups left, either.

I was just trying to make things vague so spoilering wouldn't be necessary. It'd be nice if they'd add buttons to drop the tags around a highlighted line, like most messageboards from the current century.

Spoiler:

right, I'm talking about when you first got into the jail area. The higher ups had left prior to the kid "breaking out" of the cell. during that window a swap would have worked. But it is neither here nor there as y'all completed it well enough. And yes, had the door not gotten jammed, you would have had about a dozen of so white robes and several grey robes to contend with.

I guess many of the more frequent/available players have already done Goblin Guild. If there's no one at that game, would the evening one get cancelled too?

Silver Crusade 1/5

there is only one signed up for it, If there isn't interest shown in it it will be.

Hey you rowdy kobolds, Happy Monday!

This Saturday is another awesome Asheville Pathfinder Lodge (APL) Saturday! We have 4 games set up for now, but more a-waiting in the wings if the demand should rise. Take a gander....HERE!!!

Tomorrow (that's right, Tuesday) we will be holding our second PFS event at the Deck Box in Fletcher. The last event (3 weeks ago) saw 4-5 new Society players try their luck at Intro Steps events. This week: we unleash the Kraken! No, not really, but we will be running Rise of the Goblin Guild (and more if needed)! Come on out at 6PM to Smiley's Flea Market (in which lies the Deck Box) for Tuesday Night TableTop Action! And you can always sign up on the WARHORN SITE (just in case you missed it the first time).

October 13th will be an odd APL day. It falls on Asheville Comic Expo (ACE), which means that the APL will be going for a field trip! Come on out to the Civic Center in Asheville for PFS play during the day, and then come on back to the WT for more PFS goodness in the evening. You could also stay and listen to the cool bands at ACE; we won't slight you for wanting to hear that nifty band that plays punk covers of Nintendo theme songs....

GameMaster 101 course is coming soon to the Wyvern's Tale! Some of your favorite APL GMs will be running this course designed to allow all of us to hone our GM skills in the most fun way possible. Written by the awesome crew at the Atlanta PFS Lodge, it will blow the doors off of any other educational seminar you've ever attended. It will be going down on a soon-to-be-announced Friday in October. Keep your ears peeled and eyes posted here for further details!!!

Ok, I've run out of exclamation points and links for the WARHORN sign-up site. That's all for now, my little pseudo-dragons!

As a heads up guys, I might not be at pathfinder games for a bit.

I'm starting to get sick again and I want to make sure it doesn't get as bad as last time. Sadly, school has to be the priority. >_<

I'll be back as soon as I'm able, until then find some paths for me. ^_^

Take care of yourself. We'll keep the Aspis Consortium busy until you get back.

It's OK Aly, school, family, one's health and the like always take priority. We'll try not to play through all the scenarios before you can get back. ;)

All of the above is utter crap. SOUND OFF PATHFINDER! GET YOUR BUTT ON THE READY LINE!!!!

Feel better.

Grand Lodge 5/5 * Venture-Captain, New Zealand—Dunedin

Wow. Portland was that good, eh, SP?

Alright, I feel confident that I can make the following announcements, so here goes:

1.) APL GMs take notice! The "GM 101 Course" will be happening October 19th at 6PM at the Wyvern's Tale. This course is open for any and all aspiring and current GMs. Designed specifically with Pathfinder and Society play in mind, the course contents can be adapted and used for any gaming system. It was originally designed by the good folks down in Atlanta, and we have access to it now here in Asheville. Sign-ups for this on WARHORN are now open!!!

What are we going to be learning, might you ask? Here's your b#$#~in' syllabus:

I. What Makes a Good GM
II. Roleplaying and Lore
III. Running the Game
IV. GMing Difficult Scenarios
V. The Deck of Many Situations, Parts 1 and 2

And no, I'm not explaining ANY OF IT. Sign up if you want to learn how to improve your game-mastery. It's going to rock out like Mike Tyson's Knock-Out.

2.) December 12, 2012 might seem like some random Wednesday in the middle of the non-exciting part of December to you, but to us in the APL, it's our MOFO birthday!!!! And we're going to party it up CORRECT.

How? Might you ask? Well, first of all, we're not doing anything on a Wednesday night. That's lame. We will be partying on 12/15/12. Mark it on your calendars now. And we'll be running the most bad-ass PFS scenario that we can find. That's right.....Blood Under Absalom.

For those of you not in-the-know, Blood Under is a multi-table MELEE of the highest order with a MINIMUM number of 5 separate tables all gaming the same game at the same time. Multiple different levels can be accommodated in this game, and there are BIG prizes to be had at the end of this doo-hickey. You want to be at the WT on December 15th. And that's why I'm telling you now, people, so you can get your plans fixed in order to be present.

Got questions? I'm sure you do. Hit me up here or when you see me in person. Until then.....*swagger*

-Dink

Shadow Lodge 2/5

If I can ask for anyone who is an AB-Tech Student to send me a message, I need it so we can have an APL at the Campus....
I gotta do some paper work...

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Happy Belated B-day Zylph,Welcome Back CP, Sorry your Sick Aly, Paul I signed Up For the GM Class. Winter Is Coming and my Fridays are going to be freed up So I Would like to start GM'ing Friday's At WT 12:30 to 5 pm.
Ill give yea dates Hence Im Still new thats why i want to the class so props Mr Dink. Thanks

Shadow Lodge 2/5

Just a reminder I will be running Intro steps on Friday's at the WT so if you know any new people who would be interested, have them come on Friday 12-Close and we can roll them up a character and get them ready for Saturday!

ObscureLego wrote:
...we can roll them up a character...

Weird how the term "rolling" jumped over to MMOs where it's almost never applied, and now it's back to a somewhat MMO-like form of tabletop gaming where it also doesn't apply.

We did have a relatively new guy making a character this past Saturday, and he started by rolling some d6 before we explained the point-buy system. :)

Can Blood Under Absalom be replayed for credit? I ran it once before at Scarab...

Grand Lodge 5/5 * Venture-Captain, New Zealand—Dunedin

Sadly, no. But you can always play again for the sheer madness...

Grand Lodge 5/5 * Venture-Captain, New Zealand—Dunedin

Aravandor, I may need to clarify: did you PLAY or GM Blood Under at SCARAB? If you GM'd it, you can play it for credit. If you played it, you can GM it for credit.

I guess I'm confused with your term "ran it". What did you do at SCARAB, again?

Silver Crusade 5/5

I may be coming to the noon session Saturday, but it'll depend on the wife's mood, so I'm not signing up, but cross you fingers for me.

Can't wait to see all you crazy folks, I missed ya somethin terrible.

Dark Archive 3/5

Ok, I see that there is a cantina available at Scarab. How does the cantina work?

Scarab Sages 4/5

You will be provided SCARAB bucks that you can use at the canteen or dealers area. You will pick them up from the PFS coordinator each day.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Huh. I think I may need to check and see what the deal is with Scarab. I think I have reserved the hotel, but I can't recall.

So much going on, so little brainpower...
