If I had seen the sign up for this thing sooner (meaning back in November or December) I would have loved to be able to head up state to play or GM with you guys (and catbunnygnomes).

Unfortunately, Ive got a Runelords game scheduled for Saturday now, so no way am I making it. I guess I'll just have to make do with killing my homegame PCs instead of other peoples PFS PCs. :/

Good luck you brave souls heading once more into the breach. I am cheering for you. This weekend I'm heading to a much smaller breach, my local bi-weekly PFS event. Hopefully I can earn an iota of your glory during that session.

Next year, I may be able to join you!

We're here and slot one is running in earnest. Last year the convention hosted roughly three tables of PFS...for the entire con! This year, slot one, we sat seven tables alone, and there are still six more slots to go. Woot!

jjaamm is boring us with his rendition of Sewer Dragons of Absalom and nosig is incognito (not wearing his take 10 shirt), but we found him nonetheless. The CatBunnyGnome is eagerly awaiting her first chance to run a table in 60 minutes flat.

I just got M-Dog GM's herded and they should all be eagerly prepping now. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to handle prizes atm. I'm thinking either A) Everyone comes to my table and rolls my fancy flashing D20 but that may be more chaotic than I desire, or B) they roll at their table and high roller either B1) Rolls my flashy D20, or B2) Maybe do like Doug Miles did with the cards and picks one of my Harrow Cards. Though I can't bank roll nearly as many prizes as Doug did. Wonder if I can get some prize support from FLGS.

Thanks to Bob, the GMs, and all who participated for making it an awesome weekend of PFS at Winter War. :)

2/5 ****

I worry about what will happen when Bob and Thea get bored with running PFS - they made that a smoothly running machine. When convention coordination starts to pale, well, I suspect they'll start invading small countries rich in chocolates and poor in military firepower...

Nice job guys. Played five slots.

One table was 'meh', three were good, and one...the GM really needed more prep time, but was short of a total disaster.

Sczarni 5/5

Had a blast. Thanks to Bob & crew for all the fun. Too bad I only got to kill 1 PC :)

The Exchange 5/5

Most likely I should not post so soon after (without a few days reflection) - but here goes.

(the following comments are from my view, realizing that other than trips thru the dealers room, I only saw the PF part, and that only from the view of a player).

The convention was well run and very professional. I would like to give alot of praise to the organization (all persons involved) that put it on. Thank you for your efforts. (I've done this before and realize how much effort it is - It's hard, and you did a good job).

I took one slot off to eat, relax and "smooze" with fellow gamers. Met some nice people, had a lot of fun swapping stories and saw some cool new "toys".

Of the 6 slots I played.

2 were very good (one with a beginning Judge who was soft spoken and may one day be a great Judge - wish I could play for him again.)

2 that were Ok - (one with a very polished judge) kind of wish I could have done better for them, and they were more fun then the games I played this year at GenCon.

1 was kind of blah - but I beleave it was the Mod and was still a fun game. Players were nice, and the Judge ran it well, and that's the most important things.

1 was the worse experience in organized play I have had sense year 4 in L.G. (that would be 2004, so I guess it's 7 years). Maybe not the worst game I have ever had, but easily in the worst 5. It's making me think hard about getting out of OP and just going back to home games. Maybe after a few days reflection I'll decide the fun times meeting new people and playing games with them is worth it occasional disaster. I hope so. Right now I'm to close to the train wreak to enjoy the trip.

Great job, great fun as always...but I have to disagree with what you say about last year...I alone played 6 slots of PFS last year, and looking at Warhorn (and off of memory), there were at least 16 tables that made during the reg period, not counting at least 5-10 more that made once everyone showed up those days.

So yeah, there were a lot more this year, no doubt (and NONE of that nasty other d20 fantasy rpg that's out there.....), but I don't think anyone wants to discount what the previous organizers of the con have done in the past - each year since PFS came out they've been getting more and more active.

In any case, thanks to all the organizers and judges for another great Winter War!

8 hours of driving to run 3 games and watch a good slot of the special

It was a fun, busy weekend ... and definately interesting to put faces to some of the board names.

good games were had by all...

caught up with some players from my favorite gencon table

saw a few dice rolls of the big orange dice

now

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz while I'm at work

oh .... and I'm feeling MUCH MUCH better hehe ;)

I TOO HAD A GREAT WEEKEND. THANKS BOB for organizing a great convention. And thanks for all the GM's that showed up to our little neck of the woods to GM. Had a really fun time with all my games.

The Exchange 5/5

Thanks to Bob and all his minions, among which I was counted. This was a very well-organized PFS convention. The best I have seen, in fact. All my players were fun, considerate and prepared. It made GMing very relaxing. Thanks guys! I hope that Bob isn't smart enough to escape from organizing PFS at Winter War next year. It's going to be even bigger, wait and see!

I apologize if my numbers for the previous year were off. This was my first time at this convention and I was basing my info on what I was told by previous attendees. Guess that'll teach me to listen to heresay. :-)

I in no way intended to disparage the efforts of prior organizers. I am sorry if my comments sounded that way. The convention is an outstanding venue and everyone I have met from the region has been awesome! I am quite sure that whatever has occurred at prior Winter Wars was well coordinated.

S'all good Bob, didn't mean to sound accusatory to ya - just thought I'd point it out, that's all. Once again thanks for your (and the other VCs/VLs) hard work this year at getting things organized, getting prizes there, participating and more (and I guess I'll thank Thea too....well on second thought...........heh heh).

well... maybe. not sure right now if I'm going to be doing this again, so unless you come down to St.Louis for a game day... was fun doing the "networking" thing.

give it a few days and you'll be jonsing for it again .. it wasn't all bad and you gained some judge knowledge for if there is a next time.

I got to play in "Blood Under Absalom" on Saturday evening, with my brand-new pirate rogue PC (she proved to be an awesome acrobat, but horrible at actually inflicting damage ;) ). Had a lot of fun, with a pretty good group of players, and a good DM in Chris. From what I saw, the event organization was top-notch, and the extra boons were very cool. Thanks, all!

5/5

Had a great time. Ran a couple of tables for the first time at a con...I hope I wasn't nosig's bad experience. It made for a long day, up at 8AM Saturday to pack and drive there, and home by 4 AM Sunday morning before a chance to crawl into bed. I'd gladly do it again...though hopefully would be able to make it a full weekend next time.

GAME ON!

Winter War was tons of fun and all in all worth the 8 hour drive to get there. As a mostly-player, it was fantastic to play with and learn from so many great judges and fellow players.

Stuff I liked:
Great people, fun boons, awesomely organized, biting another player (in game), literally flying through Blood Under Absalom, other stuff that my highway-numbed brain can't recollect

Not so nice stuff:
Not being put in the farthest corner from the vendors and food would have been nice.

Now I just need to rest up for Gamicon Phi.

I had a great time also, I can't believe I had this great con so close to Chicago all these years and only attended it for the first time (I even lived in Champaign 2 years). Unfortunately, I most likely won't be attending in the foreseeable future, since I'm packing up and moving to Seattle, but this was one of the best local cons I've been to. Met a lot of fun players and great GMs.

Great job organizing Bob and all others who either DM'd or played. I wish my wife wasn't so sick so she could have attended, which made me miss quite a few slots. I'll make sure and not tell her that :)

Doug, first time I played at a table where you DM'd. You did an awesome job, and most rememarble of such a DM in a long time.

Great time all around.

Beerwolf, thank you for the compliment. I was fortunate that all the players at my tables were organized, good-humored and community-minded. It made the con relaxing and enjoyable.

I played at your table as well. You did a great job. That player who plays Omek the Magus though... he was an interesting fella.

Reporting completed...55 tables!

I want to thank all the GM's and players for coming and making this event a success. When I started with this convention a few months back, I had concerns that we would be able to pull it off, but it turned out great. It was awesome to see so many players/GM's that drove in from out of state as well as such a great local turnout.

I had a great time and we received compliments from the convention staff. This is definitely an event that can grow and I hope we can increase the number of tables we offer next year. Perhaps we can get a location closer to the vendors hall and more importantly, the food. :-)

See ya all next year!

Thanks again Bob

Bob, sorry to highjack. There is a reporting error. Shaun ran a table of Wonders in the Weave Pt I and Part II (all the same characters), but it was reported as two tables of Part II (and characters were dinged as having played it already). Saw this when I audited my sessions.

Thanks for reporting!

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

Anyone who sees an error in their reported sessions, email me or send a private message using the new website option. Please include the scenario name/number, GM's PFS#, date/time slot, your PFS#, character#, and faction.

With everything going on at the convention, I did not have the chance to review every reporting sheet as it was turned in. Some did not include important information such as which scenario was run. One sheet was submitted without the GM's PFS# recorded and there were quite a few player PFS#'s that were not legible. I think I was able to figure out all the issues, but there could be some errors.

Sczarni 5/5

i'll be there next year bob. thanks for a fun event!
