I want Private Messages functionality

Website Feedback

Scarab Sages

I dont know if there is a suggestion forum on here, so I'm sorry in advance.

I notice alot of people don't put an email address (or any contact info) on their profiles on here. I can understand the reasons- which is why I vote that Paizo's web devs implement a PM(private message) system- so that we can contact other players without giving away sensitive info. Many other sites (with message boards and the like) have this ability- and it is incredibly useful. That way I dont have to reply to a board with off-topic comments in an attempt to get in touch with other local users.

Everybody please sign my petition if you agree.

I want it so I can spam TOZ with ASCII porn.

I want Gorbacz's head on a pike. However, like a PM system, it requires a lot of manhours that are not available to invest in making it a reality.

I would love a simple drop box function. That would work well enough.

Private messages have been on the todo list for a long time.

We will have them someday, I swear!

Is 2012 a realistic estimate?

Before or after the Aztec calendar ends?

Scarab Sages

Agreed. Time to implement.

You can just tell people I'm you intern... or protegie....or stalker. Whatever you're most ocnfortabble with.

I would like to see some form of private messaging... it would be nice, especially if you wanted to contact a VC about an upcoming event.

Great idea! We'll put it on the to-do list.

But where does it fall on the to-do list?

Probably near the bottom. ;)

Do spinning dart boards have "bottoms"?

While you're taking requests...I want a Zombiefied feature that automatically converts any normal post into "Mmmmm....brainnnssss" at random intervals.

Scarab Sages

YAY! I'm so happy to see that people in positions of power (or at least the power to whisper in the right ears) have taken notice.

Thankyou, I will be looking forward to the day when I can send out PMs

ARE THEY HERE YET.

Considering the first request Gary linked to was in 2006, I wouldn't hold your breath. On the plus side, it's now five years closer to realization than it was when first requested! :)

At any single point in time, an object moving can be defined as having a top and a bottom relative to another plane (such as a floor and ceiling of a room).

So, yes.

But given time and the motion of the object, that bottom can be rapidly changing and incredibly hard to hit. ;)

So conversely it will periodically be at the top!

So....Next thursday then?

Not be so hasty. Let say thursday... Without specifing which one.

It would be cool to have PM's integrated with PBP's so we could quickly and easily poke another player for a response straight from our PBP post.

But then my players will be able to get hold of me when I neglect my campaigns.

We are very unlikely to provide a private message-to-email service. Any implementation of private messaging we do would be about as easy to ignore as your campaigns tab, which should already have "x new" indicators on each thread when there's been posts you haven't read yet.

Liberty's Edge

But, um, if people don't want to be emailed when they get a PM, they could simply turn that option off, right? I mean, that doesn't sound too crazy, does it?

From a web marketing standpoint, isn't anything that drives traffic to your site a good thing? I'm honestly asking.

Vic touched on this a bit here.

I always figured a PM function would be one of the signs... ^_^

That's a good point, I suppose, but there are ways around that problem - another domain for the messaging system would be the single most obvious one. I hope you will at least enable RSS functionality on someone's inbox. That would work for me, at least.

If someone sends me a message, I would like to know about it, is all. It only makes sense. But you're a bright fellow, PMG. You'll bring us to the promised land.

Really? I just assumed it was a "design choice". That's great to hear!

I wasn't thinking of anything beyond the normal PM system, whatever that turns out to be. It's more a psychological issue than functional one. People who are actively on the boards seem to not notice their pbp threads until somebody else in the pbp posts on another thread, "Hey, it's your turn." It's odd, but a personal notice gets better response than the number of new posts indicator. People are strange.

Scarab Sages

Woot woot! we got PM function. Thankyou PAIZO!
