Private Messaging

Website Feedback

Over the course of my time here, I've really fallen in love with the forum, there are alot of really cool, helpful, friendly people here, staff and fans alike. But there's always been one thing missing from it's functionality. Private messaging.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's wished I had the option available, to be able to discuss matters without involving the entirity of the community, to be able to exchange email addresses without leaving them in the open where anyone could have them, etc etc.

So... is there any chance maybe we could get a private messaging feature guys?

I second this request- PMs would be great, and help my players/friends keep in touch with me since I'm on here a lot more often than I am on my yahoo account!!!

From what I remember Gary Teter saying is that messaging is on the to do list, but there are several thing ahead of it.

For now, one of the easier solutions is to put contact information somewhere where a searchbot won't find it easily, to keep in contact via email with those you want to.

There's also the DMTools site chat, http://chat.dmtools.org/, which is the unofficial Paizo chat.

Scarab Sages

There's also at least two Facebook groups, 'Pathfinder RPG' and 'Paizonians', which have a LOT of The Usual Suspects as members.

If you can't find them, drop me a mail (hidden in my profile).

You also get to see people's ugly mugs, when they're not hiding behind an avatar!

PMs open up additional opportunities for abuse, though. On other boards, I've seen heated arguments and flame wars get shut down by moderators only to continue behind the scenes in PMs. If we have PM capabilities, I'd also like to see an ignore function that allowed me to choose offensive or annoying users and simply hide their posts and PMs so that I don't have to worry about them harassing me where the moderators can't see.

I refuse to be ign-

Yes, I agree with that one, yoda.

+1 On the abuse of PM. Maybe as a feature of an online PFRPG game to help GMs get information to specific players but not as just a social tool. It may get into legal complications if someone "stalks" someone and that would be the last thing i want to see on CNN.

I am still rebuking christian groups over what happened in the 80's over my beloved "world's most famous RPG".

I thought an ignore feature came standard with PMing...sorry to hear that it doesn't! I'll add my voice to yours on that, Yoda.
