Question on suggestion spell

Rules Questions

Dark Archive

Open question question as a DM.

One of my players has been suggested(using the "Suggestion " spell) by succubus to strip off his armour such that he can show his powerful muscles.
Another has been suggested to go see the BBG by himself and bow before him.

Would you consider these requests as reasonnable ?

Can the players do something else meanwhile.
Can the stripping off player fight meanwhile ? Can he cast spell ?
Do anything ?
Can the other one moving to the BBG cast spells while moving ?

What happens if the one who cast suggestion hurts the target ?

Thanks a lot for your help

First, realize that you are going to get a lot of different answers/opinions. Suggestion is a hotly debated spell. Ultimately the way you decide to play the Suggestion spell out is up to you, as the DM.

The description of the spell says, "The suggestion must be worded in such a manner as to make the activity sound reasonable." I have taken that to mean that the activity itself does not have to be entirely reasonable, as long as the way the request is made is worded reasonably. If the succubus said, "Take off your armor so I can stab you in the chest" ... unreasonable. If the succubus said (as you stated) "Take off your armor so I can see your powerful muscles" then sure, that is worded reasonably, especially coming from a (presumably) beautiful female.

I would say, no, the players cannot do anything in the meantime while they are acting out the Suggestion spell. But remember that once they complete the "requests" of the spell, the spell is over. So the fighter strips off his armor, then the spell ends. If he's in medium armor, this takes 1 minute. (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/armor#TOC-Getting-Into-and-Out-o f-Armor) Once his armor is off, he will act normally again. The succubus can't say "Okay now flex your muscles for me for an hour!" once his armor is off.

Suggesting that the other character go see the BBG might be stretching it a little. Does the party know that the BBG is their enemy? Is he powerful (powerful enough to kill a PC when alone?) The spell says, "Asking the creature to do some obviously harmful act automatically negates the effect of the spell." This is a grey area. Bowing before a person is not obviously harmful but if the PC knows that the BBG wants him dead, it could be seen as harmful. You will have to decide how you want to play that one out based on what the PCs know of the BBG.

The spell does not say it ends if the caster attacks the target, so I would say the spell continues until the duration runs out, the suggestion is completed, or the target is dead, even if the target is being hurt by the caster.
