Core Rule book 1st printing

Product Discussion

Sovereign Court

So this weekend as we where playing the question came up about summon monster II

As I was looking at my book and reading off what could be summoned, another player looked and low and behold my list was different than everyone else's. My book is a 1st printing.

I am not wanting to have to download all the updates and then have a separate book that I have to dig through, nor do I want to have to use a PDF version. on a PC which I do have but I find a book is easy to use and faster as well.

Paying another $49.00 for a book is out of the question. I'd be be more inclined to buy a copy from Amazon IF I knew it was the newest printing. And the only reason i would do amazon is it is much cheaper. I'd rather get it fro Paizo but I do not need 2 $50 books

Suggestions?

This is How I do it.

I download the Errata and keep that withe me when I game and I buy a New book every other new Print, and sell my old book to a friend.

If you have a PDF version that you received from Paizo, you will automatically be notified and your PDF updated to the latest printing of the book.
Edit: I see that you prefer not to have to use a PDF. I have gone back and edited, in pen, the errata in my printings of the Core Rulebook. This may not work for everyone, I grant you. :)

When I want to use errata, I print it and tuck it in the back of the book. Since you don't want to reference outside information, I think the only option is to find someone selling their copy somewhere. :(

I have a first printing as well. When questions come up, we usually use a laptop or an iphone to look up info on the Pathfinder Reference Document. YMMV.

I bought my core rulebook on Amazon back in June and it was the latest printing, 4th printing.

have you considered printing out the errata onto sticker sheets, cutting out the parts needed and placing them over the original data? Plain paper and tape work also, only thicker. There's also post-it notes, even if it just says, "see errata".

To me, it comes down to if you (or me) are collecting the book and want to keep it as purchased, or use it untill it wares out, then gets another. If the latter, grab some stickers and pens and mark it up.

This is a reason why I do not like the concept of adding errata into the actual print copies of books. I have no problem with errata as a separate document, but making it so people may have inconsistent text in their seemingly identical books will lead to problems.

Edit:
OP - be very cautious about ordering from amazon or any other retailer to solve this problem. There is absolutely no guarantee you will get the latest printing. I know of at least one person that ordered a copy from them a few months ago and got a first printing book.

Silver Crusade

I have every core/apg/ultimate book, including the 1st printing Collector Edition of the Core rulebook, with the simili-cuir cover, a golden goblin on the back and ye olde red tissue bookmarks.

I don't use them.

To be clear, there's only one update to download; each time we reprint, we create a new single cumulative errata document for each previous printing that includes all of the changes made since that printing.

On the Pathfinder RPG Resource page, look for the file labeled "To update First Printing to Fourth Printing."

Odds are very good that you'll get 4th printings from most vendors today, since it has been shipping for just over a year now... but "very good odds" isn't a guarantee; there is still a *possibility* that you'll end up with an older printing. (The exception to this is at paizo.com; we ship only current printings.)
