Help creating Fey Themed Druid / Bard Fusion

Advice

Looking to build some custom content for a druid/bard fusion focusing on the fey concept of nature. I'm not sure whether to go with an archetype or prestige class, but the group I'm playing with heavily favors archetypes. Also, only Core & APG is available, as well as thoroughly reviewed homebrew content. So I'm gonna make some homebrew content.

Aside from the basic theme I'm not sure where to go with this and I'm looking for some ideas. Charm/enchantment magic seems very appropriate to the theme, as does animal companionship. I'm not sure if wildshaping would tie into this at all.

Ideas?

Why not simply play a sorcerer with the Sylvan or Fey bloodlines? That way you're not diluting caster levels or mixing two classes with different stat dependencies.

For a more fey-focused Druid, you can gain alot of different Domains via Sub-Domains and Archetypes, including stuff like Trickery. On top of an archetype like that taps into Ley Lines, and it seems pretty good to go, without Bard abilities per se, but have a decent CHA score (and INT) and you can play the part skill-wise. Grab a Familiar via some method and you`re good to go.

I'm really looking to build some homebrew content that would allow me to mix the two classes. Perhaps an archetype that swapped around features or a prestige class. My true goal is to combine the bard and druid, but with a fey twist as fey play a very large role in the setting we play in.

Think something along the lines of the Fochlucan Lyrist or Arcane Hierophant.

The Lyrist really does seem to be the thing for the job. If your DM won't allow it, find out why, and try to adjust it to something you can use if he's open to homebrew?

Otherwise, I agree with fey heritage sorcerer, or witch with eldritch heritage to steal fey bloodline. Or the druid with a domain.

If Ultimate Magic was available, I'd suggest the Sylvan Bloodline Sorcerer, preferably elven or half-elven in flavor. You have arcane flavor, a druidic type companion and druid spells added to your sorcerer mix, which heavily favors fey type enchantment spells.

+1.

And inspire courage on animals companions or summons is great.

If restricted to Core and APG, maybe a vanilla (or magician) Elf, Half-elf or Gnome bard?

I mean, elves and gnomes are fey inspired, right? Why search elsewhere?

How about a bard archetype...

At 1st level, he gains Fly, Handle Animal, Ride and Survival as class skills. Replaces Bardic Knowledge.

At 1st level, he learns a number of 0-level spells as noted on the bard spells known table. He can choose these spells from the bard and druid spell lists. These spells are cast like any other spell, but they do not consume any slots and may be used again. Replaces Cantrips.

At 2nd level he adds ½ his bard level to Knowledge (nature), Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (local) skill checks and can use these skills untrained. Replaces Versatile Perfomance.

At 4th level, he gains an animal companion. This works as a ranger’s animal companion, use the bard’s level as his ranger level. Replaces Inspire Courage.

At 7th level, he can add one spell from the druid’s spell list to his spells known as noted on the bard spells known table. This spell’s availability is determined and is cast using his bard level as his druid level. At 10th level, and every 3 levels thereafter, he can select an additional spell known from the druid’s spell list. Replaces Lore Master and Jack of All Trades.

There is not a lot of fey flavor added, but I feel playing an elf, half elf or gnome would cover that for the most part.
