Ridiculous Animal Compainion?

Homebrew and House Rules

Howdy everyone

I am task by the GM to make an 40 level npc (Druid/summoner or Druid/Ranger) with a Ridiculous ideal for a animal compainion. What type should I make?
I was thimk of using the template 1/2 Dragon mix in an animal. Or, should I go a different route?

Pathfinder doesn't really support character levels beyond 20, so you're on your own here. Basically everything you need for your problem falls into the domain of house rules. For example, there is no progression for companions beyond level 20. Also, adding templates like Half-Dragon to an animal companion is not within the normal scope of the rules.

Like Zaister said, you're out of the rules on this one. I suggest bumping the animal companion's intelligence, and letting it take class levels, similar to a cohort. A level 20 ranger or barbarian with 16 animal hitdice would be 'ridiculous'.

Here another example why people aren't get it. Rules are just guide lines. Think Positive and just imageinate the possibilities go out side the box. I am just trying with the creativity of the game.

Well this is the rules forum where the rules are more than guidelines, and your question can't be answered within the framework of these rules. I'm not saying that you shouldn't do what you want to do. By all means, you are of course free to do stuff like that, but no matter what, whatever you do falls outside the Pathfinder rule set and is basically house rules.

As long as we're thinking outside the box, how about a Protean animal companion with levels in Inquisitor?

Why go with the mundane supernatural, when you could go with something seriously wack?

Have the druid/summoner have a bunny as animal companion. Yes. A level 40 bunny (with all the natural armor, str/dex bonus, etc) that this implies.

Shouldn't an animal companion be ... well, an animal?

The rules have already been tossed, so why confine ourselves?

Besides, a protean inquisitor would probably spontaneously combust, no? Think of the blast damage.

EDIT: Oops, I am informed that inquisitors don't have to be lawful. My bad. Protean with levels in Monk, then.

BOOM!

Man, that one Paladin squirrel is going to be nuts!

Edit: Fixed my spelling errors

Are you sure your GM isn't asking for a 20th level Gestalt character?

Either way, if you're going for pure silliness how about a dire kitten?

Heck if you're level 40, Why not the Terrasque?

*EDIT* Unless of course you are a gestalt level 20/20... In which case a T-rex is never a bad choice...

Super. Intelligent. T-Rex.

Why the hell wouldn't you make that?
HE CAN WEAR A MONOCLE AND TOP HAT!!!!

Shadow Lodge

why not even go so far as to have a feral human barbarian as an animal companion?

This, plus if he's sm,art enough he can take class levels.... so levels in gunslinger... So you Hava Super intelligent T-rex with a monocle, Top Hat, and a Pistol!

*EDIT* Don't forget the magical Hugh Hefner Smoking Jacket and cigarette on a stem ala the penguin....

And here you have for inspiration...

By extrapolating the Animal Companion level chart and using the RAW (more or less,) I think I've crafted a pretty ridiculous level 40 animal for you. Pretty sure all my math is right and I didn't add any equipment other than a suit of +5 leather armor.

Dire Platypus Animal Companion:
CR 36
XP 3,710,000
N large animal
Init +8; Senses low-light vision, tremorsense 30ft.; Perception +23

DEFENSE
AC 40, touch 18, flat-footed 33 (+8 Dex, +26 natural, +7 leather barding +5)
hp 372 (31d8+248)
Fort +29, Ref +31, Will +17

OFFENSE
Speed 40 ft., burrow 20ft., swim 30 ft. Space/Reach 10ft/5ft
Melee bite +36/+31 (2d6+16)
Special Attacks Grab, Spur +36 (1d8+11 plus poison)

STATISTICS
Str 32, Dex 27, Con 26, Int 3, Wis 14, Cha 4
Base Atk +24; CMB +31 (+35 grapple;) CMD 34 (38 vs. trip)

Feats Skill Focus (Perception,) Endurance, Diehard, Imp. Natural Attack (bite,) Toughness, Ability Focus (Spur,) Blind Fight, Great Fortitude, Lightning Reflexes, Iron Will, Power Attack, Imp. Bull Rush, Awesome Blow, Light Armor Proficiency, Combat Reflexes

Skills Perception +23, Stealth +17, Swim +29; Racial Modifiers +4 Swim and Perception

Bonus Tricks: pretty much all of them, some of them twice

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Spur (Ex)
A platypus that manages to grapple a foe may choose to use the spurs on its hind feet to pierce its held prey instead of its bite. Only male platypuses possess poison. Spur—injury; save Fort DC 36; frequency 1/rd, 4rds; effect 1d4 Str damage; cure 2 consecutive saves. The save DC is Constitution-based.

Link (Ex)
A druid can handle her animal companion as a free action, or push it as a move action, even if she doesn’t have any ranks in the Handle Animal skill. The druid gains a +4 circumstance bonus on all wild empathy checks and Handle Animal checks made regarding an animal companion.

Share Spells (Ex)
The druid may cast a spell with a target of “You” on her animal companion (as a touch range spell) instead of on herself. A druid may cast spells on her animal companion even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the companion’s type (animal).

Evasion (Ex)
If an animal companion is subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, it takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw.

Devotion
An animal companion gains a +4 morale bonus on Will saves against enchantment spells and effects.
Ability Score Increase (Ex)
The animal companion adds +1 to any one of its ability scores.

Multiattack
An animal companion gains Multiattack as a bonus feat if it has three or more natural attacks and does not already have that feat. If it does not have the requisite three or more natural attacks, the animal companion instead gains a second attack with its primary natural weapon, albeit at a –5 penalty.

Improved Evasion (Ex)
When subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, an animal companion takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw and only half damage if the saving throw fails.

Have fun storming the outback.
