Thinking of Running an E6 campaign -- A Question

Advice

Is there a "Pathfinder" version of E6? I would assume that the 3.5 variation works just fine, but I'm just wondering if it's been effectively updated to PF.

And any advice on running such a campaign would be great.

The most I can say about a PF update is that I see e8 paired with pathfinder far more often than I see e6. This might have something to do with BAB and giving medium BAB classes a chance at the second attack, but a lot of PF classes have 8 as a natural breaking point.

I see E7 as the breakpoint - its when a lot of classes pick up a good class feature (6? Not so much), its a feat gaining level AND it doesn't give the medium BAB classes that second attack (allowing fighters etc to feel special)... it also better differentiates Half, 3/4 and full BAB characters... dedicated 1/2 BAB will top out at +3 BAB, dedicated 3/4 BAB will top out at +5 BAB and full tops out at +7 (and the only ones with a 2nd attack).

E6 avoids level 4 spells as being too godlike etc. With E7 you can either allow a small select range of level 4 spells, OR make level 4 access the equivalent of ritual magic (needs increased time like 1 hour or go to the next highest casting time, so 1 turn becomes 1 minute, 1 minute an hour and so on) OR, as I do, make the single level 4 slot (I dont count stat bonuses for 4th) the equivalent of a wizards focus bonus spell - ie can use any of his spells once per day.

E8 doesn't really capture the feel of E6 - medium BAB's also get that 2nd attack and allows for level 4 spells a bit more readily than the above gatekeeper methods.

Well, if you consider using E10, you may bring back the flavor of AD&D 2nd edition. I guess it can be really delightful for nostalgic players.
Just a thought, anyway...

I've done this. My fix was pretty simple. We took the long track XP chart and doubled it, but gave a bonus feat at the halfway points between levels. Once they got to 6th, I gave out bonus feats periodically and even let them gain higher level abilities but kept the numbers static. It was very manageable. The characters felt very epic, but the numbers never bogged down.
