As a synethist is effectively part of his eidelon, does he gain the benefits of any armour or magic items the summoner is carrying?

Read the synthesist archetype. It very clearly states that the summoner still has access to all of his own items and abilities. So... yes, he continues to benefit from his items. Which means you can wear something like a +2 strength belt, and have the eidolon's strength score benefit from the strength enhancement while fused.

Short answer: Armour no. Magic Items yes.

Hi, I have a question about, synthesist equipment, to be more precise, about non-magical equipment.
Is the synthesist immune to sleight of hands, or if he goes underwater does his equipment get wet?
I'm dming and the player is arguing that the eidolon protects him.

Thanks

You really should create a new thread instead of asking a related question in a 11-year-old thread.

But as far as your questions go, no the eidolon does not make him immune to sleight of hand. First of all, the eidolon acts as a suit of armor and armor does not protect a person from sleight of hand. Second of all the, summoner can still use all his items and gear except armor. If the eidolon protected the character from sleight of hand it would also prevent him from drawing and using those items. If you are feeling generous you might give a minor penalty on someone using sleight of hand on him.

As for preventing him from getting wet that does not work either. Normal armor does not protect someone from getting wet so being fused with his eidolon does not either. If the eidolon formed an airtight suit how is the summoner breathing? If it keeps out water, it will also protect him from things like cloud kill. That is way too powerful of an ability to give a first level character.

Fused Eidolon does exactly what it says no more, and no less. If he pushes it make him start to suffocate when he joins with his eidolon. To be fair he would be able to hold his breath before he actually starts to suffocate, but his time in his eidolon will be severely limited.
