How dose percent chance work.

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

For rules that say things like x has a y chance of happening, how is that done. How dose it work with the dice?

The simple ones are the "in y", where you have a die for "y" eg 3 in 4 chance is 1-3 on a d4, 1-6 on a d8, 1-8 on a d12 or 1-15 on a d20

For simple numbers like 2 in 7, roll a d8. 1 or a 2 is success (Reroll a result of 8)

Get a calculator out for other numbers and roll the percentage dice

The Exchange

The simplest way is to start at 1%.

If you have a 20% miss chance, roll your percentile dice and anything from 01-20% misses, 21-100% hits.

Some people like to change it, to 'high' where the miss happens on a roll of 80-100, but like I said the simplest way is to go with 1%-x% gives the stated result.

If you need help with the basics, roll two ten-sided dice. The first represents zero to ninety, going up in tens. The second represents zero to nine. You add the two together. Two zeroes mean 100. Get equal or less than the percentage chance, and the event happens.

20% or so is easier with 1d10 though. 1 and 2 misses, 3-10 hits.
50% same, 1-5 miss, 6-10 hits. or a d6.
Of course you can take a d20 too, and just double the ranges.

the d% really only is needed when it's some weird percentage, like 23% chance for something.

If you play on table top you can buy a real 1d100.
