IMO, the argument that it is fair/unfair to distribute boons to convention goers is ridiculous. It is no more fair to "penalize" non-attendees by giving boons, than it is to "penalize" attendees by not giving them out.
I did not attend PaizoCon. Did Paizo distribute some convention-specific boons? I'm not sure, but whether or not they did, has no baring on my play. If I sat at a table with a player who had one of those boons, I trust Paizo to have it balanced for play, and therefore does not affect me anymore than if the player owned a book that I did not. And yes, I get that I have the option to buy the book, but it doesn't change the fact that I don't have access to the material.
It takes a lot of effort to produce a boon program from a creative standpoint thru publishing. I, for one, am glad that Paizo takes time away from their schedule to grant us additional FREE product.

WOTC, much as i hate them, still used a sort of rewards program to give back to its current subscribers and gms for its events. any plans to disseminate some boons through venture captains in the rest of the society?
For as much grief as I give Paizo, I still have to step in here to point out that WOTC gave out a lot of Gencon-Only, Origins-Only and DDExperience-Only prizes that could not be gained anywhere else.
It's not fair to compare Paizo to WOTC without recognizing that WOTC does the exact same thing.
Not to mention, that being a subscriber gives you benefits that non-subscribers don't have. Such as a small discount, a free PDF, and product a week before the rest of us.

To find out if a convention is going to get special boon support, I recommend contacting the PFS organizer for the event or the local VC. Our email addresses are located on page 30 of the Guide

And we also gave boons out at PAX this year as well. Quite a few people were able to snatch up a nifty chronicle that gave them the opportunity to play one of three restricted races. So yes, boons are going out to Cons other than just Gen Con ;)
Only three of the races, not all eight?

We debuted a new system at PAX this last weekend that I think we can refine to something that will be sent to Venture-Captains to run in their home regions. This being said, it will probably be a couple of months before we can find the appropriate time it will take to modify the program, but it is definitely on the list, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen before the end of the year, certainly.

Yeah, only three this time. But they were the three that, at least that I saw, generated the most interest. Tiefling, Aasimar, and Tengu

I'm not sure if this thread is still active. But I figured I'd add to it incase it isn't finished.
At Brewfest this past weekend I picked up a Tengu character Boon (and also a +2 Perception one. I guess the worst part is, I'm not sure if I'll use it anytime soon - I've got 2 first level characters already started making a total of 5 that are tier 1-5 for me. Kind of wish it had been an Aasimar to play with my wifes Aasimar - but give it time, I'm sure the little guy will grow on me.

Hello, Aaron. Welcome to the Pathfinder Society boards.
So far as I know, there is no official list of races that would have boons available at GenCon this year. Last year, there was a chance for players to win boons that allowed for aasimar, tiefling, dhampyr, tengu, and the four elemental races. Currently, convention support allows for people to make characters from some of the Tian Xia races like kitsune, nagaji, and wayang.
I don't have any inside information, but I would guess that, if there are any racial boons available at GenCon this year, they wwould draw from that list.
Having said that, the Pathfinder Society has consistently offered cooler prize support and convention goodies than anybody expects, so I'm confident that something even spiffier is likely in the offing.

does anyone have a list if mods that will be allowing the boon races a gen con?
This year, for every two events you play in, you will win something, whether it be a special Pathfinder Society boon or a Pathfinder product.
For more info see the blog post.

Ok, first off, I believe you're confused about something. There is no scenario or module that allows the ability to play a non-core race (with the exception of the goblin pregens in We Be Goblins.)
What people are talking about is when you play at Gen Con you'll get a wooden token. Two of these tokens allows you a roll on a table to get a special boon/prize.
Now, as for when you could get something like it where you play, if you can organize a 3-4 day event that has 15+ tables (3-5 table slots, 5-3 table slots, 5-1 table slots and 5-2 table slots, or any combination that gets you 15 tables or more total) then you will probably qualify for some kind of boon/prize support. For that you just have to organize it and email Mike Brock the PFS Campaign Coordinator.

Do you know when they will be avalible? Or how I could run one of them for our group here?
Aaron, getting a non-core race is something that is only available through special boons that are player rewards for attending conventions. You do not get them for playing certain scenarios, but rather for playing at specific events. You should contact your local Venture-Captain to find which events in your area have Paizo convention support for PFS play, as those are the most likely to offer non-core races as boons (although it's not a guarantee).

Madclaw wrote:I'm actually inclined to agree with you. I don't know so much about the elitism but the fact that fun little goodies like that are available ONLY by attending a Con then those that don't have the time or can't afford to go miss out. There really should be something, such as an event day, that any store can hold so as to allow people unable to attend such events as GenCon or Paizo Con, the chance to get "exclusive" rewards and such. It's not just rewards though, there are also events, mods, and other such things that people without the means or schedule to go don't get to participate. It leaves a lot of people out. I know life isn't fair but giving the chance for others to earn such a prize or play in a special event would be nice.So far everything that has been done by Pathfinder Society at conventions has been available to any coordinator. The Midnight Mauler can be run by a 5-star GM or Venture Captain anywhere he wants to run it (JP Chapleau has run it at my store three times now, and will do so again, if I ask him to). The PFS Special Year of the Shadow Lodge that was run first run at GenCon last year is available to any coordinator that asks permission and can put together three tables of players (12 players and 3 GMs). We ran it at my store in September last year for 6 tables and had more clamoring for it, so ran it again at Ghengis Con in February.
I was lead to believe that the Pathfinder Specials needed to have 5 tables to qualify.
Up until these boons, everyone has had ample opportunity to play with the cool toys (and kids).
Now, I could be wrong: it's possible that these will be made available via some sort of special event much like the two I listed above. I certainly hope so. If not, the "elitism" comes from comments like this:
Dragnmoon wrote:For those not at Gen Con they where offering the chance at prizes to everyone playing/GMing PFS.I'm glad he got to get this cool reward. I wish he didn't feel the need to crow about it (and, yes, the pun is intentional; I don't actually think you feel "elitist," Dragnmoon - it's...
