SQUIRREL!!!
You laugh, but this bit (Ross remove please if I'm breaking rules):
It was hard to focus on his scent so close to the trees where there were so many other trails to follow. Some of the smells straightened my tail. I wanted to follow the path of the hare, but I am a good boy, so I followed Radovan’s trail instead.
I was half expecting a "Squirrel!" there.
Arnisant to Dug translation:
"I am a good dog I will follow Radovan's trail into the woods. I am- HARE! I will follow Radovan's trail into the woods." :-)

If I could read the opening sentence in Dug's voice, then I knew that the chapter was in Arnie's point of view. That worked for a while.
