if i supply the masterwork weapon to be enchanted. whats my cost? sorry if its the wrong forum i cant fin the answer anywhere

Assuming you have the time to wait for the enchancing to be done?
Depends on how much you want it to be enchanced, 2000gp if you want +1, 8000gp if you want +2 etc.

so essentially i save absolutely no gold. thats kind of depressing

Compared to what, exactly?

Dagger of Venom So the base cost of the items includes the cost of the Masterwork item, as does the sale price. So you save the cost of the masterwork item if you provide it.

You save the weapon cost. If you go to ye olde magic shop and want to buy a +1 longsword, it's going to cost you 2,315gp. If you hand over the sword to be enchanted, it's going to cost you 2,000gp and take 2 days. If you are doing the enchantment yourself it takes 1,000gp, 2 days, plus the cost of the MW sword (315gp) and you need the craft arms & armor feat.

For basic steel weapons the cost of the sword itself is a small fraction of the cost of magic weapons. The only real reason to have a particular sword enchanted is if it has sentimental value (your grandfather's sword, etc.) is made of odd materials (mithral, adamantine, etc.), or is some odd weapon you are not going to find easily (exotic weapons, bows made for crazy strengths, etc.)

The other reason is if you are having your sword upgraded. You can fork over 6,000gp and your old +1 sword, wait about a week, and get a +2 sword back. Beats paying 8,315 for a new +2 longsword and haveing to sell your old +1 one for half price (1,157.5gp)
