Aiden Frost |

My bad, missed that
Edit: He slides her sandwich and coffee gently onto the table. "There you are lassie."
Aiden slides easily into his chair and takes a bit of his sandwich, swallows, then says to Adina whilst looking at Floyd.
"Who's our new friend?"

Shane Gifford |

Sorry about the late entry.
The bell on the front door rings once again, and Reginald hustles in. His face is nearly red as his bright hair, and his large cheeks are shining in a rage. He storms over to the bookstore section of the cafe and sits down, hastily taking a book out of his bag and opening it. However, he gets only a few seconds into reading before he stops and squints his eyes shut hard in anger. He closes the book and knocks it against his skull a few times, making quite the scene but disregarding pretty much all those around him. He mutters to himself, "God, I hate Mike so much! That guy makes me just wanna..." His knuckles turn white as he clenches down hard onto the book and grits his teeth. After agonizing in this fashion a few seconds, he relaxes his grip and sits back, allowing his rage to flow out of him. He tries to remember the instructions the counselor gave him. Just calm down, take deep breaths... He takes a minute to calm himself, his crimson face slowly turning to a peachy pink. He finally opens his eyes, and looks around the store.
Reginald is embarrassed to note that a pretty girl nearby is staring at him and laughing under her breath, and gets up to move to the cafe section. He sits at a table, drinking in the smell of coffee and exhaling deeply. He waits a moment, then opens the book still in his hands, turning to the page he was at in The Crystal Shard. He starts to read, his brow furrowing and his face taking on a look of intense concentration. He enters the world of Drizzt Do'Urden once again, reading about the elf's struggles against a group of giants. After his mind gets into the rhythm of reading, he forgets all about Mike, and his countenance is much lighter.

Floyd Prince Tanner |
Floyd had just finished the first fold of the plane with Aiden returned with the food and drinks. "Pardon me Miss Adina. Hello Mr. Aiden, I am Floyd Tanner. I was just beginning to teach the young lady here how to fold the cobra paper airplane." Floyd kept up the gentlemanly air about him. He decided when he came over to the table that he would make a good second impression on both of them.
He stood and held out his hand to Aiden as a gesture of friendship and courtesy. Looking him in the eyes, he added with an honest smile, "It is nice to finally meet you. I have seen you around the school quite a bit but never actually talked to you for one reason or another."
Today is going to be interesting. There is a word I haven't used in a while.
Sorry about taking so long to get back to the post. I was watching V for Vendetta with the wife and even though I've seen it before I got WAY too into it to continue typing, lmao. Anyway, the airplane folding will have to wait until my next post or shortly thereafter, and I know you are all dying to see it. XP

![]() |
Ah sorry about that Trenton! Don't know what caused me to type Trevor instead, my bad. And sorry folks, am completely knackered after a looong day, don't have it in me to make a quality post right now. Be back early tomorrow.
lol np i was just going crap another new kid in school role

Shane Gifford |

Reginald's stomach growls once, and his attention is drawn away from his book. He looks down at his belly, puts a hand over it pensively, then looks to the cafe's menu for food. He decides on an order and, holding his page with one finger, walks over to the counter. He is about to place his order, but sees the young woman working behind the counter and hesitates. He recognizes her as one of the cheerleaders, though he doesn't know her name and knows that she certainly couldn't know him. He stutters, "Uhh... Can I get a... uh... a salami ciabatta... please?" His face starts to go red, and he can't help but stare at her.

Floyd Prince Tanner |
"Alright, like I was saying, you start with a simple hot dog fold to the paper." He sat down and started back into explaining the folding process with a very matter-of-fact kind of tone to his voice, but under that there was a genuine sort of energy or gladness at getting to not only do something he was good at but explain how it is that he did it. Floyd didn't fully understand why he felt that way and doubted anyone else would really know either.
The paper was folded in half length-wise in front of Floyd already and he opened it, flipped it over, and then refolded it in the other direction, making sure to press the crease with his nail. "Most of the folds that are made for this plane are done both ways so that the paper can do a collapsing fold later on; I do this for ease, but it doesn't have to be done if you are in a hurry." He opened it back up and then did another standard fold: taking the top two corners and folding them down to line up with the center crease. Again he undid those folds, flipped the paper over and folded them again the opposite direction.
He left the flaps down this time and brought the top corner of the paper down to the intersection of the horizontal line formed by the corners being folded in and the center crease. Floyd again made sure to press the crease down firmly with his nail, keeping all of the edges as straight as he could. Opening the paper all the way back to its original form, he looked up at the two watching him and said, "Here is the first tricky collapsing fold."
Floyd then started to fold down the two top flaps, and then lifted up the top corner which opened the entire section into a sort of cubic shape missing the top and side facing him. He pressed in the far side of the cube to lay flat on the paper and folded the rest of it in on top of that side, giving the plane a flat nose. He then folded that entire top section of the plane over across the horizontal line and pressed the crease down well with his nails again.
"Now we take the top corners and fold them down to the intersection of the vertical and horizontal lines, like so." He made the fold from one side and then again for the opposite side, and then flipped the paper over and made the same fold the other way on those same creases preparing for another collapsing fold. After setting up the fold for the collapse, he opened the paper back up by one step, and then proceeded to make the sides collapse under that top flap as he returned it to its folded position carefully re-creasing in the necessary areas.
Now that all of the necessary folds were finished to make the overall body of the plane, Floyd folded the paper back in half across the hot dog crease he made in the beginning with all of the extra folds he had done ended up on the outside. "And now for the wings as the final step." He folded simple wings for the paper airplane much like for any other plane at that step, and then left the completed airplane sitting in the middle of the table.
"Voilà, ze cobra, t'is masterpiece, she is finished," he added with a thick fake French accent for some humor to break the monotony of the airplane instruction. He looked at Aiden and Adina both wondering how they would react to all of that. Even while explaining things along the way, his hands were so used to folding that kind of plane that he did it quickly and masterfully. "Feel free to send her on her first flight," he added kindly, dropping the accent, to whichever one of them wanted to break the rules of society and toss a paper airplane in public.
I lol'ed at the headbutting rams comment.
Finally my work is finished! Man that was a long post about something so simple as folding a paper airplane. Again if you need a visual explanation of the plane, go here: Cobra Plane
@Shanosuke: Are you planning on balancing the genders among the selected students? Just wondering, since having that male-female dynamic almost always makes a story more interesting.

Shanosuke |

I wanted to do an even gender division. But I may decide to differ. I was considering running two groups and thankfully most of there seem to be enough applicants to consider. Problem is, Joy had expressed an interest and even made an alias. I have not heard from her. The only girls in the campaign so far are Adina, Jen, and Ashley. Though I'm have pretty much settled on one group for sure an it looks like a second group is definitely possible. I will watch for a bit longer but for the most part I believe I have made my decision. Once more day then I will post the final outcome. I may request a few minor changes though. This has been an absolute blast. I hope your having as much fun as I am.

Floyd Prince Tanner |
"I understand enough French to know that you asked me if I understand French. However that is about as far as it goes for me with that language. I do know Korean and German at least somewhat." Floyd sat back in his chair and took a few more sips of his milkshake. Recognizing that he was about half way through the drink and wondered briefly about the underlying philosophy that his two acquaintances had.
"On a random side note, I am about half way finished with this milkshake; is the cup half empty or half full?" Anyone who got to know Floyd quickly found out that he liked to act, or at least speak, on his random impulses fairly often. He did know when it would be inappropriate, but the rest of the time it is hard to know what to expect from him.

Adina Eyvendr |

"The old optimist/pessimist quiz?" Adina says as she carefully takes the plane and draws an insignia on the left wing. "I used to have an answer that confused people, telling them the cup was half-finished, but I eventually just settled for telling everyone it was half-full."
Finished with the decal, Adina looks around for a good flight path and throws the plane, watching as it flies above the heads of the people in the cafe and eventually lands in the bookstore.
"Isn't it strange, that a person who makes paper airplanes is one of the few people who like to throw their work away?"

Shanosuke |

Okay, this is where it seems to get tricky. I do have enough of you to do two groups and have already picked the eight players I want. The problem is player allocation. There are two players of whom I cannot decide which group they should join.
Here are the teams so far:
Team 1:
Aiden - Fire
Floyd - Water
Adina - Air
I love the dynamic that is building between these three
Team 2:
Ashley - Fire
Terry - Air
Reginald - Earth
I haven't seen a lot of RP from you guys but I do see a lot of potential with this particular team.
The two others I am having difficulty placing are:
Jen - Earth and Water
Trenton - Earth and Water
Team 1 needs an Earth
Team 2 needs a Water
I having trouble determining who would go best with which group. Any input from any of you on the set up? I would love a second opinion.

![]() |

Considering that Jen and Trenton are both Earth & Water, I can't really think of anything that could help you decide randomly.
But, I think Jen would be a nice addition to Team 1. Mostly because Trenton thinks Aiden is a prick. I can't see that going smoothly. The rest of it comes from wanting to see how she would react to Adina's persoanlity because they seem very different.

Shanosuke |

I would like you all to continue to roleplay. I want to see if any further dynamics roll out. I am fixed on the Aiden, Floyd and Adina group for sure.
I also see a lot of promise with the Terry, Ashley, and Reginald group. I'm going to go over some of the personalities a bit more and I will decide by tonight.
I am not going to randomly put Jen or Trenton into either. Group, I want their placement to be meaningful for sure. I'll read through the roleplay some more to get a better feel.

Floyd Prince Tanner |
"Somehow I figured that you would be an optimist at heart. That is always an attractive quality in a person, Miss Adina." His complement was presented simply and in a warm manner. Floyd figured that attempting any actual flirting would put the lady in a bad position between two potential courters, especially when he hadn't dropped the more formal references before the names yet.
"Personally, I am more pragmatic. If I am in the process of filling the cup, it is half-full. If I am in the process of emptying the cup, it is half-empty. If it is just sitting there at half, then it is just half a glass. Such a simple approach gives me more time to focus on other things in life, not that I really use much of that time," he finished with a hearty laugh. Floyd would be the first person to admit that he always has been and probably always will really lazy. In some ways that is a good thing; his laziness always drives him to look for the simplest solution to problems that take effort, when appropriate of course.
"The same could be said of artists. Few artists work for themselves. The work only shines when its sent out to be enjoyed by an audience. This is especially true of acting.
The obsessive-compulsive refreshing is taking its hold. Even when I can't make a post at the time I still find myself refreshing every 10-20 minutes to see any new posts lmao.
@Shanosuke: Give us Jen! The three-way dynamic that team 1 has so far would only be strained in the future with another male in the group in my prediction. I can already see Floyd and Aiden becoming rivals as the story progresses and people start becoming closer. But then again I am biased and knowing how personable Floyd is, another balancing female role will probably be necessary.

Aiden Frost |

Aiden will wait until Adina has had a chance to answer Floyd. Then,
"That was about the extent of my french right there to be honest. I knew more when I was staying there for a summer, but that was a long time ago. I speak Gaelic, ironic as that may seem." Aiden winks at Adina playfully. "I'll teach you some if you could teach me some Korean?"
"Now, I think I will answer your question with another question mister Tanner. How do we know that milkshake even exists at all?"
He smiles. Let's see if either of them are Troll bait.
I'm with Floyd. I think you should give us Jen. I'm sure floyd and Aiden will butt heads once in a while, but when stuff gets bad, I think they'll find they can work together well. 8)

Actually I think floyd is a prick lol, also I think I agree with floyd and aiden even though either way one team will have 3 guys 1 girl

Jen notices the paper airplane drifting lazily past, and excusing herself from the table, picks it up from the floor. The front point is a bit dented, but she quickly smoothes it out.
She traces the path back to the origin of the plane and sees a group by the bar, speaking intently and maintaining eye contact. Seeing her chance, Jen walks casually by, slipping the paper airplane back onto the counter near one of their sandwiches.

Ashley Aaronson |

Showing their new employee the cash register system Ashley looks up as another boy from her school comes in and heads up to order something. She couldn't recall his name but she remembered that he always seemed to be angry for some reason. He stutters as he makes his order but she was used to that, most boys were nervous around her. Putting on her #2 generic smile she says "One salami ciabatta coming right up. Would you like a drink or anything else with that?"
As she spoke, she found her eyes kept on drifting over to the table where Trenton, Moose and that other girl sat. Why were they spending so much time talking to her?? Not that she was jealous of course! I mean, after all, she was much prettier than that other girl.
Ashley certainly wouldn't mind being the only girl in the group if Jen does go to Team 1, but at the same time, another female for her to play off of could work very nicely as well. Hope that helped! lol ; )And sorry, haven't been posting as much as usual lately as have gone with the family to visit my sister this weekend, something that, for me at least, only happens once in a long while.
Also @Jen: Since I had used you 'Mr. Camden' character Jen (the one who was supposed to be leading your camping trip) I had thought that, if you liked, you could NPC him. No worries if you'd rather not though

Actually Ashley Terry and moose are talking to Jen I'm walking around the store lol

Trenton watches the interplay between the two groups of people talking. Well they all seem to be good friends. However his eyes are drawn to the cashier, the cheerleader girl, or something. He was getting hungry so he made his way up to the counter to stand behind another kid from school though he didn't remember his name.

Floyd Prince Tanner |
"Sure, I wouldn't mind teaching you some Korean sometime. And I think therefore I am; so I taste therefore it is should be enough of an arguement to work for the milkshake. Even if the shake is only a figment of my imagination, as long as my mind believes it is a part of my reality then it is real for me. We should try bending spoons next, Floyd joked lightly while making a subtle reference to the Matrix. He was enjoying himself just by interacting with this small group without even doing much of anything. Normally his mind or his body would need to be fully engaged in some sort of activity to really find any enjoyment.
"Well now that I've made a decent second impression, I think it is my turn to ask what you think about me." His voice and manner portrayed the statement as a joke, but he had the feeling from Adina that she would probably answer the question anyway. He kept his eyes and ears on the look out for any additional subtle clues he could pick up about either of them.
She at least knows a little bit about G.I. Joe and Cobra, and he seems to have been to quite a few places. Floyd was slightly jealous of Aiden's worldly experience; he hadn't been more than 4 hours away from this city in any direction.
Jen, were you trying to put the airplane back next to the sandwiches with our group or with a group at a bar somewhere? We are currently sitting at a table in the cafe so I wasn't fully sure.

Retech |

Sure, I would love to.
Mr. Camden perks up, hoping to please on his first day. I'll prepare that! He moves over to the microwave to warm one of the ciabatta and fumbles with the buttons. Hmm...okay. Let's try this, wait no, that's not right. My years as a scout never prepared me for this.
He finally seems to get it working and the machine started up, whirling its contents inside. The countdown began: 2:00, 1:59... Mr. Camden sighs with relief and heads off to watch Ashley "work."
Except after two minutes, the counter was only at 1:57, as if Mr. Camden had set the microwave for two hours. The sounds of the microwave was common enough that no one noticed, even Mr. Camden, who was supposed to be keeping track, until the Ciabetta heated up too far and exploded, covering the inside of the microwave with sauce and bits of salami.
That was supposed to be your group, but I thought you guys were still at the bar. :)

Adina Eyvendr |

"You, Floyd, are someone who doesn't always pay attention." Adina says mischievously, holding up the returned airplane. "Or is it that neither of you noticed that the return flight is back?"
"Hello! Thank you for returning the plane. Would you like to join us?" Adina asks Jen, motion to any one of the (quickly disappearing) empty seats.

Aiden Frost |

To Jen:
"Hey there. you know its bad luck to return evidence to the scene of the crime, right?" He laughs. "I know you want to give it a go. throw it. I want to see how far it flies."
Aiden will watch the plane's trajectory with the others, then.
"We'll we're not exactly playing spades, but I think one should keep as many options open as possible. Want to sit down?"
Edit: Mostly ninja'd! Well played Adina!

Adina Eyvendr |

"I'm sure the view from the roof would be great too... Oh, I'm sorry, we've not introduced ourselves. The boys, Aiden and Floyd, have the excuse of being boys." She says with a teasing gleam in her eyes, shooting a glance at both of them, her gaze lingering on one of them just a second longer than the other. "My name is Adina. Perhaps you could introduce us to this Terry sometime?"

Shanosuke |

Shanosuke wrote:You know, Moose has only made one post. I have not heard anything further.I'm sorry. I'm having a problem getting into Moose's head, so it's probably best to bow out now. The game looks like fun, but I'd hate to start and stop. Thanks!
Sorry buddy. Thanks for applying though.

Retech |

Hi, I'm Jen, she says rather timidly, but less so than when she greeted Ashley. Of course I can introduce you, he's a very interesting person. Actually Floyd, I will take you up on your offer, she says, looking at Aidan, but believing that she was looking at Floyd.
Jen scrawls a small note on a napkin, Hey, some people want to meet you. -Jen, before tucking it in one of the folds of the paper airplane and sending it off in Terry's direction. It lands nicely in front of him.
Not sure if or when Terry will respond to this, so leaving it open ended

Retech |

I was wondering if it would be possible to modify the Dervish Dance feat so it applies to other one-handed weapons as well (with a refluff)? Having it only applying to Scimitars makes it pretty limiting.
And if she takes Boon Companion as a feat early on, would it allow her to get an animal companion earlier or will she have to wait until 4th level like normal?

Aiden Frost |

"That throw was nicely done! But just to be clear Jenny, I'm Aiden. Floyd is the other y chromosome at the table."
"So, this is cozy, eh? What does everyone do for fun?"
Just so our group is on the same page, Aiden is hoping to take the rogue, skill monkey route as his gestalt class.

Shane Gifford |

Reginald shyly asks for a Brisk Tea, then takes his seat. He tries to read the book some more, but can't help but look at the girl at the counter in between sentences. It takes him a long time finding his spot again, and he ends up getting nowhere in the book. When he gets his food, he puts the book away in his bag and wolfs down, obviously not applying any moderation when gulping down his meal. He stops halfway through the sandwich and sits back, closing his eyes for a second and smiling inwardly. This is a nice place. It's calm, and smells good, and has good food. I should come here more often. He pensively views his half-of-a-sandwich before continuing to wolf it down.
Reginald is happily drinking his tea after eating the ciabatta when Mike, one of the basketball jocks, walks into the store. Reggy looks surprised for a moment, then tries to get up and quickly move to the back of the bookstore. However, his foot gets caught in the chair, and he stumbles down, taking the chair with him. Reginald gets up hastily, his face bright red, and puts the chair back in place, but the damage has been done. Many of the kids around him are laughing, and Mike says to Reginald, "Smooth move, lardass!" which summons up a host of laughter. Reginald looks Mike straight in the eye, and his face flushes crimson. "You take that back." Reginald says, his teeth and fists clenched tightly.

Adina Eyvendr |

Adina frowns as she looks toward Aiden's destinations, and she rips a clean sheet of paper from her sketch pad. Folding quickly, she makes a much pointier version of the Floyd's plane and throws it toward Mike, striking him squarely in his forehead.
Her face is emotionless and her eyes piercing as she glares at him from across the room. The change is actually rather disturbing for those who were with her just a few seconds ago when she was making jokes.
Don't worry, Reggy! AirForce Adina's got your back! :)
