Bleed effects do not stack with each other unless they deal different kinds of damage. When two or more bleed effects deal the same kind of damage, take the worse effect.
So, take the higher iterative. Harlan's channel heals any continuous damage from previous rounds, but Malnival and Kiyomi will have more after the current barrage.
@ Heng: Yes, I failed to apply the shaken penalty, even though I was thinking about it at the time. That hit will turn into a miss!

Congrats! You have achieved enough experience to reach level 14! Please post your level up decisions and numbers.
As should be no surprise, this will be the last level up for the campaign. Sooo, if there's any features you want to retrain, now would be the time to do it. Let me know if you have any questions.

I don't know... Here is your post for level 13, and way back here you rolled dice for level 12. You didn't post any stats or skills later, so maybe it got missed there.

4 of the 6 original players still going!

DM NomadSage |

We seem to be lacking momentum going forward. As an inspiration (or a warning), how you guys approach the palace and/or confronting the JR and his cronies is really your sandbox to play in. There isn't a clear "HERE BE MONSTERS" entrance, and a ton of options are available to approach it: frontal assault, hit & run strikes, magic your way in, or even walk up with a white flag to parley. Don't be afraid to get creative with it...

![]() |

Yeah, planning an assault over PbP always drags and it doesn't haelp that things are running way slow already.
I'm feeling hindered by a lack of intel. I do appreciate the new checklist and NPC list on the campaign tab, but I don't understand the lay out of the city AT.ALL. and Isao map making skills are leaving me totally confused. What's up with the causeway? is it really all bent like that? Where's the coast line? what's on the east side?
Also having the usual AP continuity issues. What was up with all the time getting ninja, merchant, and noble allies. Was that just to consolidate the north? Are they any use at this point? The ninjas seemed based in Enganoka. Also, we just spent a bunch of time on Evil Island, but have no background whatsoever with the capital...
If we only had a wheelbarrow and a holocaust cloak!

DM NomadSage |

I can understand the confusion... If you look at the Kasai map on Roll20, the palace is the building on the small island in the far NE corner. Comparing it to the sketch, you'll see the road winds up and around just like he drew. The entire lake is walled in. The actual coast is off to the west.
As a peek behind the DM screen, chapter six is written about 45% Well of Demons, 50% palace, and 5% everything else. I'm putting my own stuff (mainly through Isao) to try and flow it together. I understand space limitations, but the Kasai parts are fairly anemic as printed.
Honestly, you could spend an entire Curse of the Crimson Throne or Hell's Rebels style campaign in Kasai! The book includes a pair of small and throw-away encounters that are supposed to sow discord... rescue Hatsue from execution (how did she get there ahead of you?), raid the food stocks to feed the poor, etc. They were ready if you guys wanted to follow that path, but you were pretty focused on getting Ameiko to the throne. Which is actually less painful for the citizens of the city than a long insurgency/siege.
As for the northern factions: yes, they are mainly the rebellion side of things in Minkai. They are certainly there to use, such as your plan to hire the ninja to handle the Raven Prince. Jiro and the army are closing the noose slowly -- you can wait for them to reach Kasai, but that will take months+ of game time.
A good part of me would be happy if you just charged the gates. No more sneaking and subterfuge! After hiding for so long, its time to take the fight to the enemy! Start punching faces in the fortress filled with oni!

DM NomadSage |

Indeed, you can do that. So far, no one has suggested plans that specific. I offered Isao handle it as a way to keep things rolling, and not get lost in a tangent. Regardless, it will still take a couple weeks for Sandru to contact the Three Monkeys and for them to act.
That being said -- and in the interest of getting the game going -- we can fast-forward the necessary game time and pick up from when you are ready to infiltrate the palace. Is that acceptable to all?

![]() |

I think that we just need to move forward and forget the memo to the monkeys thing. It just makes absolutely no sense to me that we're going to hideout in a basement for a month to wait for the Raven Prince to get killed while a war is going on. I mean isn't the Raven Prince at the Palace? I guess the idea is that we're behind enemy lines and on our own.

I consider it biding our time for the right opportunity to strike. One less power to take out would be great.
Not sure what the difference between right now and two weeks would make? Our army wont be here for months, right?
We never did a final loot scrub? I might take a quick look and see if its worth selling and buying right quick. Should be able to knock that out in the next couple hours.

DM NomadSage |

While you resolve the remaining loot in the game thread, I want to address Heng's concerns. I guess I don't understand his urgency in the current situation -- could very well be due to me not detailing the environment enough. Basically, since you guys wind walked your way to Kasai, crossing hundreds of miles in mere hours, you're waaaay ahead of Jiro and the army. Also, as far as you can tell, the Jade Regent & friends don't really know you're in the city... there's no active search parties, etc.
I'll admit some details might have gotten missed or overlooked. If its just Heng being focused on the finish line, then I totally get it! =P

![]() |

No I get all that. That's why the 'sit around for a month to wait for a snail mail letter to get up to the north and then have the good ninjas make their way back down here to kill the Raven Prince' plan is so ridiculous to me. We're already here. We're ready to go in. There's a war going on that we could end quickly by taking out the baddies and we're going to wait around for this rather weak gambit. I mean it is what it is, but Heng's sense of urgency is that there are lives being lost in a war that could hopefully be ended quickly.
I think the biggest problem is with the AP as written and that we don't have any idea who the enemy, other than the Jade Regent, is until the last half of the last book.... you'd think someone would have some idea of what happening in the capitol and tell us much earlier. we could have sent out the kill order on RP months ago and it would have made a little sense.
I mean it's just a game and whatever, fast forward a month. I just needed to get that off my chest :)
