Group 2:
Hello everyone. There are a few things that need to get done before we can get started but I understand that your all eager to start. I need to read the AP and Players guide cover to cover(hope to have this done today). I've been really behind on my preparation for this and I apologize but I'm sure I'll be able to make up for it. All final modifications to your characters need to be made before the IC thread goes up(hopefully tomorrow morning). I also want you guys to vote on a group name so when I start the IC thread we'll be able to distinguish it a little better.
Any questions can be raised here as well and I will do my best to address them.
Anyone who wants to lurk here can and should feel free to post if they want as long as it doesn't get disruptive.

Thanks for the opportunity, Mathpro. Looking forward to it quite a bit.
I'm thinking I'll change out my Misfortune hex for the Healing hex as we don't have a healer type in the group. Not sure how combat heavy this AP is though.
Actually the alchemist in the group(Eisen) has cure light wounds as a formule though I don't know how readily he wants to use it. I'll leave it up to the two of you as to who is in charge of the healing.
And don't worry about you getting the opportunity, you were one of the easy choices hands down.
Eisen Helstrom
I'm glad to have made the cut. Other than a couple of PFS scenarios, I haven't really done much PbP, so I'm really looking forward to this.
As for the healing, Eisen is certainly up to the role of healer - at least as much as he can be with this class. It's why he has the cure light wounds formulae and a healthy Heal skill (pun intended). Unfortunately, at the moment, that extraction only works for me. I'll need a level before I can share. I don't know how hot and heavy the combats will get, but I won't discourage a little extra healing in the party.
Tanimoto
Okay here is Tanimoto. Everybody who works at the Rusty Dragon will know of him as one of the "barmaids" All the details are in his profile.
Sorry for the delay. Had to do a lot of work. Also, I don't have a completed statblock as Herolab is freakin slow at getting updates.
DM Mathpro
umm...wow Shano that's a bit of a stretch for you...should be interesting to see you play such a...flamboyant character. I can't wait to have the male traveling companions hit on him/her/it
From looking through everyone profile it looks like you all chose unique traits which makes things a little simpler. My other group has some overlapping traits which makes things a bit more challenging.
Magdelia Estuv-Brez
heheh That should be entertaining.
Mags character sheet is updated now. Traded Misfortune for Healing and switched out a spell for CLW, just in case. Forgot to add my favored class skill point, so I did that as well. Added some gear. I still have a lot of cash left, so I may buy a bit more before we start.
Otherwise, ready to roll. Or role...
DM Mathpro
Sounds good Magdelia. I'm probably going to be getting the IC thread up and going tomorrow morning. I need to figure out how to use Dungeon Cartographer 3 because thats what I'll be creating battle maps in for combats...so that will be what I'm playing with probably for the rest of the night. I'll also be reading through the first chapter at least of the AP(wanted to read the whole thing but wasted to much time earlier). I'll still be checking in from time to time though so don't worry.

i beleive that eschewing a map allows us to potentially make combat more dynamic.
the 2 dimensional grid actually restricts the visual. and it adds that board game feel.
by removing that grid
we can have a more artistic control over distances, facing, and narrative. and it can also provide a more freeform and chaotic feel appropriate to a simulation rather and a simple game of chess.
imagine the potential of 3 Dimensional combat. something that no grid can simulate.

I am shuriken's current character for this campaign. the profile is self explanatory. essentially a human fighter with a bit of bad shonen jump anime flavor
Eisen (i think that's his name) is a human alchemist
Tanimoto is an aasimaar ninja, a petite male who appears feminine and disguises himself as a female
Magdelia is a female half elf witch.

Though I totally see your point, I have to say that I do occasionally enjoy the tactical side of combat that the grid provides. But, I'll work with it whichever way Mathpro decides to do it.

my initial ROtRL party
the initial party to leave sandpoint had the following PCs.
this is a smaller repost that has been somewhat trimmed.
Luminiere Argence Solaras Dawnbringer II, female Aasimaar cleric of sarenrae. she prepared mostly healing and restorative spells and utilized the dervish dance line of feats. she appeared to be a child and acted as the conscience of the party.
Hans, male dwarven fighter, he originally worked as a bouncer for the rusty dragon and his weapons of choice were a dwarven waraxe and a heavy steel shield. he was a sword and board TWF guy.
Himo, male elven monk, essentially mcguyver, he improvised creative yet simple solutions to everything. he was raised as a monk of the blue stone.
Gorth, male half orc (orcish half being dominant) cleric of gorum, self buffing greatsword guy. gorth was a masochist driven into ecstasy whenever he got sufficiently wounded. he was one of the cathedral guards.
Daevon, gender ambiguous male human (varisian) wizard who eventually went druid then mystic thuerge. his familiar was a falcon and his 'animal companion' was a glowing cactus. Daevon may as well have been varsuvius. he worked as a fortune teller and failed heavily at womanizing.
Tanimoto
Okay, Statblock is complete, this kid's gonna be completely useless in a fight until level 2. I try to make up for it with my awesome tactical skills and hopefully I'll make it there. Fortunately he has many other uses. Tanimoto of The Tigers of Shigure is ready for action.
Also, I took the charming trait because this character can apply the bonus to both men and women. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Right it dawned on me that everyone is supposed to have Relationship scores with the 4 NPC's(well there will be more later but it starts out with the 4). I will be setting up and posting a spread sheet that will have everyones scores for the NPC's listed on it. See the players guide for more details about Relationship's.
What I need from you guys is your starting relationship towards the 4 NPC's: Ameiko, Koya, Shalelu, and Sandru. Your starting options are either friendly or competitive. I'm going to assume you have met all 4 since you have been in town for a while.
General Notes:
Your relationship scores will generally be equal to your charisma modifier.
Insulting a NPC you are competitive will raise your relationship score.
Giving a gift to an NPC your friendly with will raise your relationship score.
Insulting a friendly NPC and Gifting a Competitive NPC will lower your relationship scores.
Everyone starts out with a +4 to the relationship score of the NPC their trait is associated with(Tanimoto-Shalelu, Kodachi-Noone(sorry), Magdelia-Ameiko, Eisen-Koya).
Like I said before more info can be found in the players guide and once I know what type of relationship everyone is shooting for I'll have the spread sheet up.
Edited to have the right player names...this is what happens when I get lazy and copy and paste things.
Tanimoto
Tani is definately friendly towards Ameiko and Shalelu. One being his rescuer and the other his boss. Tani will be competitive against Koya (The mom he doesn't want or a cranky old bat who is always pestering him and vice versa.) and Sandru (Similar skill set means opposition) Yes I know he is going to fetch Koya, this could be amusing. It is also likely that Sandru my have flirted with Tani not realizing he likes to cross dress and got embarrassed when Tani played him for a fool in front of the bar
Eisen Helstrom
I suppose it's rather unexciting, but I don't see a reason for Eisen being anything other than friendly towards all 4 NPCs. He is definitely friendly towawrds Koya, as she's the only form of parental guidence he's known, and Ameiko since, being Tian, he sees her as some sort of connection or kindred with his Tian half.
I'm kind of indifferent towards Sandu and Shalelu, so give me a bit to decide on that. For the moment, my score is pretty minimal either way. I'll get back to you later on tonight.
Eisen Helstrom
Koya is the woman who raised and educated him, so Eisen's definitely freindly towards her. He's taken a liking to Ameiko as she represents a link to his more mysterious Tian half. He's has always projected his distrust of the Vhiski family's ties with the Sczarni upon, Sandru, and has a general distrust of his foster brother. Even if he seeks to distance himself from the Sczarni, Eisen still believes Sandru to be a con man and criminal.
I'm still debating his relationship with Shalelu. On one hand, Eisen's greatful for the aid and protection she gives Sandpoint and has had little direct contact with her to warrant anything other than friendly relations. Yet, I could see him viewing her tendency to disappear for lengths of time and willingness to put herself in dangerous situations alone as being reckless. Although he wouldn't refuse giving her aid, he would see Shalelu as unneccissary putting burden on healers and those from whom she ends up requiring assistance from. Thoughts?

Eisen. So we've known each other for a week. How much do I know about you at this point? I assumed I would know your relationship with Koya in the IC thread. Hope that was OK.
For my part, Mags probably would have talked mostly only about the last 4 years in Sandpoint so far. She's very secretive (fearful, embarrassed) about being a witch at this point, so she wouldn't have mentioned that at all. Ameiko is probably the only one in town who would actually know.

That sounds fine. Eisen wouldn't have pressed too hard on any sensitive areas, if at all. General small talk and getting to know you sort of deal. He's pretty open about why he's returned to Sandpoint and his relationship with Koya, so that was fine. There's not too many dark secrets he's got other than perhaps his origins, which he avoids discussing (mostly out shame of not knowing anything himself).

@mags: very very interesting. I just read the beginning like paragraph or two but I might implement it. Opinions from anyone else?
@Shuriken: No problem I'll DMPC you for that time.
That reminds me, if your going to be gone please let me know like Shuriken just did. That way I know that you didn't just disappear and I don't accidentally boot you. If you do not warn me before your gone you will more than likely come back to someone else having filled your role, though I haven't figured out how long I want to wait before finding replacements for people who disappear. I'm thinking between 3-5 consecutive days.
Eisen Helstrom
That's an interesting article about step advancement. I may try that the next time I run a game. I'll leave it up to you, Mathpro, if you want to implement it here or not. I'm happy with traditional XP advancement, but will certainly support the step advancement. Done carefully, we could probably switch back if we find it's not working. Only issue I might see with using it in a PbP is that when to implement the steps. We don't exactly have X-number of hours of game time to go by.
And, since you bring it up, I'll just let you know now that I'll be out town August 14-17. I should have Internet access when I'm going, but I can't commit to being able to post regularly during that time. I'll send you another reminder when the dates gets closer too.
