i have seen in past posts where people say augment summoning works for your summon monster ability as a summoner but not for your eidolon.. but i have been reading and it says they use the same power.. so im not understanding..
Starting at 1st level, a summoner can cast summon monster I as a spell-like ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. Drawing upon this ability uses up the same power as the summoner uses to call his eidolon. As a result, he can only use this ability when his eidolon is not summoned
well if it uses the same power..?? why cant the eidolon have the augment summoning rules also???

I believe that it has been stated on this forum already (will put a link here when I find it) that Augment Summoning does not work (in general) will summoning Spell Like Abilities, (The Summoners Summon Monster being the exception, but this has not hit the FAQ for the APG).
The Feat does work with the Summon Eidolon as that is a "Summon" spell.
I can see where you are coming from for the Feat to work with the Eidolon, but I believe that it would make the Eidolon too powerful.

i saw what everyone is saying.. but the way it is worded.. it is the same thing basically .. it uses the same power.. im saying if it doesnt work for the eidolon it shouldnt work for the summon monster ability you have either.. since they use the same power and are essentially the same thing.. no big deal to me.. i havent taken the feat.. just wanting to clear it up in my mind.. really makes no sense to me..

Because it would make the Eidolon uber...beyond uber actually...free Bull Strength and Bear's Endurance in effect.
Called balancing, doesn't have to make sense.

"Using the same power" is just flavor text, and means nothing beyond a way to explain why (balance-wise) you can't have your Eidolon AND a Summon Monster spell-like ability active. As the Rules as Written go, the Augment Summoning feat only affects creatures summoned using a summon spell. Summoning the Eidolon does not use a Summon spell (it uses its own mechanic, and thus does not follow a spell format) and thus is not valid for the spell. As a previous poster said, technically the Summon Monster spell-like abilities the Summoner gets wouldn't normally be a viable use of Augment Summoning either, but it's been general consensus that that's allowed (though it's not official).
Rules and flavor aside, it simply would be too powerful to grant the Eidolon a permanent +4 to Strength and Constitution just for spending two feats (Especially two feats that severely augment your entire class).

Except that it is generally agreed that using the "Summon Eidolon" spell would give it the bonuses, as its a Summon spell. Still as broken, but still works.
There is one major and important difference between those two abilities: The SPELL to summon your Eidolon is very short duration, the CLASS ABILITY to call your Eidolon is, effectively, permanent.
There is a significant difference between giving a permanent +4 to your Eidolons Str and Con and a temporary one.
