Ok. I just want to take a second and shift your paradigm from 21st century law and order into a middle ages mentality. What Lukan just did was a lawful act for those times. There was no 'innocent until proven guilty'. This man was clearly a bandit and it is ordered that he be put to death for unrepentant acts of banditry. Although 'unrepentant' is a bit relative, Lukan decided to make the call that this man was unrepentant because he was a bandit until he could not fight any more. He did not surrender in the midst of combat. Only when his life was in danger did he roll on his back and show his belly.

It is extremely difficult to transcend the, albeit good and great, philosophy of the 21st century and dive into this type of setting. If Lukan did not have the order to put these men to death he would not be acting this way, but he has the order and authority. If your characters also received this charter then I'm sure the Swordlords had the trust in you to carry out their orders. Killing men, even unarmed men, if they have committed a crime that warrants death would be what everyone in this group signed up for... Save Bron.

Male Half-elf Summoner 1

Hey in me and Ganit's defense you technically never gave the DM a chance to post the bandit repenting his misdeeds but that was your character doing what he thought was right and I'm the LAST person to stop you on that account :P I ain't trying to start a fight. But also, what kind of man SURRENDERS mid-fight if he ISNT wounded?? There is NO mentality about that, they were winning before you, Drakor and Ganit went ape-!@#$ on them. he was most likely put under during the first round you were attacking. It isn't manly for one lolz and two he's running on adrenaline, and we ALL know how ppl get when running on adrenaline.

That being said, I've run a Cavalier noble knight character in a similar but different campaign and he ended up either hanging all the bandits after the fight that were still alive or chopping their heads off. you want medieval mentality? theeeere ya go.

I'm just playing a role friend. Ganit believes every decision he makes is the right one. LN is my favorite alignment because it lets me play pompous and arrogant jerks, thus: Ganit D'Artain. He decided that the bandit posed no threat so he would be better off as an indentured servant. I suppose I should have rolled a Sense Motive earlier in the day for that. CMB lets you:

"Add any bonuses you currently have on attack rolls due to spells, feats, and other effects. These bonuses must be applicable to the weapon or attack used to perform the maneuver. The DC of this maneuver is your target's Combat Maneuver Defense. Combat maneuvers are attack rolls, so you must roll for concealment and take any other penalties that would normally apply to an attack roll." (2nd paragraph, pg 199, Core Rulebook)

Typically in my group we'd play this sort of thing out as a "cinematic" but I posted the pulp incase no one else did that sort of thing on a P2P. My apologies on surprise round, again at the table we play that as a relative thing. Surprise being: unaware that combat is going to happen. Just know that I had no intention of making this a life/death struggle, thats why I specified he left his weapons inside. Before we get into semantics and end up hating eachother I totally agree to waiting for DM intervention.

Male Half-elf Summoner 1

also we've all officially disgusted the elf of human moral standings and nature XD i'm not even with you guys! I'm half-elf! and Drakor isn't even remotely human

Zayne "I'm not with them! I'm a half elf!"

Tholamin "I don't care you're alllll going to hell"

Drakor "Drakor from hell! :D"

OK Zayne lets not get nasty. Last thing we need is to start getting personal. Lukan did what his character believes is fair and ours followed suit. Personally I think it adds flavor and dynamic to a party's interworkings. It makes the game far more interesting than if we all agree to do the same thing at every turn.

Male Human Fighter (Armor Master) 4

Hang them all and let the gods sort them out. In teamwork literature we are in the storming stage =P

Anyways, a man who surrenders mid fight is a man who doesnt want to fight for the side he is on. It makes total sense. Ya no sense arguing about which one this is I guess...

Ganit was pushing Lukans buttons. I couldnt wait forever =P I'm guessing he wanted me to kill the bandit, secretly ;)

Male Human Fighter (Armor Master) 4

I hear ya Ganit. If we get caught up with the rules this wont be any fun, but cenematics are difficult. It wouldn't be fair for anyone just to grab people, especially a wizard grappling a fighter. We should still use rolls to some extent, but I think we should post our intentions (and rolls) and let the DM decide the results....

Just to let you know - if you keep talkin smack about Lukan's Legion, he is going to have no choice to duel you =P

LG - Play to the Laws of the land.
LN - Play to a moral code of your own thinking.

Your decision based on middle ages mentality is totally legit, no doubt. But its not going to be everyone's way of thinking. To be entirely fair, the bandit was a coward bleeding to death on the battlefield. Ganit saved him and decided he was too cowardly to do anything to endanger the rest of us so he'd make that coward a slave to Oleg and Co. Its role playing, in a game.

Ganit's a button pusher. He pushes buttons. Low charisma, nobody enjoys his company for too long. haha

Tbf, I didn't expect him to really land it, Ganit is terrible in melee. Next time we could post a CINEMATICS at the top of the thread to let people know whatsup

Loot:
6 Leather Armour - 10gp x6 = 60gp
6 Longbows - 75gp x6 = 450gp
7 (20) Arrows - 1gp x7 = 7gp
6 shortswords - 10gp x6 = 60gp
14 days rations - 5sp x 14 = 7gp
2 Alchemist's fire - 20gp x2 = 40gp
Studded Leather Armour - 25gp
Dagger = 2gp
Longsword = 15gp
mwk composite bow (+2 Str) = 600gp
70gp
Total: 1336gp

With the horses and the 50gp Oleg gave us we're looking at:

Horse, light - 75gp x8 = 600gp
Horse, light (combat trained) - 110gp x8 = 880gp
50gp
1336gp

Total: 1986 or 2266 depending on the horses.

So we each make a cut of:
1986/6 = 331gp
2266/6 = 377.6gp 377gp and 6sp

I take it we'll be keeping the stag lord amulet, I subtracted its cost from my other loot related post. Cambyl had it last I knew so it'd probably be in his possession. Should we distribute the potions on a matter of need or put them up with the rest of the loot?

On a side note, I'll be putting my application in for the unglorified position of "Party Treasurer," All opposed say: Nay.

Male Human Bard 4

Yay!

Silly question: was that the last man alive?

I would assume the normal bandit's horses were untrained, as they couldn't handle a loud noise.

We should also probably keep one horse each if we're going to want to ride them around. I'm still not clear if we started with one or not :D.

I can hold onto the amulet.

Also, I'm waiting on a response from the DM, but I'm assuming I can start using cleric stuff at some point, and will heal us up then, or in the morning.

For anyone who's played a cleric, let me know if I've got stuff right, this will be my first.

@ bron - Uhhhh yes, until shortly after dinner...

So the way I see it is that anything on this list is up for grabs, the only stipulation is that you pay for it out of your share of loot. For example: you take away 331gp from this little mess. Since you want to grab a horse, you take the it and the difference in gold: 331gp - 75gp = 256pg and a fuzzy little friend.

In my case: 331gp + 75gp(starting bow) + 25.4gp(wallet) = 431.4gp - 600gp (Happs' bow) = -168.6gp. So, poor Ganit is indebted to you all until our next outing.

Your cleric looks good. If you wanted to go into a more martial themed class down the line, you could do Holy Vindicator from the APG. Battle Clerics are nothing to scoff at. If you have even 2 minutes to prep for a fight you could easilly outrank a standard fighter. And this time you're proficient with the rapier! yay!

Male Human Fighter (Armor Master) 4

Sorry for the delay fellas. Ganit, I did the cinematic post. I hope you don't mind how I described things. I looked at both of our stats - with FE I think we would have been fairly evenly matched. Maybe with a slight advantage to you.

Like any good manly relationship we have to duke it out first.

Loot looks good. I think we should keep the horses and distribute the potions on a need basis.

[EDIT] Just re-read my post... and wow that was some aweful descriptionness. I'm beat dead tired. I just wanted to get something out there. Feel free to recap, re-itterate, re-write or whatever you need to do ;)

Male Elf Wood Elementalist Wizard

wait if horses are free....why do we pay for them from the loot why not just divide the loot before the horses im confused lol

Male Human Bard 4

I bought a horse with my character's initial equipment (had to make out quite a hole in the budget for it), and I think Ganit owned one due to his trait. I don't think anyone else had one before the fight, though.

I read this part of the thread before checking the IC so I put some of Ganit's perspective in there. Just to reitterate.

I agree, 2 lawful characters of different mindsets are going to clash. Toss in the fact that they're both the only core martial (non-summons) in the group and its definitely going to be a rocky road for the first few "sessions."

The pioneer trait gave me a horse, that is correct.

With your approval waiting, of course, DM Aron, I created a new Trait to fit the character. It is modeled after half of the Cosmopolitan feat in the APG that gives 2 languages and 2 class skills:

Mystic Battle Cry
In your youth you were trained in combat by an intriguing character utilizing a foreign style. His teachings included intimidating cries in a tongue you were forced to learn. You learned the language but never quite understood its necessity.

Benefit:
You can speak and read one additional language which you prefer in battle. In addition, choose one INT, WIS or CHA based skill. It is always a class skill for you.

If you prefer I won't use it, but I've been enjoying the oddities of speaking celestial in battle :).

Yeah I'll allow it if you truely wish to change to a cleric and it won't make too much of a change I would've thought.

@Ganit Yeah I have no issue as long as all these changes will be now and no more changed from here on in.

Yeah I agree that it certainly adds a lot with your characters bouncing off each other in roleplaying terms and makes a much more interesting atmostphere.

Also, I'm sure you guys won't have any guilt about Happs' death

Backstory: Happs is a crude and foul-mouthed man who turned to banditry after he was caught running a protection racket in Restov while also, in theory, serving as a soldier and city guard. He fled the city when he learned that the law was coming for him, abandoning a wife and two children to suffer the shame of his crimes.

You guys weren't going to learn this backstory and it doesn't spoil anything so yeah, no one is going to shed a tear for the man who fled and left his family to suffer the shame for his crimes.

If you guys want to all go to bed after the row be sure to tell me. Oleg will want to continue attempting to fix the hole on the roof.

Male Elf Wood Elementalist Wizard

Yeah tholamin is just going to bed. oh btw lukan you know you were enchanted sooooooo.... kinda unsure how you would be belligerent when the spell makes you a lot more agreeable sense you failed your will save

Male Human Bard 4

I won't mind. I cast the spell to try and defuse the situation, not to control other players' characters ;)

At least no one is at another's throats right now.

Hmmm I was being belligerent? I think Lukan was being most agreeable after Ganit provided insult after insult. Lukan actually had a logical argument and the 'lawful' order supporting him. Anyways, read the descriptor of fascinate you'll see my actions fall in line with it-he stopped what he was doing and focused on the caster. Since Bron offered his hand to let them up, he would have had to drop the fascinate or else Lukan would have just kept staring blankly at him.

It's not so much that I really want to, but that my ideas for the Battle mystery were decidedly not healing, and if that's going to be my job, I'd have to abandon most of them anyway which would just be frustrating :).

This way, the plans fit the job and I won't be trying to war between desires to fight and a need to help the rest of the team.

It's cool, I've been wanting to play a cleric for a while :).

Finished upgrading (downgrading) to standard Ranger. I also updated my sheet with the loot we've received so far. I took the lesser amount of gold as a precaution. If the horses are in fact combat trained, everyone simply add 46.6gp to your coin purse.

Cambyl - a cleric can be quite the bad*** if developed in the right way. The Holy Vindicator is pretty much designed to let you become a paladin without having to max your charisma. It's 3/4 casting progression so you won't lose too many spell levels and it's levels stack for channeling.

Male Human Bard 4

Again, I don't want to change anything or influence your actions, I'll just ramble on my abilities (as they have been called into the debate).

I really don't think the bardic performance at general work exactly like a hypnotism. You don't stand, mouth open, arms loose, looking at a blank point in space because you're fascinated. You look at the guy and hear and pay attention to what he has to say, because he's damn compelling. Afterwards, you'll probably have that on your head and remember what he said.

Male Human Fighter (Armor Master) 4

Yeah that's how I always envisioned it working as well.

Yeah, Cleric's can be awesome :). I'll decide which way to go as things progress.

I'll update sheet with 256 gold and a horse. I assume we can stable the horses at Oleg's for free?

I'll be looking to buy a healer's kit if Oleg has one, or when we can find one.

ETA: Also, I know Bron's in bad shape, and I'm at 5/8 hp after a night's rest. Who else still needs some healing?

You'll have to do the same as Cambyl if you want a horse. Bronwyn bought one with his starting gold and I had one from the pioneer trait. So if you, Zayne or Lukan wanted to take a horse as a mount you'll get 256gp and a light horse.

Yeah, Oleg will allow you guys to stay for free as you were sent to the Stolen Lands by the swordlords and he owes you a lot after having saved him and his wife from the bandits. Not to mention it's the safest place int he stolen lands until you establish a kingdom.

Zayne is at 5/8 before resting. His eidolon can just be dismissed and re-summoned in the morning to be at full hp. Zayne should have a potion of CLW on him. I think Ganit has the other and the Shield of Faith +2 is still up for grabs. I think that the SoF and CLW potions should go to Bron and Lukan seeing as they'll be mostly melee and likely to need them. but that's just my opinion. I bet if you used one of your channels for the day everyone who is only 1-2 under full hp would be appreciative.

The fight ocurred early in the morning, right? Considering Bron is still at 0 HP, he'll probably sleep through most of the day, unless anyone wakes him up (even then I'll probably have 1 HP at the most).

I don't see why not. I'm sure you could heal it, but I'll check the rules to be doubly sure, though I think the point of rejuvinate Eidolon is so that it's a arcane spell that can heal so there shouldn't be a problem.

So with the xp as it's supposed to be (otherwise the entire campaign has exp being thrown out the window) it should be 156 xp per character. As an apology you guys can have two extra potions of cure light wounds for my f*~% up.

So we're looking at 156 + 25 = 181XP. I'm not sure what speed we're leveling up at but in any case we're a ways away.
